The fabrication and read-write characteristics of a high-coercivity sputter-deposited maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) thin-film disk medium is discussed. By employing a low sputtering gas pressure, severe internal strain is introduced into the films. This internal strain markedly increases coercivity. Furthermore, the films are composed of fine crystallites (300-400 Å in diameter), which result in extremely low media noise. A high coercivity (1060 Oe) γ- (Fe0.954Co0.02Ti0.02Cu0.015)2O3thin-film disk medium with a thickness of 0.095 μm exhibited superior read-write characteristics (e.g., a 2493 FRPM recording density D50and a 42 dB signal-to-noise ratio). These results show that sputter-deposited maghemite films have a promising potential for use as high-density disk media.  相似文献

Void fraction measurement of a vertical (4 x 4) rod bundle has been conducted in a steam-water two phase flow, using an advanced X-ray CT scanner. A large amount of rod bundle data was obtained. It was found from the results that the cross-sectional averaged void fraction data for a rod bundle can be correlated by the Drift-Flux model and that the Zuber-Findlay correlation underestimates the data in a void fraction area of 80% or more. This is because the data range over which this correlation was developed, does not cover this experimental range. Therefore, a modified correlation was developed based on the authors' data.  相似文献

Quantitative determination of interlaminar fracture toughness that governs onset and growth of delamination is essential for engineering of composite materials and structures. This study proposes a new approach to evaluate both the initial fracture toughness and the crack growth resistance property of pure mode II delamination by tensile tests of specimens having two initial cracks, which were conceived from double-lap joints. The proposed test method achieves stable growth of mode II delamination using a fundamental testing system. This study presents the specimen configuration, the theory to evaluate the energy release rate, and experiment results. The mode II initial fracture toughness measured by the present approach agreed well with the results of conventional end-notched flexure tests. Furthermore, the crack growth resistance curves were evaluated by unloading-reloading tests of the proposed doubly end-notched tension specimens.  相似文献

A non‐gradient‐based approach for topology optimization using a genetic algorithm is proposed in this paper. The genetic algorithm used in this paper is assisted by the Kriging surrogate model to reduce computational cost required for function evaluation. To validate the non‐gradient‐based topology optimization method in flow problems, this research focuses on two single‐objective optimization problems, where the objective functions are to minimize pressure loss and to maximize heat transfer of flow channels, and one multi‐objective optimization problem, which combines earlier two single‐objective optimization problems. The shape of flow channels is represented by the level set function. The pressure loss and the heat transfer performance of the channels are evaluated by the Building‐Cube Method code, which is a Cartesian‐mesh CFD solver. The proposed method resulted in an agreement with previous study in the single‐objective problems in its topology and achieved global exploration of non‐dominated solutions in the multi‐objective problems. © 2016 The Authors International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering Published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd  相似文献

The parallel version of the sheet metal forming semi-implicit finite element code ITAS3D has been developed using the domain decomposition method and direct solution methods at both subdomain and interface levels. IBM Message Passing Library is used for data communication between tasks of the parallel code. Solutions of some sheet metal forming problems on IBM SP2 computer show that the adopted DDM algorithm with the direct solver provides acceptable parallel efficiency using a moderate number of processors. The speedup 6.7 is achieved for the problem with 20000 degrees-of-freedom on the 8-processor configuration.  相似文献

Hydrothermal corrosion of thin TiAlN and CrN PVD films (of 3μm thickness) in 100 MPa water over a temperature range of 20-950 °C is compared to the behavior of TiN films over the same T-P conditions. Corrosion resistance increases in the sequence TiN → TiAlN → CrN. A FeTiO3 (ilmenite) layer on the surface of the TiAlN film is almost chromium-free and provides protective properties up to 700 °C, whilst ülvospinel formation leads to spallation of oxide scale due to high level growth stresses. Formation of a very stable spinel scale on the surface of the CrN films provides long-term corrosion protection in 100 MPa water up to 800 °C. Nitride films on low-alloyed steel can substitute for expensive super alloy in wet air oxidation systems, with working temperatures up to 700 °C in the case of TiAlN, or 800 °C in the case of CrN coatings.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Learning from the lessons of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station incident in which a long-term station blackout occurred, we have been developing an air-cooling system that can operate without electricity for a virtually indefinite time. We developed air-cooling enhancing technologies by using heat transfer fins, turbulence-enhancing ribs and a micro-fabrication surface. To achieve further improvement of the heat transfer performance, it is important to understand the mechanism of the air-cooling enhancing technologies. In this study, we used numerical analysis to investigate the effects and the mechanism of the developed air-cooling enhancing technologies. We confirmed that the Nusselt number was increased 75% by the heat transfer fins. In the heat transfer enhancement by the turbulence- enhancing ribs, the Nusselt number was increased 43% by the turbulence-enhancing ribs. The enhancement ratio of the Nusselt number by the micro-fabrication surface can be explained by the apparent thermal conductivity. The Nusselt number was increased 4%–8% by adding the micro-fabrication to the surface of the pipe with the turbulence-enhancing ribs. For the combination of the micro-fabrication surface and the turbulence-enhancing ribs, the interaction between the better heat transport in the thermally conductive layer and the mixing effect by the large-scale vortex is the heat transfer enhancement mechanism.  相似文献

The electrical conductivity of Cr2O3-doped Y2O3-stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) has been studied as functions of composition, temperature and oxygen pressure. The specimens have been prepared by hot preoning of co precipitated oxides to yield >99.7% density. The Cr2O3 added above the solubility limit ( 0.7 mol %) precipitated as a secondary phase at the grain boundaries. The conductivity of Cr2O3-doped YSZ was almost independent of the oxygen pressure in the range 1018 to 105 Pa, indicating a dominant ionic condition. The electronic conductivity of dopant CR2O3 would be hindered by the higher ionic conductivity in thep O2 ranges studied. The conductivity and the activation energy for conduction decreased slightly with the addition of Cr2O3. These phenomena seemed to be caused by vacancy trapping or polarization at the grain boundaries with the Cr2O3 precipitates. The samples with 1 mol % Cr2O3 addred to zirconia containing various Y2O3 contents showed similar conduction behaviour to those without Cr2O3 addition; that is, the conductivity maxima are observed at around 8 mol % Y2O3 addition to zirconia, and the activation energies increased with tha Y2O3 addition.  相似文献

ZrO2 polycrystals, partially stabilized by 2 to 7 mol% Y2O3, were arc-melted and rapidly quenched using an arc-imaging furnace with a hammer-anvil unit. Some of the specimens were further annealed at 1700° C for 3 h in air. The phases and the microstructures of these ZrO2-Y2O3 polycrystals were examined through X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Special emphasis was placed upon the examination of the microstructure of the metastable tetragonal phase (t phase) which was formed by a diffusionless transformation of the high-temperature cubic phase. It was found that the t phase exhibits a twinned and mosaic structure made of alternating layers of twin-related variants. A comparison of the present experimental results with other related works has also been made.  相似文献
