Biodiesel is a promising, bio-based, renewable, nontoxic, environment friendly, and alternative fuel for petroleum derived fuels which helps to reduce dependency on conventional fossil fuels. In this study, six novel, nonedible seed oil producing feedstock were explored for their potential for sustainable production of biodiesel. It is very important to correctly identify oil yielding plant species. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used as reliable tool for authentic identification of oil yielding seeds. Macromorphological characters of seeds were studied with light microscopy (LM). Outcomes of LM of seeds exposed distinctive variation in seed size from 16.3 to 3.2 mm in length and 12.4 to 0.9 mm in width, shape varied from oval to triangular, and color from black to light brown. Oil content of nonedible seed ranged from 25 to 30% (w/w). Free fatty acid content of seed oil varied from 0.32 to 2.5 mg KOH/g. Moreover, ultra structural study of seeds via SEM showed variation in surface sculpturing, cell arrangement, cell shape, periclinal wall shape, margins, protuberances, and anticlinal wall shape. Surface sculpturing varied from rugged, reticulate, varrucose, papillate, and striate. Periclinal wall arrangements confirmed variation from rough, wavy, raised, depressed, smooth, and elevated whereas, anticlinal walls pattern showed variation from profuse undulating, smooth, raised, grooved, deep, curved, and depressed. It was concluded that SEM could be a latent and advanced technique in unveiling hidden micromorphological characters of nonedible oil yielding seeds which delivers valuable information to researchers and indigenous people for precise and authentic identification and recognition. 相似文献

The composition of the oil and protein contents of eight Lagenaria siceraria varieties was characterized in order to evaluate their suitability as a source of edible oil and protein. The physicochemical properties and fatty acids of seed oils were determined. The oil yield ranged from 24.11 to 26.32 %. The refractive indices and relative densities of the oils fell within the narrow ranges of 1.464–1.468 and 0.857–0.907 g/cm3, respectively. The saponification value ranged from 158.48 to 179.52 mg KOH/g, unsaponifiable matter was between 0.749 and 0.937 %, and the peroxide values were lower than Codex values for vegetable oils. The principal fatty acids were linoleic (62.1–67.9 %), oleic (11.54–15.46 %), palmitic (12.13–14.03 %), and stearic (6.71–7.71 %) acids. Low linolenic acid levels were also observed (<1 %) within the range of 0.32–0.44 %. The major essential amino acids were arginine (2.04–3.77 g/100 g), leucine (1.245–1.726 g/100 g), phenylalanine (0.803–1.396 g/100 g), and lysine (0.921–1.383 g/100 g). The non‐essential amino acids were glutamic acid (2.5–4.37 g/100 g), aspartic acid (1.39–2.36 g/100 g), serine (0.69–1.19 g/100 g), glycine (0.79–1.37 g/100 g), alanine (0.72–1.37 g/100 g), and proline (0.63–1.02 g/100 g). Nine minerals (Na, Ca, Mg, K, Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn, and P) were determined with significant (p < 0.05) differences. The studied oils showed promising results and can be used in the food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries. The catalytic performance of these nanocomposites was evaluated for the selective oxidation of benzene. Silica aerogel with
1, 5, 10 and 25 wt.% of silver was prepared and characterized for their physico-chemical characteristics. The catalytic performance
of these samples was evaluated as a function of silver particle size crystallized within the aerogel matrix. The sample with
the silver concentration of 1 wt.% showed high selectivity among the tested samples. With increasing silver particle size,
the % conversion increased with a decreased selectivity, which is attributed to the particle size effect on the catalytic

Intracellular protein traffic plays an important role in the regulation of Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator (CFTR) chloride channels. Microtubule and actin-based motor proteins direct CFTR movement along trafficking pathways. As shown for other regulatory proteins such as adaptors, the involvement of protein motors in CFTR traffic is cell-type specific. The present paper discusses (a) the analysis of a wire-on-tube condenser under varying operating conditions of free convection using FEM, and (b) experimental verification of the performance of two wire-on-tube condensers in a retrofitted domestic refrigerator using refrigerant R-134a. The study is motivated by the desire to investigate if the wire-on-tube condensers used in R-12 based refrigerators could be used in a modified refrigerator using R-134a refrigerant. Experiments were conducted in a climate chamber under controlled and varying ambient temperatures and mass flow rates to determine the locations where phase change occurs and the degree of subcooling achieved. In terms of initial and final phase change point locations the predicted results agree with the experimental results to within ±10%. The analysis and the experiments also lead to the information about the adequacy of the number of tubes for complete condensation of the refrigerant vapour under given operating conditions. The methodology can be used as a design tool for the design of wire-on-tube condenser of a small refrigerator as well as the suitability of specific decommissioned condensers for use in a retrofitted refrigerator. It also indicates that R-12 based refrigerators using wire-on-tube condensers retrofitted with R-134a compressor and refrigerant deserve and warrant further studies for adoption. 相似文献

An extended element free Galerkin method (XEFGM) has been adopted for fracture analysis of functionally graded materials (FGMs). Orthotropic enrichments functions are used along with the sub-triangle technique for enhancing the Gauss quadrature accuracy near the crack, and the incompatible interaction integral method is employed to calculate the stress intensity factors. Numerical simulations have proved that XEFGM provides more accurate results by less number of nodes (DOFs) in comparison with the unenriched EFGM and other conventional methods for several FGM problems with different crack locations and loadings. The results have been compared with the reference results, showing the reliability, stability, and efficiency of present XEFGM.

In this investigation, the biological synthesis method was adopted to synthesise silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) by using the leaf extracts of Cleistanthus collinus (C. collinus). This plant has traditionally been used to remove the harmful pest from the agriculture field. Leaf extract of C. collinus was used as bioreductant on the precursor solvent of AgNO3. The synthesised AgNPs were characterised by spectroscopic method such as UV–vis spectroscopy, attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering and microscopic method by field‐emission scanning electron microscopy analysis. The AgNPs were studied for both antibacterial and antifungal activities and found to exhibit potential antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The anticancer activity of AgNPs was screened against A‐431 osteosarcoma cell line by [3‐(4, 5‐dimetheylthiazol‐2)‐2, 5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide] assay and the IC50 value was found to be 91.05 ± 1.53 μg/ml.
