In order to improve upon certain properties of gelatin graft copolymerization of acrylonitrile (AN) and methacrylonitrile (MAN) onto gelatin has been studied in aqueous medium using γ rays as a source of initiation. Optimum conditions for affording maximum percentage of grafting have been evaluated as a function of various reaction parameters. The grafted polyacrylonitrile (PAN) was isolated from the graft copolymer by acid hydrolysis, and the average molecular weight (Mv) of the isolated polymer has been determined viscometrically. The graft copolymers were characterized by IR spectroscopic methods and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Acrylonitrile was found to be more reactive than methacrylonitrile toward graft copolymerization. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The microstructural evolution following tensile deformation of a hot-rolled and heat treated Fe-8Mn-4Al-0.2C steel was studied. Quenching in the range of 750-800 °C followed by tempering at 200 °C led to a ferrite-austenite mixed microstructure that was characterized by excellent combination of tensile strength of 800-1000 MPa and elongation of 30-40%, and a three-stage work hardening behavior. During the tensile deformation, the retained austenite transformed into martensite and delayed the onset of necking, thus leading to a higher ductility via the transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) effect. The improvement of elongation is attributed to diffusion of carbon from δ-ferrite to austenite during tempering, which improves the stability of austenite, thus contributing to enhanced tensile ductility.  相似文献

We report on the evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties of Fe/W multilayers subjected to helium ion irradiations. Sputtered Fe/W multilayers with individual layer thickness, varying from 1 to 200 nm, were subjected to He+ ion irradiation with a peak displacement per atom value of 6 at ambient temperatures. Helium bubbles, 1-2 nm in diameter, were observed in Fe and W, and more so along layer interfaces. The magnitude of hardness variation after radiation depends on the individual layer thickness. Radiation hardening is observed in specimens with individual layer thickness of ?5 nm. At smaller layer thickness, the hardness barely changes. Analysis indicates that radiation hardening may originate mainly from dislocation loops and partially from He bubbles.  相似文献

In this paper, a fast yet accurate CMOS analog circuit sizing method, referred to as Iterative Sequential Geometric Programming (ISGP), has been proposed. In this methodology, a correction factor has been introduced for each parameter of the geometric programming (GP) compatible device and performance model. These correction factors are updated using a SPICE simulation after every iteration of a sequential geometric programming (SGP) optimization. The proposed methodology takes advantage of SGP based optimization, namely, fast convergence and effectively optimum design and at the same time it uses SPICE simulation to fine tune the design point by rectifying inaccuracy that may exists in the GP compatible device and performance models. In addition, the ISGP considers the requirement of common centroid layout and yield aware design centering for robust final design point specifying the number of fingers and finger widths for each transistor which makes the design point ready for layout.  相似文献

Six triphenylamine-based dyes were explored for their application in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Dyes 1–3 and dyes 4–6 possess cyanoacrylic acid (C-acceptor) and rhodanine-3-acetic acid (R-acceptor), respectively. Stilbene (in dyes 2 and 5) and bis(styryl)benzene (in dyes 3 and 6) were used as π-spacers. There is no π-spacer in the dye 1 and 4. To elucidate the role of π-spacers, optical, electrochemical, and photovoltaic properties of the dyes were studied. Among C-acceptor dyes, dye 2 exhibits the highest light-to-electricity conversion efficiency of 4.45%, followed by dye 3 (4.16%). Similarly, among R-acceptor dyes, dye 5 is the best. These results indicate that stilbene is a better π-spacer over bis(styryl)benzene. Although bis(styryl)benzene could extend the light absorption range (in dye-adsorbed TiO2 film), its tendency to promote intermolecular π-π stacking is possibly the reason for its poor performance in DSSCs. Furthermore, the conjugation break in the R-acceptor moiety attached to the TiO2 surface limits the electron injection of R-acceptor dyes poorer than C-acceptor dyes. Density functional theory calculations were performed for the dye-(TiO2)8 cluster, assuming a bidentate chelation of a carboxylic acid group with Ti4+ of TiO2 anatase. The natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis indicated relatively more electron-accepting ability of cyanoacrylic acid over rhodanine-3-acetic acid.  相似文献

The reference waste package design and operating mode to be used in the Yucca Mountain Repository is reviewed. An alternate (second generation) operating concept and waste package design is proposed to reduce the risk of localized corrosion of waste packages and to reduce repository costs. The second generation waste package design and storage concept is proposed for implementation after the initial licensing and operation of the reference repository design. Implementation of the second generation concept at Yucca Mountain would follow regulatory processes analogous to those used successfully to extend the design life and uprate the power of commercial light water nuclear reactors in the United States. The second generation concept utilizes the benefits of hot dry storage to minimize the potential for localized corrosion of the waste package by liquid electrolytes. The second generation concept permits major reductions in repository costs by increasing the number of fuel assemblies stored in each waste package, by eliminating the need for titanium drip shields and by fabricating the outer container from corrosion resistant low alloy carbon steel.  相似文献
