Neonatal brain damage, including the damage in the fetal period, is caused by many factors such as hypoxia, infection, trauma, intoxication and metabolic disorders. According to epidemiological studies, perinatal hypoxic-ischemic brain damage shows the highest incidence, and needs a new strategy for its prevention and treatment. This symposium is focused on the recent advances of basic research and technological science in the pathogenesis, neuroimagings, near-infrared spectroscopy, developmental neurophysiology, and intervention in perinatal hypoxic-ischemic brain damage, taking into consideration on the long term prognosis in each section.  相似文献

The reaction of sintered Li2O discs with several commercial heat resistant alloys has been investigated under the conditions of 3.3 × 104Pa (13 atm) static He gas atmosphere in the temperature range of 500 and 750° C. Reaction products were identified by X-ray diffraction analysis to be two phases of Li5FeO4 and LiCrO2. The former was dominant below 650° C and the latter was dominant above 650° C. The activation energies of the reaction were determined by the Arrhenius plots for weight changes and sub-scale thickness measurements. The reactivity of the four Fe-Ni-Cr alloys decreased according to the order of Incoloy 800, 316 SS, Hastelloy X-R and Inconel 600. Grain boundary penetration was observed above 500° C for Incoloy 800, 550° C for 316 SS and 600° C for Inconel 600. There was no grain boundary penetration in Hastelloy X-R.  相似文献

The following well-known equation permits the ready determination of M n from a single osmotic pressure measurement at a known concentration, if the second virial coefficient is previously given: On this basis, the one-point method was investigated to determine the number-average molecular weight. Dendritic epidermal T cells (DETCs) are Thy-1+, CD45+, CD3+, CD4-, CD8-, and T-cell receptor-V gamma 3/V delta 1+ leukocytes that reside normally in adult mouse skin. We have demonstrated previously that keratinocytes serve as adhesion substrates for DETCs, and that interleukin 7 (IL-7), which is produced by keratinocytes, serves as a growth factor for DETCs. The present study was conducted to address the mechanisms by which DETCs migrate into the epidermis, reasoning that keratinocytes may also be a source of chemotactic activity. Short-term DETC lines were 35S-labeled and tested for migration toward Pam 212 keratinocyte culture supernatants using a modified Boyden chamber method; cell movement from upper chambers toward test samples in lower chambers was traced by counting radioactivity. DETC displayed rapid (within 60 min) and marked (> 50%) migration toward keratinocyte supernatants. The majority of cells that had migrated into keratinocyte supernatants expressed the V gamma 3 T-cell receptor, thus verifying that the migrating cells were DETCs. Addition of keratinocyte supernatants to the upper chambers completely blocked migration, suggesting its chemotactic nature. By contrast, no DETC migration was observed toward 3T3 fibroblast supernatants. Chemotactic activities were 1) produced by Pam 212 cells even in the absence of serum; 2) greater than 12 kD in size; 3) heat and pH labile; 4) trypsin sensitive; and 5) precipitated by 60-100% ammonium sulfate. Several cytokines (e.g., IL-1 alpha and IL-8) failed to mediate DETC migration when added to the lower chambers. Likewise, the same cytokines, when added to the upper chambers, failed to inhibit DETC migration toward Pam 212 supernatants. These results support our hypothesis that keratinocytes facilitate the residence of DETC in epidermis by secreting unique chemotactic factors, by providing adhesion substrates, and by elaborating specific growth factors.  相似文献

The structural blue color of a Morpho butterfly originates from the diffraction of light and interference effects due to the presence of the microstructures on the wing of the butterfly. Structural color on the surface of a damselfish reversibly changes between green and blue. Inspired by these creatures, we have been trying to prepare high-quality and functional structural color films. We describe our efforts in this Account. A useful technique to prepare such structural color films in colloidal solution is a "lifting" method, which allows us to quickly fabricate brilliant colloidal crystal films. The thicknesses of the films can be controlled by precisely adjusting the particle concentration and the lifting speed. Moreover, in order to prepare a complicated structure, we have used template methods. Indeed, we have successfully prepared the inverse structure of the wing of a Morpho butterfly with this technique. Initially, however, our structural color films had a whitish appearance due to the scattering of light by defects in the colloidal crystal film. Later, we were able to prepare a non-whitish structural color film by doping an appropriate dye in the colloidal particles to absorb the scattering light. In addition to the structural blue color, the wing of the Morpho butterfly has superhydrophobic properties. According to Wenzel's equation, the hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties are enhanced when the roughness of the hydrophobic and hydrophilic surface is increased, respectively. Based on this mechanism, we have successfully prepared structural color films with superhydrophobic properties, as well as with superhydrophilic properties. Another important property that can be seen in nature is tunable structural color, such as the color change that can be seen on the surface of a damselfish. In order to mimic such color change, we have developed several tunable structural color films. In particular, we have successfully prepared phototunable photonic crystals using photoresponsive azobenzene derivatives. In order to apply these structural color films, we developed a technique for patterning them by taking advantage of the wettability of the substrate surface. These materials can be used in the future for self-cleaning pigments and tunable photonic crystals.  相似文献

Genotyping of F-specific RNA phages is currently one of the most promising approaches to differentiate between human and animal fecal contamination in aquatic environments. In this study, a total of 18 river water and sediment samples were collected from the Tonegawa River basin, Japan, in order to describe the genogroup distribution of F-specific RNA and DNA phages using genogroup-specific real-time PCR assays. F-specific phages were detected in nine (100%) river water and six (67%) sediment samples. Eighty-five phage plaques were isolated from these samples and subjected to real-time PCR assays specific for the phages. F-specific RNA phages of human genogroups (II and III) were detected in 32 (38%) plaques, whereas those of animal genogroups (I and IV) were detected in 17 (20%) plaques. No correlation was observed between the genogroup distribution of F-specific RNA phages and the occurrence of human adenovirus genomes, suggesting that genotyping of the phages alone is inadequate for the evaluation of the occurrence of viruses in aquatic environments. SYBR Green-based real-time PCR assay revealed the presence of F-specific DNA phages in four (5%) plaques, which were further classified into two genogroups (fd- and f1-like phages) by sequence analysis. Thirty-two (38%) plaques were not classified as the F-specific phage genogroups, indicating the limited applicability of these real-time PCR assays to a wide range of aquatic environmental samples worldwide.  相似文献

Microreactors as a novel concept in chemical technology enable the introduction of new reaction procedures in chemistry, pharmaceutical industry, and molecular biology. These miniaturized reaction systems offer many exceptional technical advantages for a large number of applications. One major application is in the bulk synthesis of nanoparticles. Despite the availability of a plethora of nanoparticle synthesis processes, there exist many difficulties in controlling the shape, size, and purity of nanoparticles in large quantities in a safe and cost-effective manner. These difficulties have been the principal factors adversely limiting the applications of ceramic nanoparticles. Recent experiments have shown that to study the process of growth and formation of nanoparticles, a reactor having much smaller dimensions, namely a microreactor is more appropriate. These studies have also shown that a microchannel reactor provides control over the mean residence time and hence over the nanoparticle size and shape. This paper deals with the design, fabrication, and testing issues related to a high temperature, ceramic microreactor by investigating the use of reactive gas streams in arrays of microchannel reactors. These innovations offer the potential to overcome the barriers associated with synthesis of ceramic nanoparticles in large quantities.  相似文献
