The current scanning near-field optical microscopy has been developed with optical-fiber probes obtained by use of either laser-heated pulling or chemical etching. For high-resolution near-field imaging, the detected signal is rapidly attenuated as the aperture size of the probe decreases. It is thus important to fabricate probes optimized for both spot size and optical transmission. We present a two-step fabrication that allowed us to achieve an improved performance of the optical-fiber probes. Initially, a CO(2) laser-heated pulling was used to produce a parabolic transitional taper ending with a top thin filament. Then, a rapid chemical etching with 50% buffered hydrofluoric acid was used to remove the thin filament and to result in a final conical tip on the top of the parabolic transitional taper. Systematically, we obtained optical-fiber nanoprobes with the apex size as small as 10 nm and the final cone angle varying from 15 degrees to 80 degrees . It was found that the optical transmission efficiency increases rapidly as the taper angle increases from 15 degrees to 50 degrees , but a further increase in the taper angle gives rise to important broadening of the spot size. Finally, the fabricated nanoprobes were used in photon-scanning tunneling microscopy, which allowed observation of etched double lines and grating structures with periods as small as 200 nm. 相似文献

Periodically poled flux-grown KTiOPO(4) was used for efficient extracavity 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser frequency doubling. A conversion efficiency exceeding 65% was obtained in Q-switched operation, and 1.34 W of average frequency-doubled power was generated with 2.2 W of mode-locked laser output. The conversion efficiency is approximately two times higher for periodically poled KTP than for conventional type II phase-matched KTP. A pyrolysis gas chromatography (Py-GC) method has been developed to study the composition and microstructure of styrene/methyl methacrylate (STY/MMA) copolymers. The composition was quantified by Py-GC using monomer peak intensity. Because of the poor stability of methyl methacrylate oligomers, neither MMA dimer nor MMA trimers were detected under normal pyrolysis conditions. The number-average sequence length for STY was determined by pure and hybrid trimer peak intensities. The number-average sequence length for MMA was determined by using formulas that incorporate composition and the number-average sequence length of STY. This method is a new approach for the investigation of the microstructure of those copolymers that do not produce dimer and trimer peaks upon pyrolysis. 相似文献

Both three-layer (TiO(2)-Ag-TiO(2)) and five-layer (TiO(2)-Ag-TiO(2)-Ag-TiO(2)) heat mirrors with optimum transmission in the visible and good reflectance in the IR have been designed by admittance diagram techniques. The mirrors were fabricated successfully by optical monitoring. The interactions between In-Sn solders and an electroless Ni-P deposit within the multilayer combinations comprised of In-Sn/electroless Ni-P/Al were investigated with the aid of heat treatments at various temperatures and durations. The main reaction product was identified with X-ray diffractometry (XRD) as In3Ni2 regardless of the In-contents of the In-Sn solders. The formation of this In3Ni2 compound occurred through the diffusion of Ni towards the In-Sn solder. The intermetallic compound layer achieved its maximum thickness within 100 h upon heat treatment at 60 C; the thickness of the compound layer did not increase upon extending heat treatment. An experiment on fitness of one-piece casting osseointegrated implant frameworks was performed among three fixture abument positions where other conditions were controlled. The result revealed that there was statistically significant differences in dimensional change among the three fixture abument positions. In terms of the relation between abument position and fitness, the more backward the abument position was, the worse the osseointegrated framework fitness was.
