Two expanded models (i.e., mediated and moderated) of the theory of work adjustment (TWA; R. V. Dawis, G. England, & L. H. Lofquist, 1964; R. V. Dawis & L. H. Lofquist, 1984) were tested for their capacity to explain the job satisfaction of a sample of lesbian, gay, and bisexual employees (N=397). Consistent with cultural critiques of the TWA, person-organization fit perceptions were tested as the mediator of the relationship between heterosexism and job satisfaction in one set of hypotheses, and experiences with informal heterosexism were tested as a moderator in the relationship between person-organization fit perceptions and job satisfaction in a separate set of hypotheses. Analyzed drinking response of 5 male White Carneaux pigeons by means of high-speed cinematography. Like eating, drinking may be subdivided into 3 movement patterns involving the effector systems of the neck, eyelids, and beak. The major topographic difference between the 2 responses involves beak opening (gape). In eating, beak opening begins prior to contact with the food, and the amount of gape is directly proportional to seed size. In drinking, the beak remains almost closed during descent and opens intermittently and with a relatively small gape during water intake. The topography of drinking in the pigeon differs from that of many birds, and these differences reflect a difference in the mechanism of water ingestion. Data in this study confirm previous observations of a general resemblance between certain features of the pigeon's drinking behavior and the topography of water-reinforced key pecks. This theoretical model of emotion is based on research using the startle-probe methodology. It explains inconsistencies in probe studies of attention and fear conditioning and provides a new approach to emotional perception, imagery, and memory. Emotions are organized biphasically, as appetitive or aversive (defensive). Reflexes with the same valence as an ongoing emotional state are augmented; mismatched reflexes are inhibited. Thus, the startle response (an aversive reflex) is enhanced during a fear state and is diminished in a pleasant emotional context. This affect–startle effect is not determined by general arousal, simple attention, or probe modality. The effect is found when affects are prompted by pictures or memory images, changes appropriately with aversive conditioning, and may be dependent on right-hemisphere processing. What qualities lead some Internet videos to reach millions of viewers while others languish in obscurity? This question has been largely unexamined empirically. We addressed this issue by examining the role of emotional response and video source on the likelihood of spreading an Internet video by validating the emotional response to an Internet video and investigating the underlying mechanisms. Results indicated that individuals reporting strong affective responses to a video reported greater intent to spread the video. In terms of the role of the source, anger-producing videos were more likely to be forwarded but only when the source of the video was an out-group member. These results have implications for emotional contagion, social influence, and online behavior.  相似文献

Organic field‐effect transistors (OFETs) are used to investigate the evolution of the solid‐state microstructure of blends of poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6]‐phenyl C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PC61BM) upon annealing. Changes in the measured field‐effect mobility of holes and electrons are shown to reveal relevant information about the phase‐segregation in this system, which are in agreement with a eutectic phase behavior. Using dual‐gate OFETs and in‐situ measurements, it is demonstrated that the spatial‐ and time‐dependence of microstructural changes in such polymer:fullerene blend films can also be probed. A percolation‐theory‐based simulation is carried out to illustrate how phase‐segregation in this system is expected to lead to a substantial decrease in the electron conductivity in an OFET channel, in qualitative agreement with experimental results.  相似文献

We show how we use the Deforming-Spatial-Domain/Stabilized Space–Time (DSD/SST) formulation for accurate 3D computation of the aerodynamics of a wind-turbine rotor. As the test case, we use the NREL 5MW offshore baseline wind-turbine rotor. This class of computational problems are rather challenging, because they involve large Reynolds numbers and rotating turbulent flows, and computing the correct torque requires an accurate and meticulous numerical approach. We compute the problem with both the original version of the DSD/SST formulation and a recently introduced version with an advanced turbulence model. The DSD/SST formulation with the advanced turbulence model is a space–time version of the residual-based variational multiscale method. We compare our results to those reported recently, which were obtained with the residual-based variational multiscale Arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian method using NURBS for spatial discretization and which we take as the reference solution. While the original DSD/SST formulation yields torque values not far from the reference solution, the DSD/SST formulation with the variational multiscale turbulence model yields torque values very close to the reference solution.  相似文献
