A model has been proposed for the momentum eddy diffusivity induced by free stream turbulence intensity. The eddy diffusivity model is applied to a sphere situated in a uniform crossflow in the presence of free stream turbulence. Numerical solution of the governing momentum and energy equations with the proposed eddy diffusivity model yielded results for the heat/mass transfer rates. The numerical predictions of the present work are compared with experimental data and the agreement between the two is seen to be very good.  相似文献

In this study, the luminescence performance of zinc phosphate glasses containing Eu3+ ion with the chemical compositions (60–x)NH4H2PO4-20ZnO-10BaF2-10NaF–x Eu2O3 (where x = 0.2, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 mol%) has been studied. These glasses were characterized by several spectroscopic techniques at room temperature. All the glasses showed relatively broad fluorescence excitation and luminescence spectra. Luminescence spectra of these glasses exhibit characteristic emission of Eu3+ ion with an intense and most prominent red emission (614 nm), which is attributed to 5D07F2 transition. Judd-Ofelt (Ω2, Ω4) parameters have been evaluated from the luminescence intensity ratios of 5D07FJ (where J = 2 and 4) to 5D07F1 transition. Using J-O parameters and excitation spectra, the radiative parameters are calculated for different Eu3+-doped glasses. Effect of γ-irradiation at fixed dose has been studied for all the Eu3+-doped glass matrices. The lifetimes of the excited level, 5D0, have been measured experimentally through decay profiles. The colour chromaticity coordinates are calculated and represented in the chromaticity diagram for Eu3+-doped zinc phosphate glasses for all concentrations.  相似文献

The various properties and surface morphology of the carbon nanotubes (CNTs) dispersed polydimethyl siloxane (PDMS) matrix were studied to determine their usefulness in various applications. The tensile strength, Young’s modulus and electrical breakdown strength of CNT/polymer composites were 0.35 MPa, 1.2 MPa and 8.1 kV, respectively. The thermal conductivity and dielectric constant for the material having 4.28 wt% CNT were 0.225 W m?1 K?1 and 2.329, respectively. The CNT/polymer composites are promising functional composites with improved mechanical and electrical properties. The scanning electron microscope analysis of surface morphology of PDMS/CNT composite showed that the rough surface texture on nanocomposite has large surface area with circular pores. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy showed the functional groups present in polymer nanocomposite.  相似文献

Mechanism of ion transport in glasses continues to be incompletely understood. Several of the theoretical models in vogue fail to rationalize conductivity behaviour when d.c. and a.c. measurements are considered together. While they seem to involve the presence of at least two components in d.c. activation energy, experiments fail to reveal that feature. Further, only minor importance is given to the influence of structure of the glass on the ionic conductivity behaviour. In this paper, we have examined several general aspects of ion transport taking the example of ionically conducting glasses in pseudo binary, yNa2B4O7·(1?y) M a O b (with y = 0·25–0·79 and M a O b = PbO, TeO2 and Bi2O3) system of glasses which have also been recently characterized. Ion transport in them has been studied in detail. We have proposed that non-bridging oxygen (NBO) participation is crucial to the understanding of the observed conductivity behaviour. NBO–BO switching is projected as the first important step in ion transport and alkali ion jump is a subsequent event with a characteristically lower barrier which is, therefore, not observed in any study. All important observations in d.c. and a.c. transport in glasses are found consistent with this model.  相似文献

In the present communication, authors propose and analyze a system which consists of a solar still kept over the roof of a room, and a water-flowing arrangement in the roof. The performance of the system is studied under two modes of heat extraction, viz., constant flow rate, and constant collection temperature, An analytical model has been developed which provides explicit expressions for various performance parameters of the system. The model is useful in evaluating the system performance under the variation of different parameters. In order to appreciate the proposed configuration, numerical calculations are carried out corresponding to the typical climate of Delhi, India. The calculations show that the system is effective in reducing the heat flux entering the room and provides warm water in addition to the distilled water.  相似文献
