Using an oxygen content indicator in a coal-dust boiler fuel controller

The results of installing a circuit for regulating the fuel input to the 300 MW coal-dust power plant at the Novocherkassk State Regional Electric Power Plant (Novocherkasskaya GRéS) based on an indicator of the oxygen content in the flue gases are described. The goal is to improve the quality of the controller response to perturbations in the fuel channel. The system and its structure are described, as well as transient control processes in the original and new systems in response to standard perturbations. Production aspects of the manufacture and operation of torcrete mixes

Production aspects of the manufacture and operation of torcrete mix MAGMS 85 are considered together with its main properties, i.e. transportability, efficiency during application to the surface of an intermediate ladle reinforcing layer, and also torcrete layer life. Results are provided for practical industrial tests of a torcrete mix with several versions of binder and the effect of them on the time for passage of a mix through an Engler viscometer is determined.     

Formation of an interphase interface in the Ni-Mo system during irradiation by high-energy electrons

The diffusion penetrability and thermal conductivity of the interphase interface in the Mo(20 μm)-Ni(1 mm) system is studied during thermal annealing and high-energy electron irradiation. It is shown that the thermal conductivity can be used to study the diffusion process of forming a quasi-stationary state at the interface.     

A Study of the Process of Fabrication of Polymer Replicas

A method of fabricating polymer replicas with the use of polymer solutions is described. It is shown that the adequacy of a replica is determined by the physicochemical processes on the microsection – polymer solution interface, in particular, by surface tension and wetting. The limiting wetting angle is determined for a number of polymer materials and solvents. The limiting wetting angle is shown to depend on the kind of material and on the kind of solvent as well as on their proportion in the solution. Polymer materials and solvents, the appropriate combination of which provides better wetting and hence better reflection of the studied microstructure by the replicas, are determined. The optical properties of polymer replicas, i.e., their reflectivity, resolving power, and contrast, are determined. The study makes it possible to pass from empirical to scientifically substantiated choice of materials, solvents, and their proportion for obtaining adequate replicas.     

Materials for the protection of surfaces against abrasive wear

Summary The results are presented of a study of the characteristics of abrasive wear resistance of some cermets. It is shown that the use of materials based on refractory compounds enables the life and reliability of machines and mechanisms to be increased. Thus, the life of a mold for the compaction of ferrites was increased 135-fold by using the new materials.
