Dynamic axial crushing of circular tubes

A series of axial crushing tests on steel circular cylindrical shells loaded either statically or dynamically is reported and compared with various theoretical predictions and empirical relations. A modified version of Alexander's theoretical analysis for axisymmetric, or concertina, deformations gives good agreement with the experimental results when the effective crushing distance is considered and provided that the influence of material strain rate sensitivity is retained in the dynamic crushing case.     

On the formation of double zones of necking during hot tensile tests

The phenomenon of double necking during hot tensile tests is discussed in this work. The investigation was carried out on high-carbon steel using a tensile testing machine equipped with an integral heating system. Tensile tests were performed in a large temperature range to obtain the mechanical characteristic of the material. Microstructure evolution was observed by light microscopy and hardness measurements to determine the position of double zones of necking. A significant increase in flow stress of as-transformed austenite was found to be at the origin of the double necking behaviour.     

Thallium in soils and stream sediments of a Zn-Pb mining and smelting area

Thallium was determined in 120 samples of soil and 30 samples of stream sediments from the southeastern part of the Silesian-Cracowian zinc-lead ore deposits. Soil samples were taken from topsoils (0.0-0.2 m) and bottom soils (0.8 and 1.0 m). Thallium was determined by flow-injection-differential-pulse anodic stripping voltammetry. The samples were decomposed sequentially with 73% hydrofluoric acid and a mixture of nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide. The results showed that zinc-lead ore mining as well as their processing and smelting leads to a significant increase of thallium in the top layer of soil and in stream sediments. The highest recorded concentration was 150 ppm Tl for stream sediment and 35 ppm for a soil sample. Thallium concentration in small rivers from the investigated area was by 2 orders of magnitude higher than in the reference area. The highest recorded concentration being 3.24 microg L(-1).

Beschreibung der Abhängigkeit der Aktivitätskoeffizienten Ig f_O vom Gehalt an Legierungselement durch Gleichungen 1. oder 2. Grades.     

Die Aktivität des Sauerstoffs in phosphorhaltigen Kupfer- und Nickelschmelzen

Beschreibung der Abhängigkeit des Aktivitätskoeffizienten des Sauerstoffs vom Phosphorgehalt der Metallschmelzen durch Polynome vierten Grades am Beispiel von Kupferschmelzen bei 1 150 und 1600 °C. Angabe der Sauerstoffpartialdrücke in phosphorhaltigen Kupferschmelzen. Darstellung des Einflusses des Phosphors auf die Sauerstoffaktivität in Nickelschmelzen.

Aluminium nitride probes for application in iron melts

Gleichgewichte von Chrom und Mangan mit Sauerstoff in Eisenschmelzen bei 1600 °C

Erprobung einer Doppelelektrolytzelle aus ZrO₂(CaO) mit ThO₂(Y₂O₃)-Beschichtung zur Messung geringer Sauerstoffaktivitäten a_o zwischen 10^?6 und 10^?2 in desoxidierten Eisenschmelzen. Untersuchung der Gleichgewichte Fe-O-Cr und Fe-O-Mn bei 1600 °C durch EMK-Messung sowie Probenahme und chemische Analyse. Ermittlung der Sauerstoffaktivitäten in Abhängigkeit vom Gehalt an Chrom oder Mangan in der Schmelze sowie der Gleichgewichtskonstanten und Wirkungsparameter. Vergleich der analytisch bestimmten und thermodynamisch berechneten Sauerstoffgehalte der Schmelzen.     

Elektrochemische und elektrische Untersuchungen im System Eisen—Phosphor—Sauerstoff—Kalk

Elektrochemische Untersuchung des Lösungsverhaltens von Phosphor in Eisen-Phosphor-Schmelzen bei 1650 °C und Phosphorgehalten von 0,06 bis 20%. EMK-Messungen an galvanischen Konzentrations- und Bildungsketten unter Verwendung fester und schmelzflüssiger Kalziumphosphat-Elektrolyte. Berechnung der Aktivitäten des Phosphors in Eisen-Phosphor-Schmelzen und der Freien Enthalpien der Phosphorreaktion aus den Meßergebnissen der beschriebenen Ketten.
