Herein, a simple melt-blending method is utilized to disperse of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) in polystyrene/polyolefin elastomer (PS/POE) blends. Based on morphological studies, the PS/POE/HNT nanocomposite containing up to 3 phr HNTs shows excellent nanofiller dispersion, while those filled with 5 phr HNTs exhibit nanofiller aggregation. To overcome the nanofiller aggregation issue, the polypropylene-grafted-maleic anhydride (PP-g-MA) compatibilizer is added to the PS/POE/HNT nanocomposite, which results in improved mechanical properties for the nanocomposite sheets. Furthermore, the addition of compatibilized HNTs to the PS/POE blends leads to decreased O2 and N2 gas permeabilities. Besides, incorporating POE, HNTs, and PP-g-MA leads to a decrease in water vapor transmission of PS. In the end, the experimentally-determined mechanical properties and gas permeabilities of the nanocomposite sheets are compared to those predicted by prevalent theoretical models, revealing a good agreement between the experimental and theoretical results. Molecular-dynamics simulations are also carried out to calculate the gas diffusion coefficients in the different sheets to further support the experimental findings in this study. Overall, the PS/POE/HNT/PP-g-MA nanocomposite sheets fabricated in this work demonstrate excellent mechanical and gas barrier properties; and hence, can be used as candidate packaging materials. In this study, NiTi–x wt.% B4C (x = 0, 2, and 4) composites were consolidated with spark plasma sintering method, and the effects of boron carbide reinforcement addition on the microstructure and wear behavior of samples were investigated. Identification of the constituent phases of samples by the X-ray diffraction method plus Rietveld analysis revealed that the stability of the martensite phase increased in the composite samples because of mismatch stresses between the NiTi matrix phase and the reinforcing particles, which increases the density of the dislocations and facilitates the diffusion process that subsequently leads to the formation of stable intermetallics. The results of hardness test indicated that the hardness value increased from 3.67 GPa for pure NiTi to 10.99 GPa for NiTi–4 wt.% B4C. Results of wear test revealed that boron carbide reinforced composite specimens had higher wear resistance, whereas wear rate of NiTi sample was 3.6 × 10−3 mm3/N m, and it reached to .21 × 10−3 mm3/N m for NiTi–4 wt.% B4C. Investigation of microstructure by scanning electron microscopy images and EDS analysis revealed that the wear mechanism in NiTi samples was abrasive and the addition of B4C to NiTi changed the wear mechanisms from abrasive to a combination of oxidation, adhesive, and delamination mechanisms. 相似文献

An evolving area of research involving phenolics in foods and their products pertains to the functional, biological, and nutritional consequences resulting from the binding between certain phenolic compounds and the macronutrient and micronutrient constituents of foods. The goal of this review is to provide a summary of studies investigating endogenous phenolic interactions with major components in food systems, including carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, minerals and vitamins, with a focus on the phenolic compounds and nutrients in oil-bearing plants. Another major objective is to provide a comprehensive overview of the chemical nature of phenolic interactions with food constituents that could affect the quality, nutritional and functional properties of foods. ABSTRACTA relatively better performance of jute fiber and yarn reinforced concrete composites can open up a wide access to application of natural resources in concrete strengthening. In order to achieve this goal, an experimental investigation on the flexural, compressive and tensile strengths of Jute Fiber Reinforced Concrete Composites (JFRCC) and Jute Yarn Reinforced Concrete Composites (JYRCC) has been conducted. To draw a specific conclusion, the mix ratios of 1:1.5:3 and 1:2:4 (by volume) of concrete have been maintained with incorporation of jute fiber and yarn in concrete mortar having different cut lengths with distinct volumetric ratios. Finally, a comparison of the JFRCC and JYRCC strength increments with respect to the plain concrete has been investigated. A significant increment of compressive, flexural and tensile strength was observed only for a short cut length having a low volumetric ratio, where JYRCC increment value was always found progressive. A far more regular arrangement and adequate mixture of JYRCC was also visualized compare to JFRCC in concrete mortar. All the principal increment values were found only in case of JYRCC with a mix ratio of 1:1.5:3. So, it can be concluded that the presence of jute yarn and more cement content can strengthen the concrete to a great extent. 相似文献

Opuntia ficus indica fruits have been associated with health effects, due to their protective actions against oxidation. Nevertheless, few studies about processing of Opuntia fruits are available’; therefore, we studied the pulp characteristics and processing of a local variety, for producing beverage nectars. The pulp had an average pH of 5.64, 13.47 °Brix, with total sugars (106 g L?1), K (1180 mg L?1), 503.3 µg L?1 of β carotene, 120 mg L?1 of total phenolic compounds, 4.9 mg and 46.9 mg L?1 respectively for betacyanins and betaxanthins and 243.4 mg L?1 of vitamin C. The formulated nectars with 35% of pulp (N35) and 45% of pulp (N45) had respectively 14 and 15 °Brix. Minor components represent 1109 and 1112 mg L?1 of K for N35 and N45 respectively, β carotene (318.6 µg and 362.8 µg L?1), and vitamin C 227 and 231 mg L?1. We confirmed the stability and acceptability of these beverages after a month of storage, after stability and panel tests. Therefore, we suggest that the pulp processing can be used as a new form of agro industrial utilization of this underutilized fruit. 相似文献

The brisance parameter can be used to show the shattering power of an energetic compound and the speed to reach its peak pressure. It determines the effectiveness with which an explosive can fragment a shell. Nowadays, the sand test or sand crushing test is the preferred method for brisance measurements but there is no reliable method for the prediction of the brisance parameter. In this paper, a method for the prediction of the brisance through sand test for pure and mixed energetic materials as well as aluminized explosives is reported. It is based on the molecular structure of the desired compound and once the conclusion is established any experimental data is redundant. The calculated brisance relative to 2,4,6‐trinitrotoluene (=100) shows good agreement with the measured values. 相似文献

A reliable simple method for prediction of the standard Gibbs energy of formation (ΔfGθ) of energetic compounds containing nitroaromatic, acyclic, and cyclic nitramine, nitrate ester, and nitroaliphatic compounds is introduced herein. The method is based on the contribution of elemental composition (ΔfGelemθ) and the correcting function for the presence of additive and non‐additive molecular fragments (ΔfGcorrθ). In presence of some molecular moieties, ΔfGcorrθ may increase or decrease the value of ΔfGelemθ, depending on the intermolecular interactions. The experimental root‐mean‐square error (RMSE) of the novel correlation (22.7 kJ mol−1) is quite good. For some energetic compounds, where the computed values of two complex models of the quantitative structure‐property relationship (QSPR) theory were available, the experimental RMSE developed by the new method is smaller than the values obtained by QSPR method. 相似文献

An efficient and mild procedure for the one‐pot preparation of CL‐20 from TADB in the presence of the Brønsted acidic ionic liquid 1‐methylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate [Hmim][HSO4] as catalyst was developed. The ionic liquid was stable during the reaction process and could also be reused several times with steady activity. In order to optimize the process parameters to obtain higher yield and purity, a study was carried out with variation of the ionic liquids and some parameters like temperature, mole ratio of [Hmim][HSO4] and nitric acid. Ceramic and tile industries should indispensably include a grading stage to quantify the quality of products. Actually, human control systems are often used for grading purposes. An automatic grading system is essential to enhance the quality control and marketing of the products. Since there generally exist six different types of defects originating from various stages of tile manufacturing lines with distinct textures and morphologies, many image processing techniques have been proposed for defect detection. In this paper, a survey has been made on the pattern recognition and image processing algorithms which have been used to detect surface defects. Each method appears to be limited for detecting some subgroup of defects. The detection techniques may be divided into three main groups: statistical pattern recognition, feature vector extraction and texture/image classification. The methods such as wavelet transform, filtering, morphology and contourlet transform are more effective for pre-processing tasks. Others including statistical methods, neural networks and model-based algorithms can be applied to extract the surface defects. Although, statistical methods are often appropriate for identification of large defects such as Spots, but techniques such as wavelet processing provide an acceptable response for detection of small defects such as Pinhole. A thorough survey is made in this paper on the existing algorithms in each subgroup. Also, the evaluation parameters are discussed including supervised and unsupervised parameters.
