Preparations of PbS-coated titanium dioxide (TiO2) and lead sulfide (PbS) nanoparticles under ultrasonic field at the multibubble sonoluminescence (MBSL) conditions were tested in water solutions. Under the optimal MBSL conditions (20 kHz and 220 W power input), PbS nanoparticles (diameter = 40-50 nm) were prepared by treating lead nitrate and thioacetamide for 20 min in water solutions. The size of PbS nanoparticles was found to be easily increased to about 90 nm in diameter by increasing the reactant concentration twice. A similar sonochemical reaction with TiO2 nanoparticles (about 20-30 nm in diameter) gave rise to PbS-coated TiO2 nanoparticles with a core/shell structure. The PbS thin film coating was quite uniform and the average coating depth of PbS on the TiO2 nanoparticles was about 2-3 nm under the described conditions. It is interesting to note that the coating depth was found to be controlled to 2-10 nm range by increasing the amounts of reactants for Pb and S twice with a sonication time of 30 min.  相似文献

We develop analytical and numerical conditions to determine whether limit cycle oscillations synchronize in diffusively coupled systems. We examine two classes of systems: reaction–diffusion PDEs with Neumann boundary conditions, and compartmental ODEs, where compartments are interconnected through diffusion terms with adjacent compartments. In both cases the uncoupled dynamics are governed by a nonlinear system that admits an asymptotically stable limit cycle. We provide two-time scale averaging methods for certifying stability of spatially homogeneous time-periodic trajectories in the presence of sufficiently small or large diffusion and develop methods using the structured singular value for the case of intermediate diffusion. We highlight cases where diffusion stabilizes or destabilizes such trajectories.  相似文献

We address the problem of designing a computational photographic system for panoramic imaging, which employs a rotationally symmetric reflector and yet produces uniform resolution images. Our design is a catadiotpric sensor, whose key component is a rotationally symmetric mirror. Catadioptric sensors have already been designed that are equiresolution with respect to solid angle, but such sensors do not take into account the effect of unwarping transformations that are typically applied to the initially recorded images. The family of catadioptric sensors that we describe may be considered as realizing area preserving/scaling cylindrical projections. We present the derivations of the equations that describe such sensors and demonstrate in simulation their properties with respect to unwarping.  相似文献

Perovskite structured La2Ti2O7 catalyst prepared by polymerized complex method was characterized and examined the photocatalytic activity by decomposing an azo dyestuff, Reactive Red 22, in aqueous solutions under UV irradiation. La2Ti2O7 powders prepared by polymerized complex method exhibit higher surface areas, better homogeneity and are more sensitive to solution than those prepared by solid-state method. The first derivatives of UV–vis DRS patterns confirmed the complete crystallization of La2Ti2O7 sintered at temperatures higher than 900 °C. The effects of sintering temperature of catalyst and solution pH of photocatalytic reaction were studied. The photocatalytic decomposition of Reactive Red 22 per unit surface area was found to be higher for experiments using La2Ti2O7 than using TiO2. However, the electron–hole recombination was found to be more obvious for La2Ti2O7 than for TiO2 because the network of metal cations constructed within La2Ti2O7 enhances the mobility of photogenerated electrons and holes.  相似文献

This research examines the possibility that people's choices in the service of an explicit focal goal may also reflect their tendency to fulfill implicit background goals and in that sense are multifinal. We carried out 5 experimental studies to investigate this notion. In Experiment 1, a primed implicit goal affected individuals' choices even when those avowedly served an explicit “focal” goal. Experiment 2 replicated this finding with a different type of implicit goals. Experiment 3 found that primed implicit goals had no effect on choices where the options that served them undermined the explicit goal. Experiment 4 found that a primed implicit goal served by a multifinal option does not privilege it over a unifinal option if that goal had been already attained by a different means. Finally, Experiment 5, via 3 types of control groups, showed that choices were affected by both the explicit and implicit goals in isolation, and they shifted toward multifinality when these goals were conjointly present. The discussion considers the integrative potential of the multifinality framework and its implications for a variety of phenomena in the domain of motivated cognition. Low impact development (LID) strategies are being encouraged in many communities as an approach to reduce potential adverse impacts of development on receiving streams. Many questions exist regarding how well various LID strategies perform in different settings, just as similar questions have been raised regarding performance of traditional stormwater best management practices (BMPs). Whereas historical focus on BMP performance has been water quality concentrations or loads, characterization of volume reduction benefits for both conventional and LID practices is increasingly an objective of researchers and stormwater managers. More than a decade ago, Urban Water Resources Research Council (UWRRC) members worked to develop a set of standardized monitoring and reporting protocols for traditional BMPs and to establish a master database for the purpose of evaluating BMP performance and the factors affecting performance. This effort culminated in the International Stormwater BMP Database (www.bmpdatabase.org), which contains data for more than 360 BMPs and continues to operate as a clearinghouse for stormwater BMP data and performance analyses. During 2008–2009, the International Stormwater BMP Database project expanded to better integrate LID into the database and develop a set of metrics that can be used to characterize BMP performance with regard to surface runoff volume reduction. This paper provides a condensed overview and progress report on the LID-focused effort, including the following topics: (1)?monitoring guidance for LID at the overall site development level, (2)?an overview of recent changes to the International Stormwater BMP Database to better accommodate LID studies, (3)?a summary of LID studies currently included in the database, and (4)?a proposed approach for evaluating performance of LID studies with regard to reducing surface runoff volumes.  相似文献

Typically developing children understand and predict others' behavior by extracting and processing relevant information such as the logic of their actions within the situational constraints and the intentions conveyed by their gaze direction and emotional expressions. Children with autism have difficulties understanding and predicting others' actions. With the use of eye tracking and behavioral measures, we investigated action understanding mechanisms used by 18 children with autism and a well-matched group of 18 typically developing children. Results showed that children with autism (a) consider situational constraints in order to understand the logic of an agent's action and (b) show typical usage of the agent's emotional expressions to infer his or her intentions. We found (c) subtle atypicalities in the way children with autism respond to an agent's direct gaze and (d) marked impairments in their ability to attend to and interpret referential cues such as a head turn for understanding an agent's intentions.
