BACKGROUND: Coincident with the changes in agricultural practices from conventional to organic, changes in the nutrient composition of fresh fruits and vegetables have been identified. The levels of peroxidase, total phenolics content, and capsidiol activity in organic as compared with conventional sweet pepper fruit were examined in this study. In order to avoid interferences of environmental factors on the studied parameters, the sweet peppers were grown (organically and conventionally) in a greenhouse under the same soil and climate conditions. RESULTS: Peroxidase was partially purified using the Triton X‐114 method and both organic and conventional peppers had the same isoenzymatic form. However, peroxidase activity in organic sweet peppers was higher than in conventional ones, in both maturity stages studied. The level of total phenolics compunds was also higher in organic than in conventional sweet peppers. With respect to the capsidiol activity, expressed as inhibition of fungus growth, it was not affected by the cultivation method at the green mature stage. However, at the red mature stage, organic sweet peppers showed higher capsidiol activity than those grown under the conventional system. CONCLUSION: Sweet peppers grown under organic culture have a maturity‐related response, with high levels of phenolic compounds, and peroxidase and capsidiol activity that contribute to disease resistance in organic farming. This paper focusses on generation of solar irradiation map under clear sky conditions using r.sun model. Direct Irradiation, diffuse irradiation and global irradiation maps are plotted using programme which was developed in C language. This programme calculates different components of solar irradiation using clear sky model (r.sun). Further Surfer software was used to plot different irradiation maps. All three values (Direct Irradiation, Global Irradiation and Diffuse Irradiation) were compared by IMD values for performing statistical analysis i.e. Mean Bias Error (MBE), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and standard deviation. MBE was found within ±10%, RMSE lies within <20% and standard deviation was found to have very low value which indicated good fitting between model results and calculated values. A small passive mill was used to study the roll coatings developed on rolls of different materials during the hot rolling of aluminium strip. The structure and composition of the coatings were examined by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray microanalysis.Rolls of solid alumina failed during the rolling experiments, but rolls with a plasma-sprayed layer of alumina on steel remained undamaged although they showed evidence of the formation of a roll coating. Steel rolls formed no detectable coating after the 56 rolling impressions given in these experiments and a thermally produced iron oxide film on a pair of steel rolls was removed by the rolling. Small amounts of discontinuous roll coatings were found on rolls of tungsten carbide, silicon carbide and silicon nitride. The largest amount of roll coating was observed on rolls having a plasmasprayed layer of chromium oxide, and this was associated with the complex structure of the original surface of the layer. Analysis of the roll coatings showed that they contained aluminium metal.The results indicate that in the presence of a lubricant-coolant during rolling it was the mechanical interactions, rather than chemical or thermal, that influenced the formation of a roll coating. 相似文献

In secondary and scanning transmission electron microscopes, secondary electron images of surface films can be dominated by an image derived from electrons back-scattered from the interface between the film and the substrate. The extent of the domination has been established by studying the variation in image obtained using primary beams of different energy and by platinum coating to enhance surface secondary electron emission. Studies of thicker films also established that chemical or structural difference within a film also lead to imaging effects. In general, 5 keV electrons are the most effective in producing subsurface and structural or chemical imaging effects. 相似文献

This paper presents and exercises a general structure for an object‐oriented‐enriched finite element code. The programming environment provides a robust tool for extended finite element (XFEM) computations and a modular and extensible system. The programme structure has been designed to meet all natural requirements for modularity, extensibility, and robustness. To facilitate mesh–geometry interactions with hundreds of enrichment items, a mesh generator and mesh database are included. The salient features of the programme are: flexibility in the integration schemes (subtriangles, subquadrilaterals, independent near‐tip, and discontinuous quadrature rules); domain integral methods for homogeneous and bi‐material interface cracks arbitrarily oriented with respect to the mesh; geometry is described and updated by level sets, vector level sets or a standard method; standard and enriched approximations are independent; enrichment detection schemes: topological, geometrical, narrow‐band, etc.; multi‐material problem with an arbitrary number of interfaces and slip‐interfaces; non‐linear material models such as J2 plasticity with linear, isotropic and kinematic hardening. To illustrate the possible applications of our paradigm, we present 2D linear elastic fracture mechanics for hundreds of cracks with local near‐tip refinement, and crack propagation in two dimensions as well as complex 3D industrial problems. This paper proposes a design of control and estimation strategy for induction motor based on the variable structure approach. It describes a coupling of sliding mode direct torque control (DTC) with sliding mode flux and speed observer. This algorithm uses direct torque control basics and the sliding mode approach. A robust electromagnetic torque and flux controllers are designed to overcome the conventional SVM-DTC drawbacks and to ensure fast response and full reference tracking with desired dynamic behavior and low ripple level. The sliding mode controller is used to generate reference voltages in stationary frame and give them to the controlled motor after modulation by a space vector modulation (SVM) inverter. The second aim of this paper is to design a sliding mode speed/flux observer which can improve the control performances by using a sensorless algorithm to get an accurate estimation, and consequently, increase the reliability of the system and decrease the cost of using sensors. The effectiveness of the whole composed control algorithm is investigated in different robustness tests with simulation using Matlab/Simulink and verified by real time experimental implementation based on dS pace 1104 board. 相似文献

Mechanical complications of femoral catheterization for hemodialysis include pseudoaneurysm, arteriovenous fistulae, neurological injury, and vessel perforation. With regard to the latter, severe hemorrhage is a rare but devastating and potentially fatal complication. We report the case of a 76-year-old female who underwent femoral catheterization for hemodialysis using ultrasound guidance. The first hemodialysis session was conducted without incident. Unfortunately, inadvertent injury and delayed perforation of the iliac vein resulted in severe hemorrhage and retroperitoneal hematoma. Surgical repair was performed. The patient was asymptomatic after the procedure and was discharged 15 days later. Based on this case and a review of the literature, we present mechanisms and ways to prevent this complication. 相似文献
