Production of new steel grades in the oxygen-converter shop

The production of new steel grades in the oxygen-converter shop by means of the ladle-treatment system introduced at OAO Magnitogorskii Metallurgicheskii Kombinat in 2010 is considered. That system includes two-position ladle-furnace unit 2; a two-position vacuum-treatment unit; and a two-position low-intensity injection unit. This system is used to produce high-strength pipe steel with specified hydrogen content; and low-alloy steel with guaranteed nitrogen content (no more than 0.006%) and sulfur content (??0.002%), for the production of large-diameter pipe.     

The structural state of ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene in single-stage arc-discharge plasma deposition of nanoparticles

We present the results of a study of the structural state of ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene (morphology, X-ray-diffraction patterns, IR spectra) obtained in a single technological cycle combining the synthesis of nanoparticles and their deposition onto the surface of polymer microgranules. Technological conditions for the preservation of the initial state of ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene are found for its presence in the zone of thermal action of the plasma flow. Mechanisms of degradation of the polymer are discussed.     

Strengthening coating based on silica nanoparticles for soda-lime-silica glass

We have developed a strengthening coating based on silica nanoparticles for soda-lime-silica glass, examined conditions for the synthesis of SiO₂ particles with tailored structure and application of coating of necessary thickness to glass through adsorption from solution, and optimized heat treatment of the coated glass. The nanohardness and centrosymmetric bending strength of the coated glass have been measured, and the mechanism behind the coating-induced increase in glass strength is discussed.     

Multiparadigm modeling by the SODAR-2 language

The SODAR-2 modeling language designed for specifying user commands to automate the integrity control of multi-language program projects is described. Using a model of the program project of the “double black box” type that is abstracted from the specific content of computing processes, we demonstrate the capabilities and benefits of interpretation metaprogramming in small projects utilizing program codes that are freely accessible in the Internet. The fragments of programs generated in the run of the processes of such metaprograms are presented.     

Strength of prestrained fixing joints in airborne vehicles

The results of investigations concerning the stress-deformed state, strength, and productive life of fixing joints (bolted connections, rivets, etc.) which are finding ever-widening application in designs of wide-body aircrafts (Boeing, Ilyushin Experimental Design Office, Antonov Experimental Design Office, etc.) are considered. Initial stresses are reached by interference fitting of fixing joints into the holes of the parts to be connected that can result in significant plastic deformations in the connected parts and an increase in fatigue life (by several (6–20) times).     

Antiscaling treatment of water by an electric field in heat-supply networks

Electrochemical and chemical reactions that take place under antiscaling treatment of water by an electric field in heat-supply networks are presented. The high level of effectiveness of this process is shown, and its main technological parameters are determined.     

Two algorithms for approximate construction of the set of positional absorption in the game problem of pursuit

Consideration is given to the differential game on the finite period of time in which the first player has to guarantee that the phase point will entry the terminal set and the second one must ensure the evasion of the terminal set on this interval. Is proposed a method for approximate construction of the set of positional absorption, i.e, the set of all initial points for which the problem of pursuit posed for the first player is solvable. The method is based on unification constructions and structures close to them. Relations defining the system of sets that approximates the set of positional absorption are written out. The convergence of the approximating system to the set of positional absorption is proved.
