Analysis and comparison of two-dimensional permanent-magnet arrays for planar motor

This paper investigates three kinds of permanent-magnet arrays used in planar motors with polarity centers distributed in the lattices of a matrix. The magnetic field of every kind of magnet array is analyzed by analytical methods. First, we give a Laplace equation of magnetic scalar potential and a series of boundary conditions. Then, we derive the analytical expressions of magnet field strength and magnet flux density in the air gap of each kind of magnet array by the method of separation of variables. Finally, we compare the three types of magnet arrays on the basis of the analytical solutions.     

Synthesis and Composition of Compounds Containing the B10H- 11 Anion

The compounds MB₁₀H₁₁ (M = Me₄N⁺, Et₄N⁺, Bu₄N⁺, Ph₄P⁺, Ph₄As⁺) are synthesized. A procedure is proposed for boron determination by atomic absorption spectrophotometry, using microwave processing for sample preparation.     

Nonadditivity of Properties and the Possibility of Formation of Ensembles of Incommensurate Structures in the GaSe–Ga2Se3 System

The GaSe–Ga₂Se₃ system is studied by x-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry. The results demonstrate that the nonadditivity of heat capacity observed near the eutectic composition after quenching is similar to the nonadditivity of properties in misfit layer compounds, which contain incommensurate structural components. The origin of this similarity is discussed in terms of the self-organization of interacting incommensurate elements in the melt and the formation of unstable suprastructural ensembles.     

Electrical characterization of homoepitaxial diamond p–n junction

Electrical properties of homoepitaxial diamond p–n⁺ junction of boron (B)-doped p-type layer and phosphorus-doped n-type layer on Ib (111) diamond single crystal have been characterized. Current–voltage characteristics show a clear rectifying property with rectification ratio of over 10⁵ at ± 10 V. From capacitance–voltage characteristics, it is found that a spatial distribution of space-charge density N_i of the p–n⁺ junction is not uniform and N_i at a middle region of the space-charge layer formed at zero bias voltage is higher than that of other region of the space-charge layer. This peculiar characteristic can be explained by superposition of two effects; one is the deep dopant effect due to B atoms in the p-type layer, which makes to reduce N_i at around the edge of the space-charge layer formed at zero bias voltage. The other is the compensation of B acceptors by impurity atoms diffusing during the p–n⁺ interface and incorporating during the growth of p-type layer, which makes to reduce N_i at the vicinity of the p–n⁺ interface.     

Heterogeneous structure of cis-isoprene rubber and oligodiene diisocyanate blends

The structural peculiarities of cis-1,4-isoprene rubber, oligodiene diisocyanate, and derivative of phenol–formaldehyde resin blends have been studied by WAXS and SAXS methods and electron microscopy. It has been demonstrated that the addition of modifiers and further thermal treatment under conventional curing conditions change considerably the microheterogeneous structure and morphology and contribute to the improvement of the short-range order in the rubber matrix.     

Fast algorithms for determining the linear complexity of sequences over GF(p/sup m/) with period 2/sup t/n

We prove a result which reduces the computation of the linear complexity of a sequence over GF(p^m) (p is an odd prime) with period 2n (n is a positive integer such that there exists an element bisinGF(p^m), bⁿ=-1) to the computation of the linear complexities of two sequences with period n. By combining with some known algorithms such as the Berlekamp-Massey algorithm and the Games-Chan algorithm we can determine the linear complexity of any sequence over GF(p^m) with period 2^tn (such that 2 ^t|p^m-1 and gcd(n,p^m-1)=1) more efficiently     

Connecting the second exhaust-heat boiler to the operating first one under the conditions of flow circuits of combined-cycle plants with two gas-turbine units and one steam turbine

Problems arising with connecting the second exhaust-heat boiler to the first exhaust-heat boiler under load in the case of flow circuits of combined-cycle plants of type PGU-450 are considered. Similar problems exist for two-boiler single-turbine units of type PGU-325 and for two-boiler single-turbine units of traditional steampower plants with an output of 200–300 MW upon connection of the second furnace of a two-furnace boiler to the operating first furnace. Analysis of the temperature-induced stressed state and of the cyclic strength of thick-walled elements of the steam-water conduit of PGU-450 and of two-furnace boilers of two-boiler single-turbine units with an output of 200–300 MW (the check valve, the inlet header of the water economizer) is used for determining the steam temperature differences in the high-pressure conduits to the steam turbine and the order of connection of the second exhaust-heat boiler to the operating fist one. Modes of enabling a two-boiler single-turbine unit of a combined-cycle plant, which are most “rigid” from the standpoint of thermal strength, are determined. __________ Translated from élektricheskie Stantsii, No. 2, February 2006, pp. 11–17.
