Thermolysis of acidic aluminum chloride solution and its products

A saturated acidic aluminum chloride solution with a total composition of AlCl₃·HCl·12H₂O was obtained, and its behavior under thermal treatments was studied using thermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry and mass spectrometry techniques. The thermolysis solid products were characterized with XRD and SEM. Four stages of the thermolysis could be distinguished. Initially, the solution lost free water molecules, and an amorphous precipitate with an approximate composition AlCl₃·HCl·12 H₂O was obtained as a product. The precipitate released eight water molecules in the temperature range 390–425 K. Then, all chlorine atoms in the form of HCl and two water molecules were outgassed at 425–485 K. The product completely lost water up to 650 K. The crystallization of the solid begins with appearance of the phase γ-Al₂O₃ at 1073 K, and the final product, α-Al₂O₃, is observed at 1323 K. The application of the saturated trichloride solutions as a binder and a promoter for activated sintering of composite ceramics on the base of alumina was examined.

Detection of staphylococcal enterotoxin B in spiked food samples

Contamination of food with infectious agents, intentional or not, is a global concern with far-reaching economic and social impact. Staphylococcal enterotoxins are a major cause of food poisoning, but most methods for the identification of these agents in food require extensive pretreatment or concentration of the sample prior to analysis. The array biosensor was developed as a portable device for the simultaneous analysis of multiple complex samples for multiple targets with minimal sample preparation. In this study, we use an array biosensor to expand and improve on a staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB) assay with the ultimate intent of incorporating testing for SEB into a battery of sensitive and convenient assays for food safety validation. In addition to buffer studies, six different types of food samples, including beverages, homogenates of fruit and meat, and carcass washings, were spiked with SEB, incubated for at least 2 h to permit antigen sequestration, and assayed. For all samples, there were differences in fluorescence intensity, but 0.5 ng of SEB per ml could be detected in <20 min with little if any pretreatment and no sample preconcentration.     

植被护坡水流冲刷稳定性试验研究

从植被护坡水流冲刷稳定性设计的角度出发,对紫羊茅草皮及早熟禾草皮分别从坡面流与有压流两个方面进行了水流冲刷稳定性试验。试验结果表明:坡面流间歇冲刷8次,瞬时流速达6.0 m/s,累积冲刷时间120 s,紫羊茅草皮可发生IV级的冲蚀破坏。早熟禾草皮在5.0 m/s的流速下,冲刷1 h后,其草皮层出现最高级别的破坏,测定其发生破坏时的床面剪应力为103.13 Pa,摩阻流速为0.32 m/s。

Parametric robust evaluation of the operating reliability of objects of the chemical branch of industry

The specific nature of a robust approach is considered for analyzing the reliability of objects of the chemical industry on the example of a model for variation of a stream of breakdowns (running time to breakdown) for machines and units during the whole service life using a robust Huber strategy and a Hampel influence function. The adequacy of the parametric model proposed is confirmed by the results of studies applied to pumping and compressor units for a series of chemical products.
