Reports an error in "Ethical dilemmas in sport psychology: A dialogue on the unique aspects impacting practice" by Amy B. Stapleton, Douglas M. Hankes, Kate F. Hays and William D. Parham (Professional Psychology: Research and Practice, 2010[Apr], Vol 41[2], 143-152). Due to a production error, the name of Amy B. Stapleton was substituted for the name of Jeffrey E. The multidisciplinary field of applied sport psychology, a specialty area of psychology practice, has been acknowledged as a proficiency area by the American Psychological Association (APA, 2007). This unique discipline often requires the psychologist to work outside the realm of traditional practice. In doing so, sport psychologists frequently encounter unique ethical dilemmas. In an effort to promote awareness and dialogue, this article describes some of the more commonly faced ethical considerations in applied sport psychology. Issues related to developing and maintaining competence in the field, confidentiality, and boundary issues are discussed, and case examples are provided to illustrate the relevant ethical consideration. Subsequently, three applied sport psychology experts respond to the lead article’s discussion and offer poignant reflections on ethical issues presented. In addition, suggestions for successfully resolving ethical dilemmas related to competence, confidentiality, and boundary issues in sport psychology are discussed. A simple optical attachment has been used to convert a transmission micradensitometer into a reflexion instrument. The sharpness of images contained in gelatin and in optical contact with a diffusing surface was found to be limited by the effect of multiple internal reflex ions in the gelatin layer. Some of the factors affecting the sharpness of reflected black-and-white and colour images are discussed, and oy correcting for the instrument response functions, the results are related to the sharpness of the corresponding negative films. 相似文献

Achieving compliance with the mandatory standards of the 1976 Bathing Water Directive (76/160/EEC) is required at all U.K. identified bathing waters. In recent years, the Fylde coast has been an area of significant investments in 'point source' control, which have not proven, in isolation, to satisfactorily achieve compliance with the mandatory, let alone the guide, levels of water quality in the Directive. The potential impact of riverine sources of pollution was first confirmed after a study in 1997. The completion of sewerage system enhancements offered the potential for the study of faecal indicator delivery from upstream sources comprising both point sources and diffuse agricultural sources. A research project to define these elements commenced in 2001. Initially, a desk study reported here, estimated the principal infrastructure contributions within the Ribble catchment. A second phase of this investigation has involved acquisition of empirical water quality and hydrological data from the catchment during the 2002 bathing season. These data have been used further to calibrate the 'budgets' and 'delivery' modelling and these data are still being analysed. This paper reports the initial desk study approach to faecal indicator budget estimation using available data from the sewerage infrastructure and catchment sources of faecal indicators. 相似文献

Hypersensitivity diseases that involve the eye are common reasons why patients present to eyecare practitioners. Common ocular hypersensitivity disorders include allergic conjunctivitis, giant or contact lens induced papillary conjunctivitis and atopic keratoconjunctivitis. The diagnosis and management of ocular hypersensitivity can present a challenge to eyecare practitioners and an understanding of the mechanisms that underlie the signs and symptoms of such conditions is necessary for their appropriate management. This article reviews the mechanisms by which the eye responds to antigenic challenges, the pathogenesis of ocular hypersensitivity responses, particularly in relation to contact lens wear, and illustrates possible management strategies. 相似文献

We aimed to investigate the role of indoor office air on exposure to polyfluorinated compounds (PFCs) among office workers. Week-long, active air sampling was conducted during the winter of 2009 in 31 offices in Boston, MA. Air samples were analyzed for fluorotelomer alcohols (FTOHs), sulfonamides (FOSAs), and sulfonamidoethanols (FOSEs). Serum was collected from each participant (n = 31) and analyzed for 12 PFCs including PFOA and PFOS. In air, FTOHs were present in the highest concentrations, particularly 8:2-FTOH (GM = 9920 pg/m(3)). FTOHs varied significantly by building with the highest levels observed in a newly constructed building. PFOA in serum was significantly correlated with air levels of 6:2-FTOH (r = 0.43), 8:2-FTOH (r = 0.60), and 10:2-FTOH (r = 0.62). Collectively, FTOHs in air significantly predicted PFOA in serum (p < 0.001) and explained approximately 36% of the variation in serum PFOA concentrations. PFOS in serum was not associated with air levels of FOSAs/FOSEs. In conclusion, FTOH concentrations in office air significantly predict serum PFOA concentrations in office workers. Variation in PFC air concentrations by building is likely due to differences in the number, type, and age of potential sources such as carpeting, furniture, and/or paint. 相似文献
