In this article, we design optimal or near optimal interval routing schemes (IRS, for short) with small compactness for several classes of plane quadrangulations and triangulations (by optimality or near optimality we mean that messages are routed via shortest or almost shortest paths). We show that the subgraphs of the rectilinear grid bounded by simple circuits allow optimal IRS with at most two circular intervals per edge (2-IRS). We extend this result to all plane quadrangulations in which all inner vertices have degrees4. Namely, we establish that every such graph has an optimal IRS with at most seven linear intervals per edge (7-LIRS). This leads to a 7-LIRS with the stretch factor 2 for all plane triangulations in which all inner vertices have degrees6. All routing schemes can be implemented in linear time. 相似文献

This work presents a detailed, multiscale, spatially resolved study of the microstructure of an electron beam butt weld of the EN-AW 7020 (Al-Zn-Mg) alloy. Using a combination of optical, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and small-angle X-ray scattering, the distribution of phases in the different areas of the heat-affected zone and of the fusion zone is quantitatively characterized, for two different aging states: naturally aged after welding and artificially aged at 423 K (150 °C). The heat-affected zone consists of regions experiencing different levels of precipitate dissolution and coarsening during welding as well as new precipitation during post-welding heat treatment (PWHT). The microstructure of the fusion zone is typical from a fast solidification process, with a strong solute segregation in the interdendritic zones. The precipitate distribution after PWHT follows this solute distribution, and the resulting hardness is much lower than the relatively homogeneous value in the base metal and the heat-affected zone. 相似文献

Airborne mineral dust particles contribute a significant fraction to the total aerosol mass, thus they make a substantial contribution to the Earth's radiative budget by direct scattering and absorption of radiation. Quantifying their contribution is complicated by the variability of optical properties as a function of water uptake. To improve understanding, we directly measured the relative humidity (RH) dependence of extinction [fRHext(RH, Dry)] for three key silicate clay components (illite, kaolinite, and montmorillonite) of mineral dust aerosols through cavity ring-down spectroscopy at 532 nm. The three clays studied show significant differences in fRHext(RH, Dry) at three RH values, and reasons for this are explored. With 68% RH as an example, we used the fRHext(RH, Dry) and Mie theory to calculate a growth factor for comparison with other measurement techniques. Humidified tandem differential mobility analyzer and quartz crystal microbalance growth factors from the literature are larger than our optical measurements indicate. An apparent decrease in particle size calculated from optical measurements for illite and kaolinite was further investigated by determining the aerosol electrical mobility size distribution of 68% RH and dry clay particles at that indicated shrinkage of approximately 10% at elevated humidity. Direct optical measurement has advantages because the effects of irregular shape and internal voids are observed. Our calculated growth factors provide a lower limit and can be incorporated into climate models in conjunction with other results to reduce the uncertainty associated with the optical response to water uptake on clay aerosols. 相似文献

Hybrid films prepared from TEOS and polyoxazolines (Si–POx–Si) crosslinking agents were coated on different substrates in order to modify their surface properties. The film cohesion and adhesion on substrates were expected through the hydrogen bonding of the polyoxazoline crosslinked network. Low molecular-weight α,ω-unsaturated polyoxazolines (DA-PMOx)s were synthesized by a one step cationic ring-opening polymerization (CROP) of 2-methyl-2-oxazoline (MOx) with a good control over the molecular weight. Based on double thiol-ene coupling (d-TEC) a post-functionalization of DA-PMOx end chains gave in good yield polyoxazoline cross linker (Si–POx–Si). Glass and various polymer substrates (PP, PEI, POM, etc.) were spin coated by the organic–inorganic hybrid films through sol–gel process. AFM, SEM, visible reflectance spectroscopy and contact angle experiments allowed the full characterization of targeted surfaces and demonstrated the efficiency of the polyoxazoline coating. 相似文献

Experiments explore the reduction in permeability of a porous bead pack when a suspension of thermally responsive polymer is injected and the temperature then increased above the thermal activation temperature. The change in permeability is greater with higher polymer concentration, provided that the ionic concentration of the solution is sufficient for floc formation. The time for activation of the blocking effect is within tens of seconds to minutes of when the polymer solution is heated. This is consistent with the timescale for diffusion‐limited aggregation, although the detailed value depends on the geometry and polymer concentration. Dynamical experiments demonstrate that once the porous media is blocked, adding additional polymer has no effect. The copper‐catalyzed C(sp2) H trifluoromethylation of N,N‐disubstituted hydrazones using the Togni reagent is demonstrated to proceed efficiently for aliphatic aldehyde‐derived substrates. The success of the reactions relied on the choice of the N,N‐diphenylamino group as the terminal hydrazone amino group where N,N‐dialkylamino groups were preferred for (hetero)aromatic aldehyde‐derived substrates. In addition, the trifluoromethylated N‐arylhydrazones are shown to be ideal substrates for Fischer indole synthesis allowing a straightforward, three‐step access to 2‐trifluoromethylindole derivatives from simple aldehydes.

Robust mesoporous membranes composed of silica spheres were surface-modified with chiral selector moieties, including small molecules, macrocycles, and polymers. Diffusion rates of enantiomers of a chiral dye through the resulting asymmetrically modified colloidal membranes were measured and the corresponding permselectivities were calculated. The membranes showed enantioselectivities in the range of 1.2–1.8, which were not significantly affected by the structure of the surface-immobilized chiral electors. This selectivity is on par with most reported polymer-based solid membranes and bulk liquid membranes. The enantioselectivity results from the surface-facilitated mechanism of transport of enantiomers through the mesopores. 相似文献

Fecal indicator microbes, such as enterococci, are often used to assess potential health risks caused by pathogens at recreational beaches. Microbe levels often vary based on collection time and sampling location. The primary goal of this study was to assess how spatial and temporal variations in sample collection, which are driven by environmental parameters, impact enterococci measurements and beach management decisions. A secondary goal was to assess whether enterococci levels can be predictive of the presence of Staphylococcus aureus, a skin pathogen. Over a ten-day period, hydrometeorologic data, hydrodynamic data, bather densities, enterococci levels, and S. aureus levels including methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) were measured in both water and sand. Samples were collected hourly for both water and sediment at knee-depth, and every 6 h for water at waist-depth, supratidal sand, intertidal sand, and waterline sand. Results showed that solar radiation, tides, and rainfall events were major environmental factors that impacted enterococci levels. S. aureus levels were associated with bathing load, but did not correlate with enterococci levels or any other measured parameters. The results imply that frequencies of advisories depend heavily upon sample collection policies due to spatial and temporal variation of enterococci levels in response to environmental parameters. Thus, sampling at different times of the day and at different depths can significantly impact beach management decisions. Additionally, the lack of correlation between S. aureus and enterococci suggests that use of fecal indicators may not accurately assess risk for some pathogens. 相似文献
