The rate of filtration and the water content of cake are influenced by the existence of a dense skin in a highly compressible cake. The phenomenon of the dense skin has been rarely studied, and its existence has not been verified experimentally. In this study, the porosity variation in a very compressible cake is measured by using a new experimental apparatus, and with this the existence of dense skin has been established experimentally. ‘Unified theory on solid-liquid separation’, a recently developed theory, is utilized for calculating the porosity variation in a very compressible cake.  相似文献

The standard upper bound on discrete entropy was derived based on the differential entropy bound for continuous random variables. A tighter discrete entropy bound is derived using the transformation formula of Jacobi theta function. The new bound is applicable only when the probability mass function of the discrete random variable satisfies certain conditions. Optimal drug therapy for patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is well described in the medical literature. However, data on the actual pharmacologic management of patients surviving AMI at academic hospitals is unavailable. The purpose of this study was to document treatment profiles in 500 patients surviving AMI at 12 academic hospitals in the United States. These profiles were compared with established guidelines and were evaluated for trends. Overall, thrombolytics (streptokinase > or = tissue-type plasminogen activator) were administered in 29% of the patients, with a greater proportion of patients receiving beta-blockers than calcium channel antagonists in the initial 72 hours (61% vs 40%; p < 0.005) and at discharge (51% vs 35%; p < 0.005). Further, women were less likely than men to receive thrombolytic therapy (odds ratio [OR] = 0.61; confidence interval [CI], 0.54 to 0.69) or beta-blocker therapy within the first 72 hours (OR = 0.61; CI, 0.55 to 0.67) or at hospital discharge (OR = 0.53; CI, 0.48 to 0.58). Overall, improvements could still be made in the number of patients who receive thrombolytic and acute and chronic beta-blocker therapies after AMI, particularly in women. Changes in treatment profiles may be a reflection of the publication of large clinical trials.  相似文献

Dense Al2O3 particle-Y-TZP matrix (Al2O3<40 vol%) composite was prepared by pressureless sintering at 1550°C. Composites with 10–30 vol% Al2O3 particles showed enhanced fracture toughness, bending strength and Vicker's hardness as compared to single-phase Y-TZP. The highest strength (1150 MPa) and highest toughness (12.4 MPa m1/2) were obtained for the composite containing 10 vol% Al2O3. It was found that, in addition to the contribution by the crack-deflection effect, the enhanced phase transformation from tetragonal to monoclinic during fracture was the main toughening mechanism in operation in the composites.  相似文献

This paper addresses the problem of designing robust tracking control for a class of uncertain wheeled mobile robots actuated by brushed direct current motors. This class of electrically‐driven mechanical systems consists of the robot kinematics, the robot dynamics, and the wheel actuator dynamics. Via the backstepping technique, an intelligent robust tracking control scheme that integrates a kinematic controller and an adaptive neural network‐based (or fuzzy‐based) controller is developed such that all of the states and signals of the closed‐loop system are bounded and the tracking error can be made as small as possible. Two adaptive approximation systems are constructed to learn the behaviors of unknown mechanical and electrical dynamics. The effects of both the approximation errors and the unmodeled time‐varying perturbations in the input and virtual‐input weighting matrices are counteracted by suitably tuning the control gains. Consequently, the robust control scheme developed here can be employed to handle a broader class of electrically‐driven wheeled mobile robots in the presence of high‐degree time‐varying uncertainties. Finally, a simulation example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed control scheme.  相似文献

This paper presents an indirect adaptive controller combined with hysteresis compensation to achieve high accuracy positioning control of piezoceramic actuators and illustrates the results with an atomic force microscope (AFM) application. A dynamic model of a piezoceramic actuator system in AFM is derived and analyzed. A feedforward controller based on the Preisach model is proposed to compensate for the nonlinear hysteresis effects. Then an indirect adaptive controller is designed to achieve desired tracking performance as well as deal with the uncompensated nonlinearity from hysteresis and the system parameter variation due to creep. Experimental results indicate that the proposed controller can significantly improve the positioning control accuracy of the piezoceramic actuator as well as achieve high image quality of the AFM system. The maximum scanning error was reduced from 2µm to 0.3µm in comparison with a proportional‐integral‐derivative (PID) controller. This paper presents a method for designing a controller that uses an active anti-roll bar (AARB) and an electronic stability program (ESP) for rollover prevention. ESP with longitudinal speed control (LSC) can carry out active braking to reduce vehicle speed and lateral acceleration to prevent a rollover. To enhance the rollover prevention capability of the ESP, an AARB is adopted. The controller for the AARB was designed based on linear quadratic (LQ) static output feedback (SOF) control methodology, which attenuates the effect of lateral acceleration on the roll angle and roll rate by control of the suspension stroke and the tire deflection of the vehicle. Although this AARB significantly increases ride comfort and rollover prevention, it has a drawback — the vehicle loses its maneuverability. Therefore, the ESP with LSC is used to overcome this drawback. Simulations showed that the proposed method was effective in preventing a rollover.  相似文献

Hydraulic concrete structures frequently experience long-term abrasive erosion by water-borne sand, resulting in surface damage and eventually limiting their service life. In this study, the investigation of abrasion erosion tests on concrete with various water to cementitious material ratios (w/cm) was performed. The effects of the constituent materials on concrete structure abrasion erosion resistance were studied. The test results show that: (1) reduction in the w/cm ratio increases the tested concrete abrasion resistance; (2) the splitting tensile strength is a viable indicator for concrete abrasion resistance; (3) high permeability concrete exhibits weak abrasion resistance; and (4) concrete and low strength concrete made with coarser aggregate exhibit greater abrasion resistance.  相似文献
