The influence of ionic sites on the selectivities of ionophore-based ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) is described on the basis of a phase boundary potential model. The discussion presented here is significantly more general than previous ones. It is formulated for primary and interfering ions of any charges and it is valid for ISEs based on electrically charged or neutral ionophores. Furthermore, it also applies to membranes that contain more than one type of complex of the primary or interfering ion. It has been believed thus far that only ionic sites of the same charge sign as the primary ion improve the selectivities of ISEs based on charged ionophores. However, it is shown here that the charge sign of the ionic sites that give the highest potentiometric selectivities depends on the charge number of the primary and interfering ions and on the stoichiometry of their complexes with the ionophore. The validity of our model was confirmed experimentally with three ISEs based on different charged ionophores. ISEs based on lasalocid or 1-(N,N-dicyclohexylcarbamoyl)-2- (N,N-dioctadecylcarbamoyl)ethylphosphonic acid monomethyl ester (ETH 5639) as the ionophore responded selectively to Sr2+ or Mg2+, respectively, and discriminated well against other alkaline earth cations when their membranes contained anionic sites. These two electrodes are the first examples of ISEs based on charged ionophores for which maximum selectivities are obtained with membranes containing ionic sites with a charge sign opposite to that of the primary ion. On the other hand, the experimental F- selectivities of membranes based on oxo(5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrinato)molybdenum-(V) improved gradually when the concentration of anionic sites was increased from 0 to 75 mol%. The selectivity-modifying influence of ionic sites for these three types of ISEs can be explained by considering the different stabilities of the 1:2 ion-ionophore complexes of the primary and of the interfering ions.  相似文献

We investigated the location of elements in the goblet cells of rat conjunctiva by analyzing ion images produced by secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) and comparing them with those produced by energy dispersive X-ray analyser (EDX). Conjunctivas of normal Spraque-Dawley rats were quenched in propane prechilled liquid nitrogen. Semi-thin sections were made with a cryo-ultramicrotome, freeze-dried, carbon-coated and observed under a light microscope, SIMS and scanning electron microscope (SEM). In the element analysis by SIMS, images of positive ions were examined with an O2+ primary ion source and images of negative ions with a Ga+ ion source. The same sections were observed and analysed with SEM-EDX. Morphological features and images of elements with SIMS and EDX were compared. Na, Mg, K, and Ca were detected as positive ions and OH, CN, P, S, and Cl as negative ions with SIMS, but C, N, O, Na, Mg, P, S, Cl, K, and Ca were detected with EDX. The spatial resolution of SIMS in element location was higher than that of EDX. Many elements were clearly located in the goblet cells on ion images by SIMS. Element ion images were demonstrated more densely in goblet cells than in other parts within conjunctiva and by SIMS compared to EDX. SIMS is a useful method for the detection of elements and their locations in ocular tissues and cells.  相似文献

We have investigated an optimal annealing process in order to enhance 1.55 μm light emission from semiconducting β-FeSi2 and found that two steps annealing at 600 °C and 800 °C is effective to its enhancement. Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy and SEM observations revealed that pronounced surface segregation of Fe atoms during annealing at 600 °C caused surface precipitate of β-FeSi2. The enhancement of light emission is attributed spatial isolation of the surface β-FeSi2 (light emitting layer) from damaged and defective layers with nonradiative recombination centers.  相似文献

From a series of 176 patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), we have identified 11 patients with HLA-DR-negative AML excluding acute promyelocytic leukemia. All patients showed not (15; 17) or consistent chromosomal abnormalities. According to the French-British-American criteria, seven, three, and one patients were classified into M1, M2, and M4, respectively. Blasts from these patients were CD33+, HLA-DR-, and lymphoid-antigen-. All patients entered complete remission after induction therapy. Of these, blasts from four patients had strikingly invaginated nuclear membrane and finely granular peroxidase activity. The phenotype of the blasts was CD33+, CD34-, CD2-, and HLA-DR-. All four patients showed hyperleukocytosis on initial presentation. One patient received all-trans retinoic acid at relapse, however, the drug did not induce the differentiation of the blasts. These four patients were suspected to have acute myeloid/natural killer (NK) leukemia because of the prominent morphological feature of the blasts and the initial hyperleukocytosis, although NK cell activity of the blasts was not examined. Since HLA-DR-negative AML is heterogeneous, it is necessary for identifying acute myeloid/ NK leukemia within the disorder.  相似文献

Mechanical deformation of Pd40Ni40P20 was characterized in compression over a wide strain rate range (3.3×10−5 to 2×103 s−1) at room temperature. The compression sample fractured with a shear plane inclined 42 degree with respect to the loading axis, in contrast to 56 degree for the case of tension. This suggests the yielding of the material deviates from the classical von Mises yield criterion, but follows the Mohr-Coulomb yield criterion. Fracture stress as well as strain was found to decrease with increasing applied strain rate. The compressive stress (1.74 GPa) was also found to be higher than the tensile fracture stress at a quasi-static strain rate. Close examination of the stress–strain curves revealed that localized shear might have occurred at a compressive stress of about 1.4 GPa, much lower than the “apparent” yield stress of 1.74 GPa. However, the stress of 1.4 GPa for shear band initiation is almost the same as the fracture stress measured at a dynamic strain rate of 5×102 s−1. These results suggested that the fracture of a bulk metallic glass is sensitive to the applied loading rate.  相似文献

Intra-molecular mobility of positive charge carriers in poly(n-hexyl-[S]-2-methylbutylsilane) (PHMBS) films doped with N,N′-bis(2,5-di-tert-buthylphenyl)-3,4,9,10-perylenedicarboximide (PDI) is studied by time-resolved microwave conductivity (TRMC) measurements. PHMBS with optically active side chains has a rod-like tightly locked Si catenation with unlikely long persistence length compared with conventional dialkyl-substituted polysilanes. It was found that PDI is a suitable electron acceptor for PHMBS as it provides the high product of photo carrier generation yield ? as ~0.08% under an excitation at 355 nm. The efficient electron transfer reaction from PHMBS to PDI gives clear conductivity transients ascribed to the positive charges on the Si catenation of PHMBS by TRMC measurements. The estimated value of isotropic mobility along the tightly locked Si catenation is 0.36 cm2 V?1 s?1, suggesting the presence of mobile holes on the backbones of PHMBS.  相似文献
