Thirty-two lambs were finished on a total mixed ration (TMR) pelleted alone (00SS) or including sunflower soap stock (SS): 15SS (15 g SS per kg TMR), 30SS (30 g SS per kg TMR) and 60SS (60 g SS per kg TMR). Lambs (8 per group) were slaughtered at 27 kg live weight. Colour evolution, lipid oxidation, microbial growth and detection of diarrhoeagenic Escherichia coli were studied in meat samples. SS in the diet reduced meat lipid oxidation (P <0.05), but had no significant effect (P >0.05) on the cholesterol oxidation products. Meat from 60SS and control animals (00SS) revealed greater discoloration (P <0.05) than 15SS. SS supplementation did not affect the microbiological populations, whereas high doses of SS seemed to increase the proliferation of diarrhoeagenic E. coli on day 14 (P <0.10). These results suggest that the rate of SS inclusion in the diet of fattening lambs should not be above 15 g SS per kg TMR. 相似文献
In the future fifth generation networked society, devices will suffer from the asynchronous multi-carrier effect which impacts the user’s quality of experience. This paper investigates the timing misalignment effect on interference level in the context of a cognitive radio (CR) network. Our study considers both multicarrier techniques orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and filter bank multicarrier (FBMC). The originality of our paper consists in proposing a simple but accurate analytical model to evaluate our system’s performance in terms of interference level, signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio and bit error rate. Specifically, two case studies are considered, a single-user case (one primary user and one secondary user) and a multi-user case with exact theoretical expressions of interference level. We had also made a comparison between OFDM and FBMC techniques. The most striking observation to emerge from our results is that the asynchronous interference is inversely propositional to timing offset even for the multi-user case, and that differences in the normalized interference level between the single/multi-user cases is barely perceived for the FBMC technique, proving its efficiency. Our simulations’ results had further strengthened our confidence in the suggested model. It shows that FBMC is best suited for CR networks since it provides BER improvements compared to OFDM.
The objective of the study was to evaluate the general suitability of ergosterol content, CFU, and colony diameters determinations for a range of fungi representing food spoilage moulds for the assessment of their growth on solid substrates, in particular intermediate moisture foods. Sixteen food-borne mould species were inoculated onto DG18 agar overlaid with cellophane, allowing determination of a direct measurement of biomass density weighing. The samples were also evaluated with regard to visible and microscopic colony diameters, total ergosterol content, Thoma counts, viable CFU counts, and so on. The same parameters were assayed in the spore suspensions obtained from those cultures. Data were evaluated by multivariate data analysis using projection methods such as principal component analysis (PCA), showing some groupings among the measured variables, mainly linked to the sporulating/nonsporulating nature of the different species tested. Ratios among the different variables were obtained, compared among the species, and evaluated along time (2-10 days). It was concluded that, as a general rule for all the species, ergosterol content and colony diameters were better correlated to fungal biomass dry weight than CFU counts were. Conversion factors were 0.3-3 microg ergosterol mg(-1) biomass dry weight and 76-227 mg biomass dry weight cm(-2), depending on the species. 相似文献
Prevention of cancer through dietary intervention recently has received an increasing interest, and dietary polyphenols have become not only important potential chemopreventive, but also therapeutic, natural agents. Polyphenols have been reported to interfere at the initiation, promotion and progression of cancer. They might lead to the modulation of proteins in diverse pathways and require the integration of different signals for the final chemopreventive or therapeutic effect. Polyphenols have been demonstrated to act on multiple key elements in signal transduction pathways related to cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, inflammation, angiogenesis and metastasis; however, these molecular mechanisms of action are not completely characterized and many features remain to be elucidated. The aim of this review is to provide insights into the molecular basis of potential chemopreventive and therapeutic activities of dietary polyphenols with emphasis in their ability to control intracellular signalling cascades considered as relevant targets in a cancer preventive approach. 相似文献
On Friday, September 1, 2006, the facilities of a chemicals distributor in the Spanish town of Caldas de Reis, were almost completely destroyed as a result of a fire. Comprehensive liquid chromatography-fluorescence detection (LC-FD) analyses were performed on plant foods to determine the toxic impact of this kind of accident on population. PAHs from a polluted atmosphere are generally transferred to plants by particle-phase deposition on the waxy leaf cuticle or by uptake in the gas phase through stomata. PAH levels in all samples were not alarming (total PAHs were below 4.240 ng/g) and the PAH profiles were similar, with the exception of peppers, in all vegetal materials (5-to-4 rings ratio of 1–2), suggesting the similarity in source type (the fire). PAH concentrations in plants were related to their surface exposed to air, indicating that the contribution of soil/water PAHs to plants (aerial part) accumulation was insignificant. 相似文献
