Conventional process capability analysis is used to measure and control the quality level of a production process in real exercises for on-line quality management. There has been a deficiency in this type of management; namely, the defects which occur in the production process are only passively detected and modified afterwards. Additionally, conventional process capability expression has difficulty distinguishing between alternatives for process selection among possible candidates before process realisation. There is, therefore, considerable motivation for developing a process capability expression which can be used to evaluate alternatives at the beginning of the process design, i.e., off-line application. The conventional Cpm expression is built up by measuring mean deviation and process variances for on-line application. However, if Cpm is used for the process capability analysis for process design, an erroneous Cpm value is found and an inappropriate process design is ended. Thus, the proposed process capability expression revised from the conventional Cpm in consideration of the balance between tolerance cost and quality loss has been developed. This development is the main contribution of this research and, with this development, the appropriate mean and tolerance values can be determined simultaneously prior to the real production process so as to maximise the proposed process capability value. The production is then processed with the pre-determined mean and tolerance values in a real production process. The expectation after process realisation is that the produced responses will be the best of all the alternatives in terms of quality and cost, and that the process capability value obtained after the real production process will be close to the proposed process capability value maximised prior to the real production process.  相似文献

The significance of hardness, thickness, resistivity and surface-cleanliness of precious-metal electro- deposits for electrical contacts is discussed and illustrated. Exploratory studies have been made to assess the protective value and mechanical wear of gold, palladium and rhodium plating deposited from conventional electrolytes. It is concluded that the porosity of the coating is a highly important factor in determining the behaviour of electrodeposits. Recommendations are made regarding suitable thickness of deposit for the respective metals.  相似文献

We describe the incorporation of multiple fluorophores into a single stranded DNA (ssDNA) chain using terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT), a template-independent DNA polymerase that catalyzes the sequential addition of deoxynucleotides (dNTPs) at the 3'-OH group of an oligonucleotide primer; we term this methodology surface initiated enzymatic polymerization (SIEP) of DNA. We found that long (>1 Kb) ssDNA homopolymer can be grown by SIEP, and that the length of the ssDNA product is determined by the monomer to oligonucleotide initiator ratio. We observed efficient initiation (≥50%) and narrow polydispersity of the extended product when fluorescently labeled nucleotides are incorporated. TdT's ability to incorporate fluorescent dNTPs into a ssDNA chain was characterized by examining the effect of the molar ratios of fluorescent dNTP to natural dNTP on the degree of fluorophore incorporation and the length of the polymerized DNA strand. These experiments allowed us to optimize the polymerization conditions to incorporate up to ~50 fluorescent Cy3-labeled dNTPs per kilobase into a ssDNA chain. With the goal of using TdT as an on-chip labeling method, we also quantified TdT mediated signal amplification on the surface by immobilizing ssDNA oligonucleotide initiators on a glass surface followed by SIEP of DNA. The incorporation of multiple fluorophores into the extended DNA chain by SIEP translated to a ~45 fold signal amplification compared to the incorporation of a single fluorophore. SIEP was then employed to detect hybridization of DNA, by the posthybridization, on-chip polymerization of fluorescently labeled ssDNA that was grown from the 3'-OH of target strands that hybridized to DNA probes that were printed on a surface. A dose-response curve for detection of DNA hybridization by SIEP was generated, with a ~1 pM limit of detection and a linear dynamic range of 2 logs.  相似文献

We demonstrate the use of thin BN sheets as supports for imaging nanocrystals using low voltage (80 kV) aberration-corrected high resolution transmission electron microscopy. This provides an alternative to the previously utilized 2D crystal supports of graphene and graphene oxide. A simple chemical exfoliation method is applied to get few layer boron nitride (BN) sheets with micrometer-sized dimensions. This generic approach of using BN sheets as supports is shown by depositing Mn doped ZnSe nanocrystals directly onto the BN sheets and resolving the atomic structure from both the ZnSe nanocrystals and the BN support. Phase contrast images reveal moiré patterns of interference between the beams diffracted by the nanocrystals and the BN substrate that are used to determine the relative orientation of the nanocrystals with respect to the BN sheets and interference lattice planes. Double diffraction is observed and has been analyzed.  相似文献

The high natural abundance of silicon, together with its excellent reliability and good efficiency in solar cells, suggest its continued use in production of solar energy, on massive scales, for the foreseeable future. Although organics, nanocrystals, nanowires and other new materials hold significant promise, many opportunities continue to exist for research into unconventional means of exploiting silicon in advanced photovoltaic systems. Here, we describe modules that use large-scale arrays of silicon solar microcells created from bulk wafers and integrated in diverse spatial layouts on foreign substrates by transfer printing. The resulting devices can offer useful features, including high degrees of mechanical flexibility, user-definable transparency and ultrathin-form-factor microconcentrator designs. Detailed studies of the processes for creating and manipulating such microcells, together with theoretical and experimental investigations of the electrical, mechanical and optical characteristics of several types of module that incorporate them, illuminate the key aspects.  相似文献

Uranium associations with colloidal and truly dissolved soil porewater components from two Ministry of Defence Firing Ranges in the UK were investigated. Porewater samples from 2-cm depth intervals for three soil cores from each of the Dundrennan and Eskmeals ranges were fractionated using centrifugal ultrafiltration (UF) and gel electrophoresis (GE). Soil porewaters from a transect running downslope from the Dundrennan firing area towards a stream (Dunrod Burn) were examined similarly. Uranium concentrations and isotopic composition were determined using Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) and Multi-Collector-Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS), respectively.The soils at Dundrennan were Fe- and Al-rich clay-loam soils whilst at Eskmeals, they were Fe- and Al-poor sandy soils; both, however, had similar organic matter contents due to the presence of a near-surface peaty layer at Eskmeals. These compositional features influenced the porewater composition and indeed the associations of U (and DU). In general, at Dundrennan, U was split between large (100 kDa-0.2 μm) and small (3-30 kDa) organic colloids whilst at Eskmeals, U was mainly in the small colloidal and truly dissolved fractions. Especially below 10 cm depth, association with large Fe/Al/organic colloids was considered to be a precursor to the removal of U from the Dundrennan porewaters to the solid phase. In contrast, the association of U with small organic colloids was largely responsible for inhibiting attenuation in the Eskmeals soils.Lateral migration of U (and DU) through near-surface Dundrennan soils will involve both large and small colloids but, at depth, transport of the smaller amounts of U remaining in the porewaters may involve large colloids only. For one of the Dundrennan cores the importance of redox-related processes for the re-mobilisation of DU was also indicated as MnIV reduction resulted in the release of both MnII and UVI into the truly dissolved phase.  相似文献

This study was carried out in a closed test chamber under natural decay, negative ionic air cleaner application, as well as air mixing mechanism with negative ionic air cleaner. Among three operation modes, the air mixing mechanism with negative ionic air cleaner can reduce particles better under the flow field condition. In the air mixing, especially vigorous one (5 ACH (Air Changes per hour)), enhanced the air cleaning effect. The highest removal efficiency was measured at a height of 0.6 m from the floor and it was decreased substantially with an increase in height. The relative effectiveness of negative ionic air cleaners was predicted to decrease with an increasing particle size. We also found that there was a limited horizontal diffusion of ions. The empirical curves fit based for the concentration gradient of NAI (Negative air ionization) generated was developed for estimating the NAI concentration with different heights and distances from the source of negative ionic air cleaner discharge.  相似文献

When building fires occur in large, open compartments they rarely burn uniformly across an entire floor plate of a structure. Instead, they tend to travel, igniting fuel in their path and burning it out as they move to the next fuel package. Current structural fire design methods do not account for these types of fires. This paper applies a novel methodology for defining a family of possible heating regimes to a framed concrete structure using the concept of travelling fires. A finite-element model of a generic concrete structure is used to study the impact of the family of fires; both relative to one another and in comparison to the conventional codified temperature-time curves. It is found that travelling fires have a significant impact on the performance of the structure and that the current design approaches cannot be assumed to be conservative. Further, it is found that a travelling fire of approximately 25% of the floor plate in size is the most severe in terms of structural response. It is concluded that the new approach is simple to implement, provides more realistic fire scenarios, and is more conservative than current design methods.  相似文献

This paper introduces a mathematical model of tolerance chart balancing for machining process planning under complete inspection. The criteria considered in this study are based on the combined effects of manufacturing cost and quality loss, under constraints such as process capability limits, product design specifications, and product quality requirements. Manufacturing costs include the machining cost, part cost, inspection cost, reworking cost, and replacement cost. The machining cost is expressed in geometrical decreasing functions, which represent tolerances to be assigned. Process variability is expressed in quadratic loss functions, which represent the deviation between the part measurement and the target value. An example is presented to demonstrate the proposed model. A comparison made with previous methods shows that the proposed model minimizes the total cost of manufacturing activities and quality-related issues in machining process planning, particularly in the early stages. Moreover, the applications are not be limited to machining process planning but can also be used in other forms of production planning.  相似文献
