Function of Graphene Oxide as the “Nanoquencher” for Hg2+ Detection Using an Exonuclease I-Assisted Biosensor

Graphene oxide is well known for its excellent fluorescence quenching ability. In this study, positively charged graphene oxide (pGO25000) was developed as a fluorescence quencher that is water-soluble and synthesized by grafting polyetherimide onto graphene oxide nanosheets by a carbodiimide reaction. Compared to graphene oxide, the fluorescence quenching ability of pGO25000 is significantly improved by the increase in the affinity between pGO25000 and the DNA strand, which is introduced by the additional electrostatic interaction. The FAM-labeled single-stranded DNA probe can be almost completely quenched at concentrations of pGO25000 as low as 0.1 μg/mL. A simple and novel FAM-labeled single-stranded DNA sensor was designed for Hg²⁺ detection to take advantage of exonuclease I-triggered single-stranded DNA hydrolysis, and pGO25000 acted as a fluorescence quencher. The FAM-labeled single-stranded DNA probe is present as a hairpin structure by the formation of T–Hg²⁺–T when Hg²⁺ is present, and no fluorescence is observed. It is digested by exonuclease I without Hg²⁺, and fluorescence is recovered. The fluorescence intensity of the proposed biosensor was positively correlated with the Hg²⁺ concentration in the range of 0–250 nM (R² = 0.9955), with a seasonable limit of detection (3σ) cal. 3.93 nM. It was successfully applied to real samples of pond water for Hg²⁺ detection, obtaining a recovery rate from 99.6% to 101.1%.     

葡聚糖/PDA复合凝胶的制备、表征及其染料吸附性能研究

以葡聚糖和聚多巴胺(PDA)为原料、环氧氯丙烷(EPI)为交联剂制备葡聚糖/PDA复合凝胶(DPE),并将其应用于亚甲基蓝(MB)的吸附。利用场发射扫描电镜(SEM)、红外光谱仪(FTIR)、电子万能试验机等设备对DPE的结构和性能进行表征。探讨了EPI用量对DPE微观孔径和机械性能的影响,利用紫外可见分光光度计(UV-vis)考察了DPE对MB的吸附性能。结果表明：DPE的微观孔径与EPI添加量成反比,机械性能与EPI添加量成正比。EPI对MB的吸附在80 min左右达到吸附平衡,最大吸附量为36 mg·g^-1,其吸附行为更符合准二级吸附动力学模型,说明DPE对MB的吸附主要为化学吸附。     

实施汽轮机单阀改顺序阀运行效果分析

岱海发电厂Ⅰ期2台600MW汽轮机为上海汽轮机有限公司引进美国西屋技术生产的汽轮机,在单阀切顺序阀运行后存在瓦温高、轴振大、上下缸温差大等问题。针对这些问题,进行了单阀切换为顺序阀试验,对存在的问题采取了改进措施,有效地提高了机组效率。     

Antireflection and band gap extension effects of ZnO nanocrystalline films grown on ITO-coated glasses by low temperature process

Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanocrystalline films coated on indium tin oxides (ITO, 90:10 wt%) glasses were prepared by low temperature process. The thin films were composed of uniform nanoparticles with average diameter around 8.4 nm. All samples exhibited excellent optical antireflective phenomena, and the maximum transmission reached 92.8% for the sample spin coated at 1500 rpm at 453 nm, improved by 21.5%. The antireflective results were explained by the coherence theory. And the antireflective effects were induced by the ITO and ZnO films. The calculated thicknesses of the ZnO films agreed well with the experimental results. The theoretical calculated band gap from the average diameter of ZnO nanoparticles was also well consistent with the experimental ones obtained from the optical transmission spectra. This result was promising for applications in organic solar cells.

Large-scale fabrication of bioinspired fibers for directional water collection

Spider-silk inspired functional fibers with periodic spindle-knots and the ability to collect water in a directional manner are fabricated on a large scale using a fluid coating method. The fabrication process is investigated in detail, considering factors like the fiber-drawing velocity, solution viscosity, and surface tension. These bioinspired fibers are inexpensive and durable, which makes it possible to collect water from fog in a similar manner to a spider's web.

Torsion sensor based on two cascaded long period fiber gratings fabricated by CO2 laser pulse irradiation and HF etching technique respectively

A novel torsion sensor is proposed, which is composed of one long period fibre grating and one asymmetrically corrugated long period fibre grating based on the high-frequency CO₂ laser pulses technology and burning fibre coating and etching cladding technology, respectively. By combing the advantages of the two aforementioned elements, a sensitivity of 331.7 and 310.3 pm/(rad/m) towards clockwise and anticlockwise direction, respectively, is reached in the experiments.
