Predictions made by the Generalized Regression Neural Networks (GRNN) method were used to relate the initial compositions of various reaction mixtures to the types of Na-aluminosilicate zeolites that may be obtained from these compositions. In the light of the predictions made, coatings were prepared on stainless steel plates, which were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy prior to and after syntheses. Coatings of zeolites P, X, A, analcime as well as their mixtures could be obtained from a variety of previously unknown clear solution compositions, generally in good accordance with the predictions made by the GRNN method. Different textural properties were obtained for the coatings of the same zeolite, such as P and X, which could be prepared from a relatively wide range of compositions.  相似文献

Hydrophobically modified poly[2‐(diethylamino)ethylmethacrylate‐co‐N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone/octadecyl acrylate) [P(DEAEMA‐co‐NVP/OA)] hydrogels were synthesized by free‐radical crosslinking copolymerization of 2‐(diethylamino)ethylmethacrylate (DEAEMA), N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NVP) with different amounts of hydrophobic comonomer octadecyl acrylate (OA) in tert‐butanol with ethylene glycole dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as a crosslinker. The swelling equilibrium of the hydrogels was investigated as a function of temperature and hydrophobic comonomer content in aqueous solutions of the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and the cationic surfactant dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB). The results indicated that the swelling behavior and temperature sensitivity of the hydrogels were affected by the type and concentration of surfactant solutions. Additionally, the amount of the adsorbed SDS and DTAB molecules onto the hydrogels was determined by fluorescence measurements. An increase of OA content in the hydrogel caused an increase in the amount of adsorbed surfactant molecules in both media. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In the absence of minerals as stiffening agents, insects and spiders often use metal‐ion cross‐linking of protein matrices in their fully organic load‐bearing “tools.” In this comparative study, the hierarchical fiber architecture, elemental distribution, and the micromechanical properties of the manganese‐ and calcium‐rich cuticle of the claws of the spider Cupiennius salei, and the Zn‐rich cuticle of the cheliceral fangs of the same animal are analyzed. By correlating experimental results to finite element analysis, functional microstructural and compositional adaptations are inferred leading to remarkable damage resilience and abrasion tolerance, respectively. The results further reveal that the incorporation of both zinc and manganese/calcium correlates well with increased biomaterial's stiffness and hardness. However, the abrasion‐resistance of the claw material cross‐linked by incorporation of Mn/Ca‐ions surpasses that of many other non‐mineralized biological counterparts and is comparable to that of the fang with more than triple Zn content. These biomaterial‐adaptation paradigms for enhanced wear‐resistance may serve as novel design principles for advanced, high‐performance, functional surfaces, and graded materials.  相似文献

The therapeutic potential of the dental pulp stem (DSC) cell-derived secretome, consisting of various biomolecules, is undergoing intense research. Despite promising in vitro and in vivo studies, most DSC secretome-based therapies have not been implemented in human medicine because the paracrine effect of the bioactive factors secreted by human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs) and human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHEDs) is not completely understood. In this review, we outline the current data on the hDPSC- and SHED-derived secretome as a potential candidate in the regeneration of bone, cartilage, and nerve tissue. Published reports demonstrate that the dental MSC-derived secretome/conditional medium may be effective in treating neurodegenerative diseases, neural injuries, cartilage defects, and repairing bone by regulating neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, antiapoptotic, and angiogenic processes through secretome paracrine mechanisms. Dental MSC-secretomes, similarly to the bone marrow MSC-secretome activate molecular and cellular mechanisms, which determine the effectiveness of cell-free therapy. Many reports emphasize that dental MSC-derived secretomes have potential application in tissue-regenerating therapy due to their multidirectional paracrine effect observed in the therapy of many different injured tissues.  相似文献

Energy savings performance contracts between the energy users and the energy service companies (ESCO) are used to finance energy efficiency investments by using the future energy savings that will result from these investments. We present an analytical model to characterise the energy savings performance contracts and discuss how the risks of estimating the energy savings affect the energy user and the service provider. This characterisation allows determination of the contract parameters for a balanced contract with the information about the energy savings that are expected from the planned energy-efficiency investments. Since it is difficult to get the statistical information about the energy savings before investing in an energy-efficiency project, we develop a distribution-free contract that sets the guaranteed energy savings level based on the mean and the standard deviation of the energy savings and the profit-sharing ratio between the ESCO and the energy user. We show that a simple distribution-free balanced contract performs satisfactorily when the distribution of the energy savings is not known and its mean and the standard deviation are estimated with error. Our analytical results show that the energy savings contracts with the right parameters can mitigate the risks related to realisation of the anticipated energy savings.  相似文献

Hydrophobic organic acids (combined humic and fulvic acids), obtained from an Antarctic Lake with predominantly microbially derived organic carbon sources and two US river systems with terrestrial organic carbon sources, were ozonated. Several analyses, including 13C‐NMR, UV absorbance, fluorescence, hydrophobic/transphilic classification, and potentiometric titrations, were performed before and after ozonation. Ozonation reduced aromatic carbon content, selectively reducing phenolic carbon content. Ozonation of the samples resulted in increased aliphatic, carboxyl, plus acetal and ketal anomeric carbon content and shifted towards less hydrophobic compounds.  相似文献

Abstract  

The hydrophobation of rosmarinic acid with saturated aliphatic primary alcohols of various chain lengths (methanol to eicosanol) was achieved via an acid-catalyzed esterification in the presence of a highly acidic sulfonic resin. The resulting alkyl rosmarinates were isolated, characterized and their global free radical scavenging activity was determined by the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl method in the stationary state. Only the dodecyl ester showed a stronger activity than rosmarinic acid.  相似文献
