Abstract. This article describes a polynomial estimation technique based on the state‐space model and develops an estimation method for the quadratic estimation problem by applying the multivariate recursive least squares (RLS) Wiener estimator to the quadratic estimation of a stochastic signal in linear discrete‐time stochastic systems. The augmented signal vector includes the signal to be estimated and its quadratic quantity. The augmented signal vector is modelled in terms of an autoregressive model of appropriate order. A numerical simulation example for the speech signal as a practical stochastic signal is implemented and its estimation accuracy is found to be considerably improved in comparison with the existing RLS Wiener estimators. The proposed method may be applied advantageously to the quadratic estimations of wide‐sense stationary stochastic signals in general. 相似文献

We propose a new approach for converting light energy into electrical energy, based on the photogeneration of nano-dipoles at donor-acceptor interfaces. The nano-dipoles are oriented in space so as to contribute to a collective polarization that induces a potential difference across the material, sandwiched between electrodes. A current is detected in the external circuit upon illumination. Such a device would exploit many advantages of organic semiconductors and get rid of the main limitation, namely transport. We provide a proof of concept and we discuss the ideal limit of the device based on numerical simulations. This provides design guidelines to the achievement of best performances. Simulations show that the proposed device can be an appealing opportunity with giant conversion efficiency provided some technological issues are overcome. 相似文献

Emerging evidence has suggested that dysbiosis of the gut microbiota may influence the drug efficacy of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients during cancer treatment by modulating drug metabolism and the host immune response. Moreover, gut microbiota can produce metabolites that may influence tumor proliferation and therapy responsiveness. In this study we have investigated the potential contribution of the gut microbiota and microbial-derived metabolites such as short chain fatty acids and polyamines to neoadjuvant radiochemotherapy (RCT) outcome in CRC patients. First, we established a profile for healthy gut microbiota by comparing the microbial diversity and composition between CRC patients and healthy controls. Second, our metagenomic analysis revealed that the gut microbiota composition of CRC patients was relatively stable over treatment time with neoadjuvant RCT. Nevertheless, treated patients who achieved clinical benefits from RTC (responders, R) had significantly higher microbial diversity and richness compared to non-responder patients (NR). Importantly, the fecal microbiota of the R was enriched in butyrate-producing bacteria and had significantly higher levels of acetic, butyric, isobutyric, and hexanoic acids than NR. In addition, NR patients exhibited higher serum levels of spermine and acetyl polyamines (oncometabolites related to CRC) as well as zonulin (gut permeability marker), and their gut microbiota was abundant in pro-inflammatory species. Finally, we identified a baseline consortium of five bacterial species that could potentially predict CRC treatment outcome. Overall, our results suggest that the gut microbiota may have an important role in the response to cancer therapies in CRC patients. 相似文献

The food-processing industry has made large investments in processing facilities relying mostly on conventional thermal processing
technologies with well-established reliability and efficacy. Replacing them with one of the novel alternatives recently developed
is a decision that must be carefully approached. Among them, high-pressure processing (HPP), at room or refrigerated temperature,
is now a well-established option experiencing worldwide commercial growth. Surveys have shown an excellent consumer acceptance
of HPP technology. For financial feasibility reasons, HPP treatments must be kept short, a challenge that can be met by some
of the alternatives here reviewed such as the use of the hurdle technology concept. Although HPP technology is limited to
pasteurization treatments, the combination of high pressure and high temperature used in pressure-assisted thermal processing
(PATP) can be used to sterilize foods. An analysis of alternatives to achieve the inactivation of bacterial spores at the
lowest temperature possible highlights the need for additional research on the use of germinants. Because of incomplete research,
PATP presents several implementation challenges, including the modeling of food temperature, the determination of inactivation
kinetics particularly for bacterial spores, and the prediction of chemical changes including the potential formation of toxic

Hydrogen peroxide has been used to oxidize a sorbed aromatic contaminant in a loamy sand with 195.9 g kg(-1) of organic carbon by using iron as catalyst at 20 degrees C. The 2,4-dimethylphenol (2,4-DMP) was chosen as pollutant. Because of this soil generates a slightly basic pH in contact to an aqueous phase the solubility of the iron cation was determined in absence and presence of a chelating agent (l-ascorbic acid, l-Asc) and with and without soil. From results, it was found that in presence of soil the iron cation was always adsorbed or precipitaed onto the soil. Therefore, the procedure selected for soil remediation was to add firstly the iron solution used as catalyst and following the hydrogen peroxide solution used as oxidant. As iron cation is sorbed onto the soil before the oxidant reagent is provided a heterogeneous catalytic system results. This modified Fenton runs have been carried out using 0.11 mg(2,4-DMP) g(-1)(soil) and 2.1 mg(Fe) g(-1)(soil). The H(2)O(2)/pollutant weight ratios used were 182 and 364. The results show that H(2)O(2) oxidizes 2,4-DMP producing CO(2) and acetic acid. After 20 min of reaction time a pollutant conversion of 75% and 86% was found, depending on the H(2)O(2) dosage. Moreover, it was found that hydrogen peroxide was heterogeneously decomposed by the soil (due to its organic and/or inorganic components) and its decomposition rate decreases when the iron was previously precipitated-impregnated into the soil. 相似文献

Approaches for improving the profile of functional unsaturated fatty acids in pork products include dietary supplementation of pigs with functional oils. Little information is available to indicate the benefit of this approach in a processed and cooked pork product such as breakfast sausages. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to examine the fatty acid profile and oxidation level in cooked pork sausages, produced following dietary supplementation with CLA compared to sunflower oil (SFO). Fat and moisture percentages, total fatty acid profiles and TBARS were analysed. Fatty acid profiles were altered in the sausages following all treatments. While a stronger effect was seen for CLA treatments, addition of SFO in the diet also resulted in linear increases of CLA in the sausages. CLA supplementation resulted in increased saturated fatty acid content; however, all treatments were within the recommended polyunsaturated/saturated fatty acid ratio of above 0.4. Improved oxidative stability was observed in sausages from CLA supplemented diets. 相似文献

ABSTRACTThe thought-provoking EPSRC Principles of Robotics stem largely from the reflection on the extent to which robots can affect our lives. These comments highlight the fact that, while the principles may address to a good extent the present technological challenges, they appear to be less immediately suited for future technological and conceptual dares. The first part of the paper is dedicated to the search of the definition of what a robot is. Such a definition should offer the basic conceptual platform on which a normative endeavour, aiming to regulate robots in society, should be based. Concluding that the Principles offer no clear yet flexible insight into such a (meta-) definition, which would allow one to take into account the parameters of informed technological imagination and of envisaged social transformation, the second half of the paper highlights a number of regulatory points of tension. Such tensions, it is argued, stem largely from the absence of an appropriate conceptual platform, influencing negatively the extent to which the principles can be effective in guiding social, ethical, legal and scientific conduct. 相似文献

Although there is considerable consensus that Finance, Management and Marketing are ‘science’, some debate remains with regard to whether these three areas comprise autonomous, organized and settled scientific fields of research. In this paper we aim to explore this issue by analyzing the occurrence of citations in the top-ranked journals in the areas of Finance, Management, and Marketing. We put forward a modified version of the model of science as a network, proposed by Klamer and Van Dalen (J Econ Methodol 9(2):289–315, 2002), and conclude that Finance is a ‘Relatively autonomous, organized and settled field of research’, whereas Management and (to a larger extent) Marketing are relatively non-autonomous and hybrid fields of research’. Complementary analysis based on sub-discipline rankings using the recursive methodology of Liebowitz and Palmer (J Econ Lit 22:77–88, 1984) confirms the results. In conclusions we briefly discuss the pertinence of Whitley’s (The intellectual and social organization of the sciences, 1984) theory for explaining cultural differences across these sub-disciplines based on its dimensions of scholarly practices, ‘mutual dependency’ and ‘task uncertainty’. 相似文献

Phenolics and volatiles are the compounds mainly responsible for the desirable flavour of extra virgin olive oils and therefore to a large extent determine the degree of consumer preference for this highly regarded product. The effect of both (i) the nature of the cultivar and (ii) the degree of ripening of the olive fruit on the biophenolic and volatile profiles of six different Spanish varieties (Arbequina, Cornicabra, Morisca, Picolimón, Picudo and Picual) and their corresponding virgin olive oils was determined in this study. A clear and statistically significant difference was observed for the oleuropein content, the main phenolic component found in the olive varieties studied. Demethyloleuropein was only found in the Arbequina variety and its content doubled during the ripening process. Verbascoside steadily increased throughout fruit maturation and cyanidin 3-O-rutinoside was the most abundant anthocyanin in all the varieties studied. Within the same cultivar a relationship between the oleosides content in the fruit and the presence of secoiridoids in the virgin olive oils was observed; however, the ratio between biophenols content in the olive fruit and in the virgin olive oil varied significantly for each of the cultivars studied (ranging from 2.3 for Picudo and 28 for Picolimon). The major volatile component was the C6 aldehyde fraction whose content varied greatly between the different varieties studied: E-2-hexenal content ranged from 20.5 mg of internal standard (4-methyl-2-pentanol) per kg of oil in the Arbequina variety to 3.1 mg/kg for Cornicabra; the amount of hexanal ranged from 1.75 mg/kg in Morisca to 0.70 mg/kg for Picual samples. 相似文献
