Macrophage inflammatory protein-1alpha (MIP-1alpha) has previously been shown to be produced by mononuclear cells, eosinophils, and neutrophils. Its production by basophils has not been investigated. The objective of this study was to investigate the production of MIP-1alpha by basophils. Peripheral blood basophils were separated by Percoll gradient centrifugation, cultured overnight, and processed for double immunocytochemistry using Abs against MIP-1alpha and FcepsilonRIalpha (alpha subunit of IgE receptor type 1). We demonstrated that basophils expressed immunoreactive MIP-1alpha upon stimulation with anti-IgE. Less than 5% of the basophils stained for MIP-1alpha without stimulation. The secretion of MIP-1alpha by basophils was studied by ELISA. In these experiments, basophils were further enriched to 65 to 99% (median, 86%) by a negative selection method. Basophils released MIP-1alpha when stimulated by Abs against IgE and FCepsilonRIalpha as well as IL-3 and the calcium ionophore, A23187. In parallel experiments, PBMC, eosinophils, and neutrophils did not produce MIP-1alpha in response to anti-IgE, but they did so in response to A23187. No MIP-1alpha release was detected in platelet preparations. Preincubation with IL-3 (15 min or 18 h) augmented anti-IgE-included basophil MIP-1alpha production. The secretion of MIP-1alpha by basophils was detectable shortly after stimulation and gradually increased over 24 h. Since MIP-1alpha has potent inflammatory and histamine-releasing activities, its production by basophils may indicate a positive feedback mechanism for allergic inflammation.  相似文献

Polymer-based conductive-adhesive materials have become widely used in many electronic packaging interconnect applications, such as chip-on-glass, chip-on-flex, etc. Among all the conductive-adhesive materials, anisotropic conductive adhesive film (ACF) is an attractive interconnect material because of its fine pitch capability. Anisotropic conductive-adhesive film is a thermosetting, epoxy matrix impregnated with a small amount of electrically conductive particles. During component assembly, the epoxy resin is cured to provide mechanical connection, and the conducting medium provides electrical connection in the z direction. The thermal cure process is critical to develop the ultimate electrical and mechanical properties of the ACF. In this paper, the curing reaction of ACF was studied with a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) under isothermal conditions in the range of 120–180°C. An autocatalyzed kinetic model was used to describe the curing reaction. The rate constant and the reaction orders were determined and used to predict the progress of the curing reaction. A good agreement is found between the proposed kinetic model and the experimental reaction-rate data. The reaction-rate constants were correlated with the isothermal temperature by the Arrhenius equation. The glass-transition temperature also has been studied as a function of cure degree and moisture absorption.  相似文献

The electronic structure and transmission coefficients of Si nanowires are calculated in a sp/sup 3/d/sup 5/s/sup */ model. The effect of wire thickness on the bandgap, conduction valley splitting, hole band splitting, effective masses, and transmission is demonstrated. Results from the sp/sup 3/d/sup 5/s/sup */ model are compared to those from a single-band effective mass model to assess the validity of the single-band effective mass model in narrow Si nanowires. The one-dimensional Brillouin zone of a Si nanowire is direct gap. The conduction band minimum can split into a quartet of energies although often two of the energies are degenerate. Conduction band valley splitting reduces the averaged mobility mass along the axis of the wire, but quantum confinement increases the transverse mass of the conduction band edge. Quantum confinement results in a large increase in the hole masses of the two highest valence bands. A single-band model performs reasonably well at calculating the effective band edges for wires as small as 1.54-nm square. A wire-substrate interface can be viewed as a heterojunction with band offsets resulting in reflection in the transmission.  相似文献

To study the association of Helicobacter pylori with peptic ulcer and the associated histopathological changes, to characterize the isolated strains in terms of their protein profile, 83 peptic ulcer cases were studied. A high association of H pylori with peptic ulcer (duodenal ulcer 77%, gastric ulcer 75%) and gastritis (74%) was observed. Age and smoking did not have any relationship with H pylori infection. The infection was predominantly associated with the 'quiescent' form of chronic gastritis. Comparative sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of whole cell extracts of the local isolates and a reference strain from Australia showed a general homogeneity between the strains with obvious interstrain differences. However, the difference between the local isolates and the reference strain was more marked. Significant association of H. pylori with peptic ulcer along with strain variations were observed.  相似文献

Negative bias temperature instability (NBTI) has become one of the major causes for reliability degradation of nanoscale circuits. In this letter, we propose a simple analytical model to predict the delay degradation of a wide class of digital logic gate based on both worst case and activity dependent threshold voltage change under NBTI. We show that by knowing the threshold voltage degradation of a single transistor due to NBTI, one can predict the performance degradation of a circuit with a reasonable degree of accuracy. We find that digital circuits are much less sensitive (approximately 9.2% performance degradation in ten years for 70 nm technology) to NBTI degradation than previously anticipated.  相似文献

The study examines health behavior, perceptions, practices, and decision making using data from the 1995 Health and Demographic Survey conducted by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics. Knowledge about causes of diarrhea and food contamination were higher than knowledge about causes of nightblindness and worm infestation but this knowledge is inadequate. The household's economic condition and the respondent's education were found to be positively associated with disease knowledge and food contamination; the same is also true for health behavior and practices. Sub-national variation in disease knowledge and food contamination exists but did not correspond always with the health behavior and practices. Decisions regarding treatment of disease were made by the husband and wife together in two-thirds of the cases, however, it was not uniform across socio-demographic and sub-national categories.  相似文献

High spin polarization materials or spin filters are key components in spintronics, a niche subfield of electronics where carrier spins play a functional role. Carrier transmission through these materials is “spin selective,” that is, these materials are able to discriminate between “up” and “down” spins. Common spin filters include transition metal ferromagnets and their alloys, with typical spin selectivity (or, polarization) of ≈50% or less. Here carrier transport is considered in an archetypical one‐dimensional molecular hybrid in which a single wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) is wrapped around by single stranded deoxyribonucleic acid (ssDNA). By magnetoresistance measurements it is shown that this system can act as a spin filter with maximum spin polarization approaching ≈74% at low temperatures, significantly larger than transition metals under comparable conditions. Inversion asymmetric helicoidal potential of the charged ssDNA backbone induces a Rashba spin‐orbit interaction in the SWCNT channel and polarizes carrier spins. The results are consistent with recent theoretical work that predicted spin dependent conductance in ssDNA‐SWCNT hybrid. Ability to generate highly spin polarized carriers using molecular functionalization can lead to magnet‐less and contact‐less spintronic devices in the future. This can eliminate the conductivity mismatch problem and open new directions for research in organic spintronics.  相似文献

A computational investigation has been conducted to determine the effectiveness of a passive control technique ofattenuating cavity-induced pressure oscillations in a confined two-dimensional supersonic flow.The passivecontrol technique is achieved by fitting two flat plates near the front wall of a square cavity at Mach number 1.83at the cavity entrance.The results showed that the flat plates attached near the front wall of the cavity,discouraged the formation of feedback loop which is widely believed to be the reason of cavity resonance.Theresultant amount of attenuation of pressure oscillations was also dependent on the length of the fiat plate used asan oscillation suppressor.  相似文献
