The concentrations of some elements in a few varieties of cereals and pulses are determined by Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis using a single comparator method (k0-standardised NAA method). A total of 15 elements are measured. The method was validated by analysing the Standard Reference Material (SRM-1571) of NIST; the results are within +/-10% of the reported values for the majority of the elements. The measured concentrations of major and minor elements are analysed in terms of the average intake of mineral content and the role of these elements in terms of the nutritional value. 相似文献

In this paper, we consider a critically loaded G/M/1 queue and contrast its transient behaviour with the transient behaviour of stable (or unstable) G/M/1 queues. We show that the departure process from a critical G/M/1 queue converges weakly to a Poisson process. However, as opposed to the stable (or unstable) case, we show that the departure process of a critical GI/M/1 queue does not couple in finite time with a Poisson process (even though it converges weakly to one). Thus, as the traffic intensity (ratio of arrival to service rates), , ranges over (0, ∞), the point = 1 represents a singularity with regard to the convergence mode of the departure process. 相似文献

We demonstrate sensitive spatially resolved detection of physiological chromophores that emit in the ultraviolet (<330 nm). An atypical laser source (a visible wavelength femtosecond optical parametric oscillator), and an unconventional collection geometry (a lensless detector that detects the forward-emitted fluorescence) enable this detection. We report the excitation spectra of the catecholamines dopamine and norepinephrine, together with near-UV emitters serotonin and tryptophan, in the range of 550-595 nm. We estimate the molecular two-photon action cross section of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin to be 1.2 mGM (1 GM, or Goppert Mayor, is equal to 10(-58) m4 s(-1) photon(-1)), 2 mGM, and 43 mGM, respectively, at 560 nm. The sensitivity achieved by this method holds promise for the microscopic imaging of vesicular catecholamines in live cells. 相似文献

Current epileptic seizure "prediction" algorithms are generally based on the knowledge of seizure occurring time and analyze the electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings retrospectively. It is then obvious that, although these analyses provide evidence of brain activity changes prior to epileptic seizures, they cannot be applied to develop implantable devices for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. In this paper, we describe an adaptive procedure to prospectively analyze continuous, long-term EEG recordings when only the occurring time of the first seizure is known. The algorithm is based on the convergence and divergence of short-term maximum Lyapunov exponents (STLmax) among critical electrode sites selected adaptively. A warning of an impending seizure is then issued. Global optimization techniques are applied for selecting the critical groups of electrode sites. The adaptive seizure prediction algorithm (ASPA) was tested in continuous 0.76 to 5.84 days intracranial EEG recordings from a group of five patients with refractory temporal lobe epilepsy. A fixed parameter setting applied to all cases predicted 82% of seizures with a false prediction rate of 0.16/h. Seizure warnings occurred an average of 71.7 min before ictal onset. Similar results were produced by dividing the available EEG recordings into half training and testing portions. Optimizing the parameters for individual patients improved sensitivity (84% overall) and reduced false prediction rate (0.12/h overall). These results indicate that ASPA can be applied to implantable devices for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. 相似文献

An efficient resource allocation is a fundamental requirement in high performance computing (HPC) systems. Many projects are dedicated to large-scale distributed computing systems that have designed and developed resource allocation mechanisms with a variety of architectures and services. In our study, through analysis, a comprehensive survey for describing resource allocation in various HPCs is reported. The aim of the work is to aggregate under a joint framework, the existing solutions for HPC to provide a thorough analysis and characteristics of the resource management and allocation strategies. Resource allocation mechanisms and strategies play a vital role towards the performance improvement of all the HPCs classifications. Therefore, a comprehensive discussion of widely used resource allocation strategies deployed in HPC environment is required, which is one of the motivations of this survey. Moreover, we have classified the HPC systems into three broad categories, namely: (a) cluster, (b) grid, and (c) cloud systems and define the characteristics of each class by extracting sets of common attributes. All of the aforementioned systems are cataloged into pure software and hybrid/hardware solutions. ABSTRACTIn this article, we modify Mumford–Shah level-set model to handle speckles and blur in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery. The proposed model is formulated using a non-local regularization framework. Hence, the model duly cares about local gradient oscillations (corresponding to the fine details/textures) during the evolution process. It is assumed that the speckle intensity is gamma distributed, while designing a maximum a posteriori estimator of the functional. The parameters of the gamma distribution (i.e. scale and shape) are estimated using a maximum likelihood estimator. The regularization parameter of the model is evaluated adaptively using these (estimated) parameters at each iteration. The split-Bregman iterative scheme is employed to improve the convergence rate of the model. The proposed and the state-of-the-art despeckling models are experimentally verified and compared using a large number of speckled and blurred SAR images. Synchrotron white-beam x-ray topography (SWBXT) studies of defects in 100-mm-diameter 4H-SiC wafers grown using physical vapor transport are presented. SWBXT enables nondestructive examination of thick and large-diameter SiC wafers, and defects can be imaged directly. Analysis of the contrast from these defects enables determination of their configuration, which, in turn, provides insight into their possible formation mechanisms. Apart from the usual defects present in the wafers, including micropipes, threading edge dislocations, threading screw dislocations, and basal plane dislocations, a new stacking fault with a peculiar configuration attracts our interest. This fault has the shape of a six-pointed star, comprising faults with three different fault vectors of Shockley type. Transmission and grazing topography of the fault area are carried out, and detailed contrast analysis reveals that the outline of the star is confined by 30° Shockley partial dislocations. A micropipe, which became the source of dislocations on both the basal plane slip system and the prismatic slip system, is found to be associated with the formation of the star fault. The postulated mechanism involves the reaction of 60° dislocations of a/3 〈 $ \bar{2}110 $ 〉 Burgers vector on basal plane and pure screw dislocations of a/3 〈 $ 11\bar{2}0 $ 〉 Burgers vector on prismatic plane and cross slip of the partial dislocation from prismatic plane to basal plane leading to expansion of the faults. 相似文献

Inspired by the widely present multienzyme complexes in nature that enable highly cooperative catalytic mechanisms, we designed a biomimetic dual‐functionalized nanoparticle‐based platform for colocalizing multiple enzymes. The use of nanoscale materials together with a novel sequential colocalization approach with two model enzymes [glucose oxidase (GOX) and horseradish peroxidase] resulted in a 100% increase in the overall conversion rate compared to the equivalent amount of free enzymes in solution and a physical mixture of individual immobilized enzymes on nanoparticles. GOX is an important enzyme used in glucose biosensors for diagnostics. Colocalizing GOX with peroxidase allows for colorimetric visualization of the peroxide formed that enables monitoring glucose levels in solution. Residual NiO phase is generally detected in 0.9(KNbO3)–0.1(BaNi1/2Nb1/2O3-δ) (KBNNO) synthesized using NiO as a nickel precursor by solid-state reaction. In this work, NiO phase is found to exist in the form of the residual NiO particles with a size of 100-200 nm using energy dispersive X-ray elemental mapping. These NiO residual particles are eliminated by using nickel acetate as a nickel precursor and a 100% perovskite phase KBNNO is successfully synthesized at as low as 600°C temperature. Furthermore, using the two-step sintering technique, 100% relative density is achieved in this material. The nickel acetate–based KBNNO shows a robust ferromagnetism with the saturation magnetization of 11.42 memu/g and the remanent magnetization of 3.89 memu/g which is 38 times higher than that of previously reported value in NiO-based KBNNO. Thus, a highly pure and fully dense KBNNO ceramic with superior magnetic properties is obtained using nickel acetate and by the two-step sintering method. This is a key step forward in the processing of KBNNO and is likely to have a significant impact on other physical properties of this newly invented and promising photovoltaic perovskite material. 相似文献
