The water solubilities (S), octanol/water partition coefficients (Kow) and bioconcentration factors (BCF) of four polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) fluids covering a wide range of molecular weight were measured. It is shown that a previously described correlation between S and Kow for organic chemicals may be invalid for PDMS fluids; an alternative correlation is proposed. Some PDMS fluids tend to have a bioconcentration potential in silver carp.  相似文献

A rectangular specimen of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) was soaked in a titania solution composed of titanium isopropoxide, water, ethanol and nitric acid at 25 °C for 1 h. An amorphous titanium oxide was formed uniformly on the surface of PET specimen, but did not form an apatite on its surface in a simulated body fluid (SBF) within 3 d. The PET plate formed with the amorphous titanium oxide was subsequently soaked in water or HCl solutions with different concentrations at 80 °C for different periods of time. The titanium oxide on PET was transformed into nano-sized anatase by the water treatment and into nano-sized brookite by 0.10 M HCl treatment at 80 °C for 8 d. The former did not form the apatite on its surface in SBF within 3 d, whereas the latter formed the apatite uniformly on its surface. Adhesive strength of the titanium oxide and apatite layers to PET plate was increased by pre-treatment of PET with 2 wt% NaOH solution at 40 °C for 2 h. A two-dimensional fabric of PET fibers 24 μm in diameter was subjected to the NaOH pre-treatment at 40 °C, titania solution treatment at 25 °C and subsequent 0.10 M HCl treatment at 80 °C. Thus treated PET fabric formed the apatite uniformly on surfaces of individual fibers constituting the fabric in SBF within 3 d. Two or three dimensional PET fabrics modified with the nano-sized brookite on surfaces of the individual fibers constituting the fabric by the present method are believed to be useful as flexible bone substitutes, since they could be integrated with living bone through the apatite formed on their constituent fibers.  相似文献

Molecular transport through nanoscale pores in films, membranes and wall structures is of fundamental importance in a number of physical, chemical and biological processes. However, there is a lack of experimental methods that can obtain information on the structure and orientation of the molecules as they pass through the pore, and their interactions with the pore during passage. Imaging with a transmission electron microscope is a powerful method for studying structural changes in single molecules as they move and for imaging molecules confined inside carbon nanotubes. Here, we report that such imaging can be used to observe the structure and orientation of a hydrocarbon chain as it passes through nanoscale defects in the walls of a single-walled carbon nanotube to the vacuum outside, and also to study the interactions between the chain and the nanopore. Based on experiments at 293 K and 4 K we conclude that the major energy source for the molecular motions observed at 4 K is the electron beam used for the imaging.  相似文献

The time domain evaluation of the frequency-dependent dynamic stiffness was studied and some transform methods are being proposed. In this paper, the nonlinear response analysis method of the dynamic stiffness with both frequency and strain dependency was studied. First, the frequency-dependent complex stiffness was calculated at each strain level, and then they were transformed to the impulse response in the time domain. The characteristics of the complex stiffness and the impulse response of both two-layered soil and viscoelastic dampers were investigated. Then, the nonlinear time-history response analysis method considering both dependencies using the impulse response of each strain level was proposed. The earthquake response analysis of a structure on the two-layered soil was carried out as an example. The efficiency of the method was confirmed through these investigations.  相似文献

We have investigated the dependence of the mutation frequency on the dose and dose rate of artificial radiation using the Whack-A-Mole (WAM) model that we recently proposed. In particular, we pay special attention to the case of long-term and low-dose-rate exposure. Our results indicate that the WAM model successfully describes the dose-rate dependence, and it can replace the so-called dose and dose-rate effectiveness factor (DDREF), which has been used for long, to account for the differences between high-dose-rate and low-dose-rate data. The basic properties of the WAM model are discussed with special emphasis on the dose-rate dependence in order to demonstrate how the dose-rate dependence, which is built into the model explicitly, plays a key role. Biological effects of long-term exposure to extremely low-dose-rate radiation are discussed in light of analysis of mega-mouse experiments using the WAM model. In the WAM model, the effects of long-term exposure show a saturation property, thus making it distinctly different from the ‘linear no threshold (LNT)’ hypothesis that predicts a linear increase of the effects with time.  相似文献

We developed a fully automated electrophoresis system for rapid and highly reproducible protein analysis. All the two-dimensional (2D) electrophoresis procedures including isoelectric focusing (IEF), on-part protein staining, sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), and in situ protein detection were automatically completed. The system comprised Peltiert devices, high-voltage generating devices, electrodes, and three disposable polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) parts for IEF, reaction chambers, and SDS-PAGE. Because of miniaturization of the IEF part, rapid IEF was achieved in 30 min. A gel with a tapered edge gel on the SDS-PAGE part realized a connection between the parts without use of a gluing material. A biaxial conveyer was employed for the part relocation, sample introduction, and washing processes to realize a low-maintenance and cost-effective automation system. Performances of the system and a commercial minigel system were compared in terms of detected number, resolution, and reproducibility of the protein spots. The system achieved high-resolution comparable to the minigel system despite shorter focusing time and smaller part dimensions. The resulting reproducibility was better or comparable to the performance of the minigel system. Complete 2D separation was achieved within 1.5 h. The system is practical, portable, and has automation capabilities.  相似文献

An electrochemical DNA chip using an electrochemically active intercalator and DNA probe immobilized on a gold electrode has been developed for genetic analysis. In this study, the six polymorphisms associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), N-acetyltransferase2 (NAT2) gene polymorphisms T341C, G590A, and G857A, methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene polymorphisms C677T and A1298C, and serum amyloid A1 (SAA1) gene promoter polymorphism C-13T were simultaneously detected by the electrochemical DNA chip and the loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) method, which is a novel technique for DNA amplification. Human genomic DNAs were extracted from blood, and the targets containing the six polymorphisms were amplified by the LAMP method. A sample containing the six LAMP products was reacted with the electrochemical DNA chip using a DNA detection system that controls hybridization reaction, washing, electrochemical detection, and data analysis automatically. A total of 31 samples were genotyped by this method, and the results were completely consistent with those determined by the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) analysis or the PCR direct sequence analysis. The time required for this method was only 2 h, and operations were very simple. Therefore, this method is expected to contribute to personalized medicine based on genotype.  相似文献

Application of reaction-produced γ-rays to diagnostics of energetic particles in burning plasmas is analyzed. Particularly, we focus on 0.981 MeV γ-rays emitted in the nuclear reaction solely governed in the plasmas by energetic tritons. It is shown that these γ quanta can serve as a promising tool to diagnose α knock-on tritons and α-particles confined in burning DT plasmas. Key parameters of the α knock-on triton population and the α-particle confinement property can be obtained by comparing the experimental γ-ray yield and spectrum with theoretical slowing-down calculations. Even if the γ-ray spectral shape cannot be acquired, one can monitor densities of these tritons and α-particles at energies of 0.6–1.8 MeV and 2.0–3.5 MeV, respectively, in a nearly steady-state plasma. The 0.981-MeV photons also would help to display time evolution of the α-particle population in experiments of deuterium plasmas with pulsed tritium beam shots.  相似文献
