Efficient capture and rapid detection of pathogenic bacteria from body fluids lead to early diagnostics of bacterial infections and significantly enhance the survival rate. We propose a universal nano/microfluidic device integrated with a 3D nanostructured detection platform for sensitive and quantifiable detection of pathogenic bacteria. Surface characterization of the nanostructured detection platform confirms a uniform distribution of hierarchical 3D nano‐/microisland (NMI) structures with spatial orientation and nanorough protrusions. The hierarchical 3D NMI is the unique characteristic of the integrated device, which enables enhanced capture and quantifiable detection of bacteria via both a probe‐free and immunoaffinity detection method. As a proof of principle, we demonstrate probe‐free capture of pathogenic Escherichia coli (E. coli) and immunocapture of methicillin‐resistant‐Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Our device demonstrates a linear range between 50 and 104 CFU mL?1, with average efficiency of 93% and 85% for probe‐free detection of E. coli and immunoaffinity detection of MRSA, respectively. It is successfully demonstrated that the spatial orientation of 3D NMIs contributes in quantifiable detection of fluorescently labeled bacteria, while the nanorough protrusions contribute in probe‐free capture of bacteria. The ease of fabrication, integration, and implementation can inspire future point‐of‐care devices based on nanomaterial interfaces for sensitive and high‐throughput optical detection.  相似文献

Films prepared by conventional casting onto trays such as teflon-coated perspex trays (TCPTs) suffer from poor drug content uniformity. The aim of this study was to prepare a silicone-molded tray (SMT) with individual wells for film casting and to evaluate it in terms of enhancing drug content uniformity. Films were prepared by solvent evaporation or emulsification and cast onto TCPT and SMT. Preparation of films by the SMT method was superior in terms of meeting drug content uniformity requirements. As compared with the TCPT method, the SMT casting method also reduced the variability in mucoadhesivity, drug release, and film thickness. Reproducibility of the SMT method was demonstrated in terms of drug content, mucoadhesion, and drug release.  相似文献

We report the study of the effects of processing parameters and additive concentration on the structure, microstructure and microwave dielectric properties of MTO–CeO2 (x wt.%) ceramics with x = 0, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 prepared by solid-state reaction method by adding CeO2 nanoparticles as a sintering aid. The pure Mg2TiO4 ceramics were not densifiable below 1450 °C. However, when CeO2 nanoparticles were added to MTO, the densification achieved at 1300 °C along with the increase in average grain size with the uniform microstructure and improved microwave dielectric properties. This is mainly driven by the large surface energy of CeO2 nanoparticles and their defect energy during the sintering process. While the addition of CeO2 nanoparticles in MTO ceramics does not change the dielectric constant (?r), the unloaded quality factor (Qu) was altered significantly. MTO–CeO2 (1.5 wt.%) ceramics sintered at 1300 °C exhibit superior microwave dielectric properties (?r  14.6, Q × f0  167 THz), as compared to the pure Mg2TiO4 ceramics. The observed results are correlated to the enhancement in density and the development of uniform microstructure with the enhanced grain size.  相似文献

We report the low temperature noncollinear magnetic behavior of direct current (DC) sputtered FePt thin films investigated by performing DC magnetization, thermoremanence, magnetic relaxation, and electrical transport measurements down to 1.8 K. The obtained results, interestingly, indicate a transition from ferromagnetic state to a low temperature disordered state where a collective frozen magnetic state with grain moments oriented randomly occurs. The magnetic relaxation and electrical resistivity measurements at low temperature support the spin-glass like phase, which diminishes and finally disappears with an applied field of moderate strength. We interpret the observed low temperature noncollinear magnetic behavior to be due to random freezing of grain moments.  相似文献

Hierarchical assembly of colloidal Sm2Co7/Co clusters in the form of nanospheres has been processed through a polyol process. The SmCo nanospheres are found to be robust, uniform ( 100 nm) and tend to self-assemble in the form of ordered superstructures. Each nanosphere consists of large number of discrete fine particles ( 6.0 nm), having two-phase structure of both Sm2Co7 and Co-phases. Upon annealing, these phases transform into Sm2Co17 phase with very high magnetization (169 emu/g). A possible mechanism on the formation of nanospheres from the individual Sm2Co2o7 and Co nanoparticles is also discussed.  相似文献

The present study was conducted to analyse the physiochemical properties of Indian paneer whey. High concentration of minerals such as potassium, calcium, zinc and sodium, as NaCl, were observed which indicates the suitability of paneer whey in the preparation of beverages. A central composite rotatable design (CCRD) of response surface methodology (RSM) was employed to optimise the hydrolysis of lactose from whey using cold‐active β‐galactosidase of Thalassospira frigidphilosprofundus. Results indicated that 80% of lactose was hydrolysed at pH of 6.5 at 20 °C in 40 min in comparison with 40% at 30 °C. This emphasises the potential use of cold‐active β‐galactosidase in dairy industry.  相似文献

The present study was aimed to evaluate the different proportions of carrier materials: Moringa oleifera gum (MG), maltodextrin (MD), and inlet temperature on the powder characteristics of encapsulated tender coconut water (TCW) by spray drying. The characterization of microparticle was studied as encapsulation efficiency, antioxidant activity, total phenolic content, moisture content, water activity, solubility, particle morphology, and encapsulation yield. The investigation was conducted using an experimental design of 22 mixes with five replicates at the center point. The encapsulation efficiency was affected by all tested variables and reached significantly (p < 0.05) higher value (94.86%) when higher MG concentration, and lower MD concentration, and inlet temperature were applied. The DPPH (53.66%) and ABTS radical scavenging activity (54.92%) was observed to be higher at the highest MG concentration (1.5%). The obtained powder retained a higher amount of phenol content (21.82 mg GAE/g) at increasing MG concentration, with decreasing MD concentration, and inlet temperature. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed that TCW powder encapsulated with 1.5% MG exhibited higher crystalline nature as compared to microparticle encapsulated with 0.5 and 1% MG. The optimum wall material composition and inlet temperature were determined as follows: MD 30%, MG 1.5%, and 120 °C inlet temperature. Hence, our results suggest that the application of this technology could increase the use of TCW in various industrial applications and imply MG as a potent candidate for microencapsulation of food materials.  相似文献

It is essential to study the phytochemical constituents and toxicological properties of seagrasses when considering their food applications. Aqueous methanolic extracts of six seagrasses were evaluated for their antibacterial, cytotoxic (brine shrimp leathality assay) and haemolytic activity. Thin layer chromatography (TLC) and phytochemical analysis were used to compare the phytochemical profiles of six seagrasses. Among the six seagrasses examined, Halodule pinifolia and Cymodocea rotundata showed predominant growth inhibitory activity against all the tested human pathogens. Cytotoxicity of seagrass extracts against nauplii of Artemia salina revealed that Syringodium isoetifolium exhibited lesser toxicity with LC50 value of 699.096 μg/ml. Of all the seagrasses tested, H. pinifolia recorded the minimum haemolytic activity of 2.07 ± 0.63% at 1000 μg/ml concentration. Phytochemical analysis showed the presence of common plant chemical constituents which varied with respect to species. The present findings suggest the possible pharmacological applications of selected seagrasses that can be used as food ingredients.  相似文献
