Glutathione (GSH) is important in maintaining intracellular thiol status. The present study looked at the effect of GSH depletion on lipid composition of colon-derived HT-29 cells. GSH was depleted in HT-29 cells by incubation either with buthionine-S, R-sulfoximine (BSO) or diethylmaleate (DEM). GSH was restored during early periods of cells growth by supplementation of growth medium with either GSH ester or N-acetyl cysteine (NAC). Lipids were analysed following GSH depletion and supplementation. Among the neutral lipids, an increase in free cholesterol and diacylglycerol and decrease in cholesteryl ester and triacylglycerol were seen in GSH-depleted cells as compared to control cells. There were no detectable free fatty acids either in control or GSH-depleted cells. Among the phospholipids, a decrease in phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylinositol and an increase in phosphatidylethanolamine were observed. These changes were a completely reversed by supplementation of BSO-treated cells with GSH ester and partially reversed by N-acetyl cysteine. These results suggest that the GSH status of the cell plays an important role in the lipid composition of the cells. 相似文献

Thin-film capacitors of erbium fluoride were fabricated by electron beam gun deposition. The current-voltage characteristics of the erbium fluoride films were studied in the temperature range 323 to 396 K. For sufficiently high electric fields (>104 V cm–1), the leakage current increases exponentially with the square root of the applied field. Analysis of the data suggests an electrode-limited mechanism such as that suggested by Schottky. We report the demonstration of 55 nm gate length strained n-channel field-effect transistors (n-FETs) having an embedded Si1-xGex structure that is beneath the Si channel region and which acts as a strain-transfer structure (STS). The Si1-xGex STS has lattice interactions with both the silicon source and drain regions and with the overlying Si channel region. This effectively results in a transfer of lateral tensile strain to the Si channel region for electron mobility enhancement. The mechanism of strain transfer is explained. Significant drive current Ion enhancement of 18% at a fixed off-state leakage Ioff of 100 nA/mum is achieved, which is attributed to the strain-induced mobility enhancement. Furthermore, continuous downsizing of transistors leads to higher Ion enhancement in the strained n-FETs, which is consistent with the increasing transconductance Gm improvement when the gate length is reduced. 相似文献

A new fast adaptive high-performance filter (FAHPF) has been proposed to remove salt-and-pepper noise in images. ‘Maximize the speed without compromising denoising performance’ is the fundamental intention to build up the FAHPF algorithm. Among diverse phases of filtering employed in the FAHPF, overlapping medians (OM) is our newly proposed frame-based filtering concept which is the basis for speed of FAHPF and running averages embedded with OM is an idea behind excellent denoising performance of FAHPF at the same pace. Simulation experiments have been conducted and denoising results of FAHPF has been investigated against very recently developed filtering methods. It is proved that the FAHPF excellently outperforms many of state-of-the-art filters considered for comparison, in terms of peak signal to noise ratio, structural similarity index, and visual representation and requires the extremely shortest execution time among all, which could make it as a real time filter. 相似文献

ABSTRACT Proper modelling of a fluidized bed drier (FBD) is important to design model based control strategies. A FBD is a non-linear multivariable system with non-minimum phase characteristics. Due to the complexities in FBD conventional modelling techniques are cumbersome. Artificial neural network (ANN) with its inherent ability to “learn” and “absorb” non-linearities, presents itself as a convenient tool for modelling such systems. In this work, an ANN model for continuous drying FBD is presented. A three layer fully connected feedfordward network with three inputs and two outputs is used. Backpropagation learning algorithm is employed to train the network. The training data is obtained from computer simulation of a FBD model from published literature. The trained network is evaluated using randomly generated data as input and observed to predict the behaviour of FBD adequately. 相似文献

A Si/SiC ceramic was prepared from cotton fabric by the reactive infiltration of liquid silicon into the carbon template. A large density difference between the samples has been observed. This may be due to the variation in the pore size and its distribution within the sample. Scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy shows the presence of three distinct phases, i.e., SiC, free Si and free carbon. X-ray diffraction pattern also confirms the presence of SiC and Si phases. However, there is no peak corresponding to carbon. So, it is inferred that the carbon exists in amorphous form. Micro-hardness, fracture toughness and bending strength of the ceramics were also studied. The values are lower than commercially available SiC ceramics. This may be due to the highly porous nature of cotton fabric-based SiC, as compared to commercially available SiC. 相似文献
