As-deposited sputtered ZnO:Al (AZO) thin films having high transparency (T?≥?85% at 550 nm of wavelength) and good electrical properties (ρ?=?2.59?×?10?04 Ω cm) are etched to get suitable light trapping in thin film solar cells, using reactive ion etching method in sulfur hexafluoride–argon (SF6/Ar) plasma and trifluoromethane–argon (CHF3/Ar) plasma to texture their surface. Though the electrical properties of the films are not affected much by the etching process but significant increment in the average haze values in the wave length range of 350–1100 nm in the etched AZO films (19.21% for SF6/Ar and 22.07% for CHF3/Ar plasma etched) are found compared to as-deposited AZO films (5.61%). Increment in haze value is due to more scattering of light from the textured surface. These textured substrates are used as front transparent conducting oxide electrode for the fabrication of amorphous silicon solar cells. Solar cells fabricated on etched AZO substrates show 7.76% increase in conversion efficiency compared to as-deposited AZO substrates. 相似文献
Cellular automata (CAs) are dynamical systems which exhibit complex global behavior from simple local interaction and computation. Since the inception of cellular automaton (CA) by von Neumann in 1950s, it has attracted the attention of several researchers over various backgrounds and fields for modeling different physical, natural as well as real-life phenomena. Classically, CAs are uniform. However, non-uniformity has also been introduced in update pattern, lattice structure, neighborhood dependency and local rule. In this survey, we tour to the various types of CAs introduced till date, the different characterization tools, the global behavior of CAs, like universality, reversibility, dynamics etc. Special attention is given to non-uniformity in CAs and especially to non-uniform elementary CAs, which have been very useful in solving several real-life problems.
We have studied the mechanical and morphological properties of carbon nanotube films prepared from tubes produced by a range of commercial suppliers. We find significant correlations between mechanical parameters (modulus, strength, toughness and ductility) and morphological parameters (porosity and bundle diameter). Both strength and toughness scale linearly with the number of inter-bundle junctions per unit volume as calculated from the porosity and bundle size. Applying a simple model, we can use this data to find the average force and energy required to break a junction to be ∼113 pN and 0.7 eV, respectively. This latter value agrees well with the value of 0.9 eV estimated from the nanotube surface energy, indicating that adjacent bundles are bound predominately by van der Waals interactions. 相似文献

This study investigated a number of models (the modified Sips', Dubinin‐Astakhov's, VSM theory, the generalized Khan et al.'s model and a simple artificial neural network (ANN)) to predict the effect of temperature on equilibrium adsorption of hydrocarbon gases and vapors on activated carbon. Published data on the adsorption of methane, ethane and propane on activated carbon at 311 K to 505 K were used to estimate the parameters of the conventional models and train the network. Then, the conventional models and the ANN were used to predict the isotherm at a single temperature for each adsorbate, and these results were compared with experimental data. It was found that the ANN model had a lower mean relative error than the conventional models. 相似文献
We have prepared thin films of arc discharge single walled nanotubes by vacuum filtration. For film thicknesses greater than 40 nm, the films are of high optical quality; the optical transmission varies by <2% over the film area when measured with a spatial resolution of 4 μm. However, the films become spatially non-uniform for film thickness below 40 nm. The in-plane DC conductivity correlates with the uniformity, increasing from ∼3800 S/m for a 10 nm thick film to ∼2-2.5 × 105 S/m for films of thickness >40 nm. Conductive atomic force microscopy maps show reasonably uniform current flow out of the plane of the film. For all thicknesses, the optical transmittance scales with film thickness as expected for a thin conducting film with optical conductivity of 1.7 × 104 S/m (λ = 550 nm). For films with t > 40 nm the ratio of DC to optical conductivity was σDC/σOp = 13.0, leading to values of transmittance and sheet resistance such as T = 80% and Rs = 110 Ω/□ for the t = 40 nm film. Electromechanically, these films were very stable showing conductivity changes of <5% and <2% when cycled over 2000 times in compression and tension respectively. 相似文献
Graphite is exfoliated in water to give dispersions of mono‐ and few‐layer graphene stabilized by surfactant. These dispersions can be used to form thin, disordered films of randomly stacked, oxide‐free, few‐layer graphenes. These films are transparent with a direct current conductivity of up to 1.5 × 104 S m?1. The conductivity is stable under flexing for at least 2000 cycles. The electrical properties are limited by disorder and aggregation suggesting future routes for improvement. 相似文献
This work investigates the role of carbon nanotube (CNT) tribolayer formation in reducing friction and adhesion of an Al-alloy engine block material (Al-6.5% Si, 319 Al) sliding against a common piston ring coating, namely, CrN coated steel, when tested under a boundary lubricated condition. Coefficient of friction (COF) values were determined using pin-on-disk type tests as a function of sliding distance using CNT added to ethanol and ethanol without CNT addition. Boundary lubricated tests that used ethanol with 0.14 wt.% CNT resulted in a steady-state COF of 0.16, and reduced Al adhesion to the CrN due to the formation of CNT tribolayers on the Al-alloy contact surfaces. Raman spectroscopy and high resolution SEM suggested the CNT fibers in the tribolayers were damaged and possibly subjected to plastic deformation, and the carbon bonds were possibly passivated by the -H and -OH dissociated from ethanol as suggested by FTIR. The low friction and adhesion observed when ethanol with 0.14 wt.% CNT was used was attributed to the sliding-induced bending and curling of the CNT tribolayers, leading to the formation of rolled sections of tribolayer with a cylindrical morphology (diameter of ~?1 µm) that reduced direct contact between Al-alloy and CrN surfaces. 相似文献
