A novel technique to estimate and model rotor-body parameters of a large steam turbine-generator from real time disturbance data is presented. For each set of disturbance data collected at different operating conditions, the rotor body parameters of the generator are estimated using an output error method (OEM). Artificial neural network (ANN) based estimators are later used to model the nonlinearities in the estimated parameters based on the generator operating conditions. The developed ANN models are then validated with measurements not used in the training procedure. The performance of estimated parameters is also validated with extensive simulations and compared against the manufacturer values  相似文献

Microwave heating is recognized for its various advantages, such as time and energy saving, very rapid heating rates, considerably reduced processing cycle time and temperature, fine microstructures and improved properties. The present paper investigates the feasibility of consolidating tungsten powders through microwave sintering. Blended, grafted, and plasma-treated modified PVCs are described for various medical applications. A comprehensive poromechanics-based modeling framework that can be used to model transport and deformation in food materials under a variety of processing conditions and states (rubbery or glassy) has been developed. Simplifications to the model equations have been developed, based on driving forces for deformation (moisture change and gas pressure development) and on the state of food material for transport. The framework is applied to two completely different food processes (contact heating of hamburger patties and drying of potatoes). The modeling framework is implemented using total Lagrangian mesh for solid momentum balance and Eulerian mesh for transport equations, and validated using experimental data. Transport in liquid phase dominates for both the processes, with hamburger patty shrinking with moisture loss for all moisture contents, while shrinkage in potato stops below a critical moisture content.  相似文献

Multiphase transport model to simulate drying of honeycomb ceramic substrates in a conventional (hot air) drier is developed. Heat and moisture transport in the honeycomb walls as well as channels is modeled. The model predictions are validated against experiments done for drying of cylinder-shaped substrates by comparing histories and axial profiles of moisture loss and point temperature histories at various locations. Drying experiments are performed at two different values of air temperature, 103°C and 137°C, at a relative humidity value of 5%. Sensitivity analysis reveals that the drying process is controlled by heat and water vapor transport. External heat transfer is the dominant resistance mechanism for energy transport, whereas internal convection and binary diffusion dominate the resistance to vapor transport.  相似文献

Fluorescence spectra of coal derived asphaltenes sourced from Barari coke plant situated at Dhanbad, India, have been studied as a function of concentration in benzene, toluene and carbon tetrachloride with an eye to study the self-aggregation of the solute. Aggregation has been found to be a gradual process and the concentration characterizing onset of aggregation process coincide for the solvents. The critical aggregation constants (CAC) appear to be ca 90-100 and 180-200 for all the solvents. A small red shift of fluorescence band is observed when traces of water (∼0.05%, v/v) are present in carbon tetrachloride solution.  相似文献

Microencapsulation of phase change material (PCM) n‐octadecane was carried out by interfacial polymerization technique using core and bulk monomers as toluene‐2,4‐diisocyanate (TDI) and diethylene triamine (DETA), respectively. Cyclohexane was used as the solvent for TDI and n‐octadecane, which formed the oil phase. The effect of encapsulation procedure, core‐to‐monomer ratio (CM ratio) and PCM‐to‐cyclohexane (PC) ratio was investigated on core content, encapsulation efficiency, and stability of microcapsules. Using a modified procedure, the core content was found to increase with the increasing CM ratio and reached a maximum at 3.7, while the encapsulation efficiency continuously decreased with the increasing CM ratio. Also the encapsulation efficiency was found to have a strong dependence on PC ratio and a maximum encapsulation efficiency of 92%, along with the core content of 70% was obtained with CM ratio of 3.7 along with the PC ratio of 6. The microcapsules were well shaped, i.e., round and regular, with narrow size distribution at these conditions. The effect of gain nonlinearities on the dynamic response is studied using a nonperturbative form of the nonlinear gain in the signal-mode rate equation. The nonperturbative form is different from that used previously and leads to qualitative and quantitative differences in the intensity dependence of the important dynamic parameters such as the frequency and the damping rate for relaxation oscillations. The results are important for the design of high-speed semiconductor lasers and suggest that the new form of the nonlinear gain should be used for modeling the modulation response in both the small-signal and large-signal regimes  相似文献
