Aortic valve papillary fibroelastoma. A diagnosis by transthoracic echocardiography

Cardiac papillary fibroelastomas are unusual, frond-like growths typically found on cardiac valves, diagnosed incidentally on autopsy or cardiac surgery, but rarely during life. We report a rare case of an aortic valve papillary fibroelastoma detected by transthoracic echocardiography and confirmed by histologic study.     

广东省伴生放射性矿资源利用过程辐射水平调查

为加强伴生放射性矿物资源开发利过程中放射性环境管理 ,防治放射性污染 ,对广东省几个大型伴生矿(包括稀土矿、钽铌矿和铅锌矿 )资源利用 (开采、冶炼、加工 )过程中天然放射性核素的污染现状进行了调查。调查结果表明 :稀土矿中独居石 ,天然放射性核素含量最高 ,2 3 8U、2 3 2 Th、2 2 6Ra的含量分别为 3.5 1× 1 0 4、1 .74× 1 0 5、4 .8×1 0 4Bq/kg,其冶炼废渣中核素的含量分别为 5 .1 0× 1 0 5、6 .38× 1 0 6、1 .5 2× 1 0 6Bq/kg。稀土选冶厂周围陆地环境 γ射线的空气吸收剂量率比一般地区的高。     

An anomalous acoustic effect during martensite transformations in NiTi-based alloys

Martensite transformations proceeding in mechanically loaded TiNi-based alloys account for an “anomalous” character of the acoustic emission from the material, whereby cyclic transformations during the growth of mechanical stress in the course of the direct transition is accompanied by an increase, rather than by a decrease, in the acoustic emission energy. This behavior of the acoustic emission is evidence of a significant influence of the external stresses on the martensite transformations and the related energy dissipation process.     

A Linear Cross-Coupled Control System for High-Speed Machining

We present a linear cross-coupled controller to improve highspeed contouring accuracy independently of tracking accuracy in a biaxial machine tool feed drive servomechanism. Unlike conventional cross-coupled controllers, the cross-coupled controller presented here is a linear system, so it is very easy to perform the stability and steady-state error analysis, and to optimise the controller parameters. The proposed controller is evaluated experimentally on a CNC LOM machine and compared to an uncoupled controller and a conventional cross-coupled controller. Controller performance is evaluated for a circular contour at a feedrate of 30 m min _1 . The experimental results show that the proposed controller can greatly reduce the contour error at large feedrates. The linear cross-coupled controller is simple to implement and is practical.
