The effects of parasitic air gaps on the input impedance and radiation characteristics of dense double-shell integrated lens antennas are studied numerically at millimetre waves using the finite-difference time-domain method. The lens core is made up of Macor or silicon, and is coated with a quarter wavelength matching layer. Two kinds of gaps are compared: they are located either (i) between both shells of the lens, or (ii) between the lens base and the feed substrate. We show that their impact is much more critical in the second case, and that it becomes dramatic for silicon lenses, even with very thin gaps (smaller than ? 0/100); the three major observed effects are the following: (i) strong shift of the resonant frequency, (ii) beam broadening and directivity loss, (iii) increase of the side lobe level.  相似文献

China has set an ambitious target to increase its wind power capacity by 35 GW from 2007 to 2020. The country’s hunger for clean power provides great opportunities for wind energy investors. However, risks from China’s uncertain electricity market regulation and an uncertain energy policy framework, mainly due to uncertain Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) benefits, prevent foreign investors from investing in China’s wind energy. The objectives of this paper are to: (1) quantify wind energy investment risk premiums in an uncertain international energy policy context and (2) evaluate the impact of uncertain CDM benefits on the net present values of wind power projects. With four scenarios, this study simulates possible prices of certified emissions reductions (CERs) from wind power projects. Project net present values (NPVs) have been calculated. The project risk premiums are drawn from different and uncertain CER prices. Our key findings show that uncertain CDM benefits will significantly affect the project NPVs. This paper concludes that the Chinese government needs revising its tariff incentives, most likely by introducing fixed feed-in tariffs (FITs), and re-examining its CDM-granting policy and its wind project tax rates, to facilitate wind power development and enable China to achieve its wind energy target.  相似文献

This paper presents some forecasting techniques for energy demand and price prediction, one day ahead. These techniques combine wavelet transform (WT) with fixed and adaptive machine learning/time series models (multi-layer perceptron (MLP), radial basis functions, linear regression, or GARCH). To create an adaptive model, we use an extended Kalman filter or particle filter to update the parameters continuously on the test set. The adaptive GARCH model is a new contribution, broadening the applicability of GARCH methods. We empirically compared two approaches of combining the WT with prediction models: multicomponent forecasts and direct forecasts. These techniques are applied to large sets of real data (both stationary and non-stationary) from the UK energy markets, so as to provide comparative results that are statistically stronger than those previously reported. The results showed that the forecasting accuracy is significantly improved by using the WT and adaptive models. The best models on the electricity demand/gas price forecast are the adaptive MLP/GARCH with the multicomponent forecast; their NMSEs are 0.02314 and 0.15384 respectively.  相似文献

Thermal modeling of a cylindrical LiFePO4/graphite lithium-ion battery   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A lumped-parameter thermal model of a cylindrical LiFePO4/graphite lithium-ion battery is developed. Heat transfer coefficients and heat capacity are determined from simultaneous measurements of the surface temperature and the internal temperature of the battery while applying 2 Hz current pulses of different magnitudes. For internal temperature measurements, a thermocouple is introduced into the battery under inert atmosphere. Heat transfer coefficients (thermal resistances in the model) inside and outside the battery are obtained from thermal steady state temperature measurements, whereas the heat capacity (thermal capacitance in the model) is determined from the transient part. The accuracy of the estimation of internal temperature from surface temperature measurements using the model is validated on current-pulse experiments and a complete charge/discharge of the battery and is within 1.5 °C. Furthermore, the model allows for simulating the internal temperature directly from the measured current and voltage of the battery. The model is simple enough to be implemented in battery management systems for electric vehicles.  相似文献

The present investigation consists of two studies examining the effects of cross-language transfer on the development of phonological awareness and literacy skills among Chinese children who received different amounts of English instruction. Study 1 compared Chinese students in regular English programs (92 first graders and 93 third graders) with peers who did not receive English instruction (86 first graders and 91 third graders). Study 2 was a 2-year longitudinal study that followed Chinese children from the beginning of Grade 1 to the end of Grade 2; the children attended either an intensive English program (79 children) or a regular English program (80 children). In both studies, children received phonological awareness tasks in English and Chinese, and literacy measures in Chinese. Results suggest that (a) English instruction accelerates the development of Chinese phonological awareness and Pinyin skills through cross-language transfer; (b) the pattern of cross-language transfer reflects the phonological features of English, the source language; and (c) a threshold level of 2nd language proficiency is required before any positive effects can be detected in the 1st language. This work presents an analytical approach to investigate the mechanical and thermal buckling of functionally graded materials sandwich truncated conical shells resting on Pasternak elastic foundations, subjected to thermal load and axial compressive load. Shells are reinforced by closely spaced stringers and rings, in which the material properties of shells and stiffeners are graded in the thickness direction following a general sigmoid law distribution and a general power law distribution. Four models of coated shell-stiffener arrangements are investigated. The change of spacing between stringers in the meridional direction also is taken into account. Two cases on uniform temperature rise and linear temperature distribution through the thickness of shell are considered. Using the first-order shear deformation theory, Lekhnitskii smeared stiffener technique and the adjacent equilibrium criterion, the linearization stability equations have been established. Approximate solution satisfies simply supported boundary conditions and Galerkin method is applied to obtain closed-form expression for determining the critical compression buckling load and thermal buckling load in cases uniform temperature rise and linear temperature distribution across the shell thickness. The effects of temperature, foundation, core layer, coating layer, stiffeners, material properties, dimensional parameters and semi-vertex angle on buckling behaviors of shell are shown.  相似文献

In Vietnam, the primary energy consumption has increased rapidly over the past decade, and the government promotes the vehicle emission standards and the development of renewable energy to complement fossil fuel. In concert with the government policy on these problems, motorcycle manufacturing companies have applied new technologies to reduce pollution emissions and fuel consumption. However, these technologies been applied only to new vehicles before selling on the market; as a result, they cannot solve the primary inducement due to a large quantity of used motorcycles in Vietnam. This research has developed a new fuel system that enables used gasoline motorcycles to operate on 100% ethanol, a type of renewable energy, which is widely used as a proportion in spark ignition engines. The research results showed satisfactorily that the motorcycles retrofitted the new fuel system can reduce significantly emission and fuel consumption.  相似文献

Magnesium phosphate conversion coating (MPCC) was fabricated on AZ31 magnesium alloy for corrosion protection by immersion treatment in a simple MPCC solution containing Mg2+ and PO3?4 ions. The MPCC on AZ31 Mg alloy showed micro-cracks structure and a uniform thickness with the thickness of about 2.5 µm after 20 min of phosphating treatment. The composition analyzed by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that the coating consisted of magnesium phosphate and magnesium hydroxide/oxide compounds. The MPCC showed a significant protective effect on AZ31 Mg alloy. The corrosion current of MPCC was reduced to about 3% of that of the uncoated surface and the time for the deterioration process during immersion in 0.5 mol/L NaCl solution improved from about 10 min to about 24 h.  相似文献
