We present ‘Smart Scribbles’—a new scribble‐based interface for user‐guided segmentation of digital sketchy drawings. In contrast to previous approaches based on simple selection strategies, Smart Scribbles exploits richer geometric and temporal information, resulting in a more intuitive segmentation interface. We introduce a novel energy minimization formulation in which both geometric and temporal information from digital input devices is used to define stroke‐to‐stroke and scribble‐to‐stroke relationships. Although the minimization of this energy is, in general, an NP‐hard problem, we use a simple heuristic that leads to a good approximation and permits an interactive system able to produce accurate labellings even for cluttered sketchy drawings. We demonstrate the power of our technique in several practical scenarios such as sketch editing, as‐rigid‐as‐possible deformation and registration, and on‐the‐fly labelling based on pre‐classified guidelines.  相似文献

Mappings and deformations are ubiquitous in geometry processing, shape modeling, and animation. Numerous deformation energies have been proposed to tackle problems like mesh parameterization and volumetric deformations. We present an algorithm that modifies any deformation energy to guarantee a locally injective mapping, i.e., without inverted elements. Our formulation can be used to compute continuous planar or volumetric piecewise‐linear maps and it uses a barrier term to prevent inverted elements. Differently from previous methods, we carefully design both the barrier term and the associated numerical techniques to be able to provide immediate feedback to the user, enabling interactive manipulation of inversion‐free mappings. Stress tests show that our method robustly handles extreme deformations where previous techniques converge very slowly or even fail. We demonstrate that enforcing local injectivity increases fidelity of the results in applications such as shape deformation and parameterization.  相似文献

45 km of single-mode fibre of differing detailed design has been loose-tube packaged under identical conditions. The spectral loss between 1.1 and 1.75 ?m was measured before and after packaging. In the context of real‐time, GPU‐based rendering of animated skinned meshes, we propose a new algorithm to compute surface normals with minimal overhead both in terms of the memory footprint and the required per‐vertex operations. By accounting for the variation of the skinning weights over the surface, we achieve a higher visual quality compared to the standard approximation ubiquitously used in video‐game engines and other real‐time applications. Our method supports Linear Blend Skinning and Dual Quaternion Skinning. We demonstrate the advantages of our technique on a variety of datasets and provide a complete open‐source implementation, including GLSL shaders.  相似文献

Engagement of the antigen receptor on WEHI 231 murine B lymphoma cells leads to growth arrest and induction of apoptosis. Concomitant signaling through CD40 sustains proliferation and rescues the cells from apoptosis. At the molecular level, CD40 has been shown to activate nuclear factor kappaB (NF-kappaB) and stress-activated protein kinase (SAPK). The aim of our present study was to define the stretch of the CD40 cytoplasmic tail responsible for mediating these effects in WEHI 231 cells. Using recombinant retroviruses with the enhanced green fluorescent protein as selection marker we transduced WEHI 231 cells with chimeric molecules consisting of the extracellular and transmembrane region of human CD40 or rat CD4 and selected portions of the murine CD40 tail. Chimeric molecules with cytoplasmic fragments encompassing the "CD40 tumor necrosis factor-associated factor family member interacting motif" (TIM) were able to sustain growth and to uphold NF-kappaB activity as efficiently as the whole intracellular region of CD40. While the potential of the motif relative to the whole cytoplasmic tail was independent of the heterologous part of the chimeras it was strongly influenced by its distance to the membrane. Placing the 17-amino acid stretch of the motif too close to the membrane, i. e. only two or four amino acids apart, destroyed its capacity to mitigate the anti-IgM effect. Activation of SAPK through the chimeric molecules always correlated with their ability to activate NF-kappaB activity and to rescue the cells from apoptosis induced by antigen receptor ligation. Our data indicate that CD40-TIM carries most if not all of the information needed to deliver the signals responsible for sustaining growth in anti-IgM-stimulated WEHI 231 cells.  相似文献

Contents The measurement of the contact potential difference with the so-called Kelvin probe or vibrating capacitor technique is one of the most sensitive measuring procedures in surface physics. This article describes the influence of the shape of the Kelvin probe on the measured current. Two models are investigated: The most simple one, a parallel plate-capacitor and a more realistic one, a sphereplate capacitor.

Übersicht Die Messung der Kontaktpotential-Differenz mit Hilfe der Kelvin-Sonde oder der Methode des schwingenden Kondensators ist eine der empfindlichsten Meßmethoden in der Oberflächenphysik. In diesem Artikel wird der Einfluß der Form der Kelvin-Sonde auf den gemessenen Strom dargestellt. Zwei Modelle werden untersucht: Ein sehr einfaches, der parallele Platenkondensator, und ein etwas praxisnäheres, die Kapazität zwischen einer Kugel und einer Platte.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the relationship between ethnicity and Health Care wishes, including Advance Directives, in a group of frail older persons in PACE (Program For All Inclusive Care Of The Elderly). DESIGN: Retrospective chart review of 1193 participants in the PACE program. SETTING: Program of All Inclusive Care Of The Elderly (PACE), a comprehensive managed care demonstration program serving frail older participants at 10 sites across the nation. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 1193 older adults, all of whom met state criteria for nursing home level of care. There were 385 non-Hispanic whites, 364 blacks, 156 Hispanics, and 288 Asians. MEASUREMENTS: Presence or absence of advance directives, type of health care wishes selected including living will, durable power of attorney, and health care proxy. RESULTS: Frail older white, black, Hispanic and Asian Americans differ significantly in their health care wishes and how they choose to express them. Blacks were significantly more likely to select aggressive interventions and less likely than non-Hispanic whites and Hispanics to utilize a written instrument for expressing health care wishes. Whites were significantly more likely to utilize written documents for advance directives, whereas Asians were more likely to select less aggressive interventions but were unlikely to use written advance directives. CONCLUSIONS: In this population, we found significant ethnic variations in choice of health care wishes. Although health care wishes are an individual decision, an awareness of cross cultural patterns can assist practitioners in addressing the concerns of their patients, as well as assisting Health Care Policy Development.  相似文献

Industry is using fluorinated polymer processing additives (PPA) to delay the onset of sharkskin to higher rates of extrusion of PE resins. Yet it is necessary to keep elevated temperatures during extrusion to reduce apparent melt viscosity. We propose to use low viscous PPA made from reacting mixtures of polyethylene glycol with organic polyacids, phosphoric acid, and polyesters of oxiacids of Phosphorus. Surprisingly, extrusion pressures and apparent viscosity with the novel PPA at reduced temperatures are less, than at elevated temperatures. In total, extrusion pressures can be reduced 2–5 times for concentrations of PPA from 0.1 to 0.5 wt%, while sharkskin melt fracture can be eliminated for concentrations of PPA above 0.02 wt%. Extrusion with the novel PPA at reduced temperatures potentially increases productivity, reduces production cost, and allows processing of PE resins ofhigher MW and highly filled polymer composites. This paper reports an experimental investigation into the heat transfer response of plastic microcapillary films (MCFs). The first section presents experimental determination of temperature profiles and heat transfer coefficients for an MCF-based micro-heat exchanger. The next section presents two case studies: the first concerns cooling an electrical load, whereas the second examines heat transfer from an exothermic chemical reaction occurring within the MCF. The results demonstrate that heat transfer transients within MCF heat exchange devices are rapid. These systems provide an effective means of either heating or cooling fluids flowing within an MCF, or for removing heat from a hot surface.  相似文献
