The purpose of this study was to investigate the trans fatty acids (TFA) content and distribution in colostrum, mature milk, and diet of adolescent mothers, after TFA declaration in food labels became mandatory in Brazil. Participants were healthy adolescents (n 54, 15–19 years, 1–90 days postpartum) practicing exclusive breastfeeding. Milk samples were collected 3 days after delivery (colostrum) and in the third month postpartum (mature milk) by hand expression. The fatty acid composition of the milk samples was determined by gas chromatography. TFA intake corresponded to 1.23 % of total energy value. Total 18:2 TFA accounted for less than 0.5 % of the energy intake. The amount of total 18:1 TFA (mean ± SEM) was 1.9 % ± 0.14 in colostrum and 1.5 % ± 0.2 in mature milk. The total content of n‐3 PUFA was inversely correlated with the total content of 18:1 TFA in colostrum. Both in colostrum and in mature milk, vaccenic acid (11t‐18:1) was found to be the most abundant 18:1 trans isomer, followed by elaidic acid (9t‐18:1), whereas rumenic acid (9c,11t‐18:2 CLA) was the predominant 18:2 trans isomer. In conclusion, the levels of TFA of industrial sources found in the mother's diet and breast milk (colostrum and mature milk) showed a decrease in relation to those observed in studies conducted prior to the TFA labeling resolution in Brazil. However, the current low intake levels of n‐3 LCPUFA and DHA content in the milk of lactating adolescents may be insufficient for supporting adequate neurological development of the infants.  相似文献

In this study, three antioxidants namely N,N′-di-sec-butyl-p-phenylenediamine (PDA), 2,4,6-Tri-tert-butylphenol/2,6-Di-tert-butylphenol (IONOL), and unsaturated cardanol (U-CDN) were added to babassu biodiesel (BB) at a concentration of 100 mg kg−1 to improve its oxidative stability. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) was used to evaluate the oxidative stability of the samples using synthetic air atmosphere and two temperatures (25 and 110 °C) instead of the conventional Rancimat method. The kinetic parameters were calculated according to Borchardt and Daniels method (ASTM E2041). All doped samples showed higher thermo-oxidative stability when compared to pure babassu biodiesel with increasing activation energies of 66.5% for PDA, 19.4% for IONOL, and 3.9% for U-CDN. At 25 °C, the babassu biodiesel showed a high oxidation reaction rate of 1.76 × 10−15 min−1. For the doped samples at the same temperature, that rate was reduced by a factor of 2, 200, and 3 × 108 times for U-CDN, IONOL, and PDA, respectively. At 110 °C, the BB and the BB + U-CDN samples showed high reaction rates, whereas the formulations with IONOL and PDA had rates reduced by 10 and 7.4 × 103 times, respectively. The thermal data showed R2 values higher than 0.99. All results confirmed the action of the antioxidants in retarding oxidation reactions in biodiesel. DSC is a promising alternative method for the determination of oxidative stability of biodiesel and its formulations with antioxidants.  相似文献

Pain transmission at the spinal cord is modulated by noradrenaline (NA)-mediated actions that arise from supraspinal areas. We studied the locus coeruleus (LC) to evaluate the expression of the cathecolamine-synthetizing enzyme tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and search for local oxidative stress and possible consequences in descending pain modulation in a model of hydrocephalus, a disease characterized by enlargement of the cerebral ventricular system usually due to the obstruction of cerebrospinal fluid flow. Four weeks after kaolin injection into the cisterna magna, immunodetection of the catecholamine-synthetizing enzymes TH and dopamine-β-hydroxylase (DBH) was performed in the LC and spinal cord. Colocalization of the oxidative stress marker 8-OHdG (8-hydroxyguanosine; 8-OHdG), with TH in the LC was performed. Formalin was injected in the hindpaw both for behavioral nociceptive evaluation and the immunodetection of Fos expression in the spinal cord. Hydrocephalic rats presented with a higher expression of TH at the LC, of TH and DBH at the spinal dorsal horn along with decreased nociceptive behavioral responses in the second (inflammatory) phase of the formalin test, and formalin-evoked Fos expression at the spinal dorsal horn. The expression of 8-OHdG was increased in the LC neurons, with higher co-localization in TH-immunoreactive neurons. Collectively, the results indicate increased noradrenergic expression at the LC during hydrocephalus. The strong oxidative stress damage at the LC neurons may lead to local neuroprotective-mediated increases in NA levels. The increased expression of catecholamine-synthetizing enzymes along with the decreased nociception-induced neuronal activation of dorsal horn neurons and behavioral pain signs may indicate that hydrocephalus is associated with alterations in descending pain modulation.  相似文献

Beer is an alcoholic beverage made from a cereal grain extract and is widely consumed in sub‐Saharan Africa and the world at large. However, beer consumption could expose consumers to mycotoxins. In this review, we appraised the different mycotoxins associated with beer contamination, elucidating their structures and incidence in cereals involved in beer production. The common mycotoxins that are found within the brewing process are reviewed. These include aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), fumonisin (FB), ochratoxin A (OTA), zearalenone (ZEA) and deoxynivalenol (DON), which are the prime contaminants in beer produced in sub‐Saharan Africa. Residual levels of <20% of AFB1, OTA and FB2 together with the transformation of ZEA (into a less toxic compound β‐zearalenol) can be achieved during the production of beers originating from Europe/America, while >50% of DON and higher ratios of FB1 can be recovered in finished beer. Adsorption is the major means of mycotoxin removal during beer production. In contrast, traditional African beer processes show no significant efficient removal of mycotoxins. This is because the prevailing environmental conditions during beer production are favourable to mycotoxigenic fungal proliferation. This subsequently leads to relatively high concentration of mycotoxins in freshly processed beer, with a possible increase during the beer shelf‐life owing to the absence of appropriate microbial stabilisation treatments in the finished processed beer. © 2019 The Institute of Brewing & Distilling  相似文献

The NAD+‐dependent deacetylases, namely sirtuins, are involved in the regulation of a variety of biological processes such as gene silencing, DNA repair, longevity, metabolism, apoptosis, and development. An enzyme from the parasite Leishmania infantum that belongs to this family, LiSIR2RP1, is a NAD+‐dependent tubulin deacetylase and an ADP‐ribosyltransferase. This enzyme's involvement in L. infantum virulence and survival underscores its potential as a drug target. Our search for selective inhibitors of LiSIR2RP1 has led, for the first time, to the identification of the antiparasitic and anticancer bisnaphthalimidopropyl (BNIP) alkyl di‐ and triamines (IC50 values in the single‐digit micromolar range for the most potent compounds). Structure–activity studies were conducted with 12 BNIP derivatives that differ in the length of the central alkyl chain, which links the two naphthalimidopropyl moieties. The most active and selective compound is the BNIP diaminononane (BNIPDanon), with IC50 values of 5.7 and 97.4 μM against the parasite and human forms (SIRT1) of the enzyme, respectively. Furthermore, this compound is an NAD+‐competitive inhibitor that interacts differently with the parasite and human enzymes, as determined by docking analysis, which might explain its selectivity toward the parasitic enzyme.  相似文献

Usually in islands both primary energy sources and drinking water are missing. Additionally, municipal solid waste (MSW) must be managed avoiding exclusive use of landfills, which limits sustainable development. Power generation from MSW incineration contributes significantly to replacing energy produced from fossil fuels and to reduce overall emissions. A solution based on thermodynamics, environmental and economic analyses and 3D-GIS modelling for the afore-mentioned problems for Cape Verde is proposed. This model integrates waste transportation optimisation and incineration with energy recovery combining production of heat and power (CHP), the heat being used for drinking water production. The results show that extraction condensing steam turbines are more suitable when power production is a priority (5.0 MW with 4000 m3/d of drinking water), whereas back-pressure turbines yield 5540–6650 m3/d of drinking water with an additional power production of 3.3–4.7 MW. The environmental and economic assessment performed shows the feasibility of the proposed CHP solution, which brings a considerable reduction in net air emissions (1.6 kt), including a significant decrease in the greenhouse gas emissions (131 ktCO2), and that the revenue from energy sales (€15 million) has potential to balance the incineration cost. Moreover, when terrain relief is accounted for in the route optimisation for minimum fuel consumption, savings up to 11% are obtained.  相似文献

The starch granules remaining after enzymatic hydrolysis were analyzed. Enzymatic corrosion efficiency was related to granule diameter. The intrinsic viscosity of enzymatically treated cassava and corn starches was gradually lowered by hydrolysis. X-ray analysis and observation under a polarizing microscope suggested that enzymatic corrosion must occur in amorphous areas of the granules. Scanning electron microscopy showed that, for cassava granules, enzymatic corrosion occured mainly at the surface. Corn starch granules displayed considerable surface corrosion, as well as deep radial corrosion channels.  相似文献

在所有可再生能源中,光伏太阳能只占一小部分,然而在早期采用它的国家中,如日本和德国,却对全球工业体系起到了促进作用,对未来能源需求产生了意义深远的影响。讨论了光伏模块的当前成本和计划中的成本以及为了拓宽光伏太阳能的应用,材料科学能够为降低此成本壁垒而作出贡献的途径。文章对当前统辖市场的相对成熟的单晶硅光伏电池和有可能降低光伏模块成本的薄膜光伏电池进行了比较,指出薄膜光伏电池的转换效率需要提高而且应该能够进行大规模生产。文中给出了当前碲化镉光伏电池材料研究的一些实例,并对它们应如何在将来进行改进提出了建议。  相似文献
