Image registration for image-based rendering.   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Image-based rendering (IBR) has received much attention in recent years for its ability to synthesize photo-realistic novel views. To support translational motion, existing IBR methods either require a large amount of reference images or assume that some geometric information is available. However, rendering with a large amount of images is very expensive in terms of image acquisition, data storage, and memory costs. As IBR accepts various kinds of geometric proxy, we may use image registration techniques, such as stereo matching and structure and motion recognition, to obtain geometric information to help reduce the number of images required. Unfortunately, existing image registration techniques only support a small search range and require closely sampled reference images. This results in a high spatial sampling rate, making IBR impractical for use in scalable walkthrough environments.Our primary objective of this project is to develop an image registration technique that would recover the geometric proxy for IBR while, at the same time, reducing the number of reference images required. In this paper, we analyze the roles and requirements of an image registration technique for reducing the spatial sampling rate. Based on these requirements, we present a novel image registration technique to automatically recover the geometric proxy from reference images. With the distinguishing feature of supporting a large search range, the new method can accurately identify correspondences even though the reference images may only be sparsely sampled. This can significantly reduce the acquisition effort, the model size, and the memory cost.  相似文献

Previous research on schizophrenia suggests that context-processing disturbances are one of the core cognitive deficits present in schizophrenia. However, it is not clear whether such deficits are specific to schizophrenia as compared with other psychotic disorders. To address this question, the authors administered a version of the AX Continuous Performance Test designed to assess context processing in a sample of healthy controls, patients with schizophrenia, and patients with other psychotic disorders. Participants were tested at index (when medication naive and experiencing their first contact with psychiatric services) and 4 weeks later, following medication treatment. At index, patients with schizophrenia and the psychotic comparison group demonstrated similar impairments in context processing. However, context-processing deficits improved in the psychotic comparison group at 4 weeks but did not improve in patients with schizophrenia. Heparin-binding epidermal growth factor-like growth factor (HB-EGF) is a potent fibroblast and epithelial cell mitogen that may be important in wound healing. The aim of this study was to determine its distribution and possible function in segmental renal infarction. At day 1 postinfarction, in situ hybridization showed that HB-EGF mRNA was markedly increased by tubular epithelial cells bordering the infarcted zone. At day 3, typical myofibroblasts expressing alpha-smooth muscle actin (alpha-SMA) were present in large numbers at the peri-ischemic border and, over succeeding days, were also seen within the infarcted area. Some of these cells expressed HB-EGF mRNA by in situ hybridization suggesting possible autocrine stimulation. Endothelial cells appeared to be more resistant to ischemia than tubules because some capillaries at the periphery of the infarct, surrounded by infarcted tubules, also expressed HB-EGF mRNA. The staining intensity of HB-EGF mRNA in individual tubules and endothelial cells was maximal at day 5 after infarction, although Northern blots of tissue from the peri-infarct area only showed significantly increased expression of HB-EGF mRNA at days 1 and 3, perhaps reflecting a smaller area of greater intensity of expression at day 5. Because tubular cells expressing high levels of HB-EGF mRNA were directly apposed to myofibroblasts, an attempt was made to determine whether HB-EGF contributed to upregulation of alpha-SMA by human fibroblasts. Although stimulation of the fibroblast cell line MRC-5 with transforming growth factor-beta1 (TGF-beta1) increased alpha-SMA, HB-EGF reduced expression. HB-EGF also strongly inhibited the increased expression of alpha-SMA due to TGF-beta1. Because HB-EGF is a potent fibroblast mitogen and TGF-beta is usually antiproliferative, this study suggests that HB-EGF may contribute to a local balance between fibroblast proliferation and differentiation into myofibroblasts during scarring.  相似文献

Spherical aberration (C(s)) correction in the transmission electron microscope has enabled sub-angstrom resolution imaging of inorganic materials. To achieve similar resolution for radiation-sensitive organic materials requires the microscope to be operated under hybrid conditions: low electron dose illumination of the specimen at liquid nitrogen temperature and low defocus values. Initial images from standard inorganic and organic test specimens have indicated that under these conditions C(s)-correction can provide a significant improvement in resolution (to less than 0.16nm) for direct imaging of organic samples.  相似文献

We report the characterization of the complex oxide Nb16W18O94 using high angle annular dark field imaging at 200 kV in a scanning transmission electron microscope. The results of this study suggest that the W and Nb cations are not uniformly distributed among the cation columns projected along [001] but that there is preferential segregation of the heavier species to certain column sites. In order to analyse the experimental data obtained, an image processing methodology has been developed which may also find application in locating specific motifs within a generally distorted image field.  相似文献

With the dramatic increase in the number of new chemical entities (NCEs) arising from combinatorial chemistry and modern high-throughput bioassays, novel bioanalytical techniques are required for the rapid determination of the metabolic stability and metabolites of these NCEs. Knowledge of the metabolic site(s) of the NCEs in early drug discovery is essential for selecting compounds with favorable pharmacokinetic credentials and aiding medicinal chemists in modifying metabolic "soft spots". In development, elucidation of biotransformation pathways of a drug candidate by identifying its circulatory and excretory metabolites is vitally important to understand its physiological effects. Mass spectrometry (MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) have played an invaluable role in the structural characterization and quantification of drug metabolites. Indeed, liquid chromatography (LC) coupled with atmospheric pressure ionization (API) MS has now become the most powerful tool for the rapid detection, structure elucidation, and quantification of drug-derived material within various biological fluids. Often, however, MS alone is insufficient to identify the exact position of oxidation, to differentiate isomers, or to provide the precise structure of unusual and/or unstable metabolites. In addition, an excess of endogenous material in biological samples often suppress the ionization of drug-related material complicating metabolite identification by MS. In these cases, multiple analytical and wet chemistry techniques, such as LC-NMR, enzymatic hydrolysis, chemical derivatization, and hydrogen/deuterium-exchange (H/D-exchange) combined with MS are used to characterize the novel and isomeric metabolites of drug candidates. This review describes sample preparation and introduction strategies to minimize ion suppression by biological matrices for metabolite identification studies, the application of various LC-tandem MS (LC-MS/MS) techniques for the rapid quantification and identification of drug metabolites, and future trends in this field.  相似文献

Thermal vibration of the atoms in a crystal give rise to a diffuse background in the diffraction pattern (in between the normal allowed Bragg reflections). The Einstein model for phonon vibrations in a crystal leads to Gaussian statistics for the phonons. However, the Einstein model ignores the possibility of correlation between the atoms. An accurate model of the phonon dispersion curves for silicon is used to generate a set of more accurate random atomic displacements. These displacements are used in a multislice-style simulation to gauge the validity of the Einstein approximation. The phonon dispersion curve yields a small additional oscillatory structure in the thermal diffuse scattering (TDS) pattern. This does not produce significant changes in the annular dark field scanning transmission electron microscope (ADF-STEM) image signal, but could have a large impact on convergent beam measurements of bond charges.  相似文献

The high natural abundance of silicon, together with its excellent reliability and good efficiency in solar cells, suggest its continued use in production of solar energy, on massive scales, for the foreseeable future. Although organics, nanocrystals, nanowires and other new materials hold significant promise, many opportunities continue to exist for research into unconventional means of exploiting silicon in advanced photovoltaic systems. Here, we describe modules that use large-scale arrays of silicon solar microcells created from bulk wafers and integrated in diverse spatial layouts on foreign substrates by transfer printing. The resulting devices can offer useful features, including high degrees of mechanical flexibility, user-definable transparency and ultrathin-form-factor microconcentrator designs. Detailed studies of the processes for creating and manipulating such microcells, together with theoretical and experimental investigations of the electrical, mechanical and optical characteristics of several types of module that incorporate them, illuminate the key aspects.  相似文献

This paper presents GATE Teamware—an open-source, web-based, collaborative text annotation framework. It enables users to carry out complex corpus annotation projects, involving distributed annotator teams. Different user roles are provided (annotator, manager, administrator) with customisable user interface functionalities, in order to support the complex workflows and user interactions that occur in corpus annotation projects. Documents may be pre-processed automatically, so that human annotators can begin with text that has already been pre-annotated and thus making them more efficient. The user interface is simple to learn, aimed at non-experts, and runs in an ordinary web browser, without need of additional software installation. GATE Teamware has been evaluated through the creation of several gold standard corpora and internal projects, as well as through external evaluation in commercial and EU text annotation projects. It is available as on-demand service on GateCloud.net, as well as open-source for self-installation.  相似文献
