The method of the efficient analysis of di(2‐diethylhexyl) phthalate, tri(2‐ethylhexyl) trimellitate, di(2‐ethylhexyl) terephthalate, and other phthalate plasticizers concentrations in plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) was developed. The method is based on quantitative dissolution of the PVC sample in methyl ethyl ketone with the consequent precipitation of PVC with hexane and concentration of phthalate in an organic layer. A capillary column‐based gas chromatographic technique for phthalates separation and quantification was developed and used in conjunction with the PVC and phthalates dissolution technique. The developed method of phthalate plasticizers analysis proved to be relatively fast, reproducible, and straightforward. J. VINYL ADDIT. The synthesis of high-entropy metal carbide powders is critical for implementing their extensive applications. However, the one-step synthesis of high-entropy metal carbide powders is rarely studied. Herein, the synthesis possibility of high-entropy metal carbide powders, namely (Zr0.25Ta0.25Nb0.25Ti0.25)C (ZTNTC), via one-step carbothermal reduction was first investigated theoretically by analyzing chemical thermodynamics and lattice size difference based on the first-principle calculations, and then the ZTNTC powders with particle size of 0.5-2 μm were successfully synthesized experimentally. The as-synthesized powders not only had a single rock-salt crystal structure of metal carbides, but also possessed high-compositional uniformity from nanoscale to microscale. More interestingly, they exhibited the distinguished coral-like morphology with the hexagonal step surface, whose growth was governed by a classical screw dislocation growth mechanism.  相似文献

Measurement of mechanical parameters of polymeric scaffolds presents a significant challenge due to their intricate shape and small characteristics dimensions of their elements—around 100 μm. In this study, mechanical properties of polymeric tubing and scaffold, made of biodegradable poly(l ‐lactic) acid (PLLA), were characterized using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and nanoindentation, complemented with tensile testing. AFM was employed to assess the properties of the tube and scaffold locally, while nanoindentation produced results with a dependency on the depth of indentation. As a result, the AFM‐measured elastic modulus differs from the nanoindentation data due to a substantial difference in indentation depth between the two methods. With AFM, a modulus between 2 and 2.5 GPa was measured, while a wide range was obtained from nanoindentation on both the tube and scaffold, depending on the indentation scale. Changes in the elastic modulus with in‐vitro degradation and aging were observed over the 1‐year period. To complement the indentation measurements, tensile testing was used to study the structural behavior of the tube, demonstrating the yielding, hardening and fracture properties of the material. Processes involving particles, are known to exhibit extremely unpredictable behaviour, mainly due to the mesoscopic nature of granular media. Understanding particulate processes, not only for intellectual satisfaction, but also for process design and operation, basically requires a systems approach in modelling. Because they combine simplicity and flexibility, the stochastic models based on the Markov chain theory are very valuable mathematical tools to this respect. However, they are still largely ignored by the whole core of chemical engineering researchers. This motivates the existence of this review paper, in which we examine the three traditional issues: mixing and transport, separation and transformation.  相似文献

The effect of three Group IV metals (titanium, zirconium and tin) on the growth, morphology and chemical composition of the freshwater diatom Synedra acus subsp. radians (Kützing) Skabichevsky was studied and compared with germanium. The elements in their highest oxidation states were introduced into the culture medium in the form of hydroxides. Germanium was found to be toxic at ??5?mol. % of the total Ge-Si content in the culture medium. In the presence of other elements, a slight decrease in the cell division rate was observed independent of the element within 1?C15% content interval. The analysis of the obtained biomass and silica valves revealed the presence of all the added elements within the cells. However, only germanium was incorporated into the valves in considerable amounts. S. acus cultivation with the addition of 5% Group IV elements resulted in cells having the following aberrations in the structure of the silica valves: changes in valve shape, thickening of valves, alterations of the areolae rows, irregularity or absence of the areolae and a decrease in the mechanical strength of valves. Moreover, the effect of Group IV elements on silica formation was simulated in vitro using a synthetic polymer bearing polyamine and phosphate groups found in silaffines (proteins from diatom frustules). The studied elements were observed to provoke the formation of unstable silica particles in solution. We propose that the observed effects of germanium, titanium, zirconium and tin on diatom growth and structure are due to uncontrollable silica condensation.  相似文献

Solvatochromic merocyanine dyes were immobilized onto polymer surfaces and copolymerized with acrylic resins, yielding novel reversibly solvatochromic polymers, which were used as solvent polarity indicators that exhibited different colors in water and alcohols. To generate solvatochromic polymer for solvent polarity indication, two solvatochromic merocyanine dyes containing moieties, which allow their immobilization onto polymer surfaces, or copolymerization with acrylic and vinyl monomers, were sequentially synthesized in four and six steps. Merocyanine dye (E)‐2‐(2‐(1‐(6‐aminohexyl)pyridinium‐4‐yl)vinyl)‐4,6‐dichlorophenolate (AHPVD) was prepared with a terminal aminohexyl group which allowed covalent bonding to activated carboxylated or sulfonated polymeric materials. The dyes were covalently bonded to the polymer surfaces, such as, nylon, polycarbonate, polyethylene terephthalate, and silicone. Solvatochromic merocyanine dye (E)‐2‐(2‐(1‐(6‐acrylamidohexyl)pyridinium‐4‐yl)vinyl)‐4,6‐dichlorophenolate (AAPVD) was synthesized for radical copolymerization with acrylate and vinyl monomers and oligomers. Side‐chain solvatochromic merocyanine‐containing hydrophilic polymers with differential water and alcohol absorption were obtained upon photoinitiated radical copolymerization with specially formulated acrylated resins. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Interface evolution caused by thermal aging under different temperatures and durations was investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It was found that approximately 30-nm-thick and discontinuous Cu-Al intermetallic compounds (IMCs) were present in the initial bonds before aging. Cu-Al IMCs grew under thermal aging with increasing aging time. The growth kinetics of the Cu-Al IMCs was correlated to the diffusion process during aging; their combined activation energy was estimated to be 1.01 eV. Initially, Al-rich Cu-Al IMCs formed in the as-bonded state and early stage of aging treatment. Cu9Al4 was identified by selected-area electron diffraction (SAD) as the only type of Cu-Al IMC present after thermal aging at 250°C for 100 h; this is attributed to the relatively short supply of aluminum to the interfacial reaction.  相似文献

Materials with negative Poisson’s ratio (NPR) effects have been studied for decades. However, the studies have mainly focused on 2D periodic structures which only have NPR effects in certain in-plane directions. In this paper, a novel concept is proposed to develop composite structures with isotropic NPR effects using NPR random inclusions. The study starts from a finite element analysis of deformation mechanisms of two 2D representative cells which are embedded with a re-entrant square and a re-entrant triangle, respectively. Based on the analysis results, the re-entrant triangles are selected as random inclusions into a matrix to form 2D composite structures. Four such composite structures are built with different numbers of inclusions through a parametric model, and their NPR effects and mechanical behaviors are analyzed using the finite element method. The results show that the isotropic NPR effects of composites can be obtained with high random re-entrant inclusions. Thus, the novel concept proposed is numerically proved by this study.  相似文献
