The authors describe a low-power, battery-free tag for use in pervasive sensing applications such as wearable patient-monitoring systems and body sensor networks. The tag consists of a custom integrated circuit, an antenna for RF energy harvesting, and several sensors for monitoring important physiological parameters and generating alarms when necessary. They also describe experimental results with phonocardiogram and photoplethysmogram signals and demonstrate tag localization within 0.6 m by using an audio localization scheme.  相似文献

This work proposes a subspace approach that regularizes and extracts eigenfeatures from the face image. Eigenspace of the within-class scatter matrix is decomposed into three subspaces: a reliable subspace spanned mainly by the facial variation, an unstable subspace due to noise and finite number of training samples and a null subspace. Eigenfeatures are regularized differently in these three subspaces based on an eigenspectrum model to alleviate problems of instability, over-fitting or poor generalization. This also enables the discriminant evaluation performed in the whole space. Feature extraction or dimensionality reduction occurs only at the final stage after the discriminant assessment. These efforts facilitate a discriminative and stable low-dimensional feature representation of the face image. Experiments comparing the proposed approach with some other popular subspace methods on the FERET, ORL, AR and GT databases show that our method consistently outperforms others.  相似文献

In a through-process hot steel rolling, the material moves from the reheat furnace to the rolling stands, and finally to the runout table. In this work, the pseudo-bond graph model has been developed to predict the temperature distribution in this process, which includes the study of essential temperature dynamics inside the material. For each section of the through-process rolling section, an individual pseudo-bond graph model has been developed, and finally those are connected to each other. By using this model one can predict the output temperature at the end of the runout table for a given set of input parameters at the entry of reheat furnace.  相似文献

A 4% solar energy efficiency has been achieved for photogeneration of dihydrogen (H2) using MoS 4 2− as catalyst, when the anode compartment of a photogalvanic cell is illuminated. The generated photocurrent rises slowly with time and reaches a limiting value. Ten hours after the reaction starts, a secondary dark reaction sets in which produces H2 and photocurrent even when the light is switched off. Possible mechanisms in both cases have been suggested.  相似文献

Heteroglycan and xyloglucan rich fractions were extracted from Indian samples of Enteromorpha compressa in 25% yield by sequential extractions with water and alkali. This heteroglycan is sulfated and has an apparent molecular mass of 55 kDa. Chemical structural analysis of this polysaccharide revealed a branched structure having 1,4- and 1,2,4-linked rhamnose 3-sulphate, 1,4-linked glucose, 1,3- and 1,6- linked galactose, 1,4- and terminally linked glucuronic acid and 1,4-linked xylose partially sulfated on O-2. Chemical and spectroscopic analysis showed that the 4-M KOH extracted hemicellulosic fraction contained an unusual β-(1,4)-linked linear xyloglucan. Enzyme hydrolysis and analysis of the resulting fragments by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight-mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) showed that this linear polymer contained partially sulfated Glc3Xyl2 or Glc4Xyl2 as oligomeric building subunits.  相似文献

In recent years, an increasing need has arisen for various types of construction on sites underlain by soft cohesive soils. In such cases, some methods of soil improvement are usually required to provide adequate bearing capacity and tolerable postconstruction total and differential settlements. These goals often may be achieved by precompression or preloading the site prior to construction. Precompression and preloading are frequently used in combination with vertical drains, especially in very thick soft deposits, otherwise the time required for consolidation may be unacceptably long or the instability of the foundation may be a serious concern. Therefore, the vertical geocomposite (jute and coir) drain may be used to accelerate the settlement of soil thereby making the site available for use in the shortest time. The computer program and the design chart for determining the spacing between geocomposite drains are presented. This technique is generally useful for embankment construction, tank foundation, underwater construction and landfill areas. Two projects (Haldia in West Bengal and Vashi Station Complex in Bombay) have utilized the application of geocomposite drains reported in this paper.  相似文献
