Three hydroxyapatite powders with different surface properties were produced by wet-chemical synthesis and characterized. The electrokinetic properties of powders dispersed in water were investigated by electroacoustic spectroscopy measurements. The different surface reactivity (pHiep and ζ potential versus pH curves) was related to the interplay of dissolution and adsorption of Ca2+ ions. With a view toward the preparation of porous bodies by sponge impregnation, the behavior of powder suspensions was studied. Four deflocculants were tested, and the optimum dispersing conditions for each powder were found. Anionic polyelectrolytes resulted in the best effective dispersing agent, with different optimum amounts added to the suspensions.  相似文献

Outbreaks of locusts cause enormous economic losses to agriculture in many countries. To develop environmentally friendly strategies for their control, much research has been focused on the factors that influence locust biology, particularly infochemical‐mediated interactions. We present herein the identification and synthesis of both Z and E isomers of phytal (3,7,11,15‐tetramethylhexadec‐2‐enal, 1 ), which are involved in chemical communication and behaviour of the Moroccan locust, Dociostaurus maroccanus, a serious agricultural pest. The compound was identified by comparison of its chromatographic and spectrometric features and microchemical reactions with those of a synthetic sample. The natural compound was shown to have the R,R configuration by chiral HPLC analysis, and its structure is unique as an insect pheromone component. Both isomers of phytal are produced by sexually mature adult males and elicit electroantennographic responses in antennae of both sexes. In two‐choice olfactometer bioassays, males and females significantly preferred the stream enriched with racemic phytal to the control. In contrast, hydrogenated phytal was behaviourally inert. Both isomers of phytal are specific to D. maroccanus as they are absent in the closely related, habitat‐sharing species Dociostaurus jagoi and Calliptamus wattenwylianus. Legs and wings are the main release sites of the compound: approximately 90 % of that emitted by living individuals. In biosynthetic studies, phytal appears to proceed from oxidation of phytol ( 2 ) after injection of deuterated phytol into the abdomen of the insect or after administration in the diet. Our results demonstrate that phytal is a candidate sex pheromone component of the Moroccan locust; it is produced by mature males, and might be eavesdropped upon by conspecific males.  相似文献

Modifications produced on a vulcanized styrene –butadiene rubber surface by treatment with sulfuric acid were studied and several experimental variables were considered.

The treatment of R1 rubber with sulfuric acid produced a noticeable decrease in contact angle which was mainly ascribed to an increase in surface energy due to the formation of sulfonic acid moieties and C?O bonds, and the removal of zinc stearate. The rubber surface swelled and became brittle as a result of the treatment, and when flexed microcracks were created. A rubber surface layer modification was produced with a consequent decrease in tensile strength and elongation-at-break values. The treatment enhanced the T-peel strength of R1 rubber/polyurethane adhesive joints and the locus of failure was cohesive in the rubber.

The optimum immersion time in H2SO4 solution was less than 1 min., and the reaction time in air was not found to be critical; the neutralization with ammonium hydroxide and the high concentration of the sulfuric acid (95 wt%) were essential to produce adequate effectiveness of the treatment.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The applicability of biosorption for the treatment of metal plating wastewater is adversely affected by the presence of complexing agents. To investigate this limitation on the removal of copper(II) onto peat, batch and column experiments were carried out using EDTA as the model complexing agent. The influence of pH and copper(II):EDTA mass ratios were evaluated for copper(II) concentrations between 5 and 100 mg Cu(II) dm?3. RESULTS: EDTA negatively affected the copper(II) uptake of peat for pH > 5. Batch and column experiments showed that copper(II)‐EDTA complexes were not sorbed by peat. The leaks of copper(II) detected from the beginning of the column operation matched the copper(II)‐EDTA concentration in the feed solutions. To overcome the interference of EDTA, a novel approach based on the combination of peat + activated carbon was proposed. Nearly complete removal of copper(II) was maintained over 70 h in the treatment of a solution containing 20 mg Cu(II) dm?3 with 11% of copper(II)‐EDTA complexes. CONCLUSION: A new mass transport model coupling copper(II) speciation in the feed and mass transfer rate‐controlled process simulated the copper(II) breakthrough curves in the presence of EDTA and could be used to successfully predict the breakthrough point. This work demonstrated that biosorption can also be applied for the treatment of wastewater containing complexing agents with the proper combination of sorbent materials. © 2012 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The drying of carrot particles (6 mm × 6 mm × 12 mm) was studied in a tunnel dryer; a vacuum-freeze dryer, either with or without infrared radiation; a pulsed fluidized-bed dryer assisted by microwave radiation; and combinations of these methods. The effect of two freezing rates (quick freezing in liquid nitrogen and slow freezing in a household freezer) was also studied.

The drying kinetics for these drying methods were determined and modeled, and the dried products were subjected to texture (hardness), color, and rehydration analysis, as well as 2D and 3D image analysis of pictures from scanning electron microscope.

The combination of freeze drying with other dehydration techniques reduces the drying time by 6–70%, although, in general, the structural damage increases with respect to freeze drying alone. The hybrid drying systems did not show significant differences in drying times either for quick- or slow-frozen samples. The combination of freeze drying followed by conventional drying reduces the drying time between 23 and 40% on average.

The Page empirical model represents adequately the entire drying process for combined methods, with specific parameters for each drying zone. The values of effective diffusivity calculated with the simplified constant diffusivity model agree with those reported in the literature.  相似文献

The drying curves of halved and deseeded apricots obtained during convective drying at different temperatures (from 50 to 90°C) have been examined, and a diffusional model, solved by a finite elements method, has been proposed to simulate the drying kinetics. The importance of taking into account both the internal and the external resistances to mass transfer when modeling the drying curves is discussed. Due to the geometry of halved apricots as a hemisphere losing water only through the flat section, the mass transfer coefficient (kc) was not correctly estimated through an empirical correlation. Only the identification of this coefficient from the experimental results allowed an accurate simulation, decreasing the mean relative error from 12.3±3.8% when kc was calculated through the Pasternak and Gauvin correlation to 2.9±1.0% when kc was identified.  相似文献

Two ultrafiltration membranes with different geometries (spiral polymeric and tubular ceramic) but similar cutoffs were used to treat wastewater from a food industry. Hydrodynamic conditions were optimized by statistical methods as a strategy to get more accurate values of the critical parameters and then to produce higher water flux and minimization of membrane fouling. The validation of the optimization method was obtained by experimental critical flux determination at critical parameters. Membrane fluxes revealed significant differences during filtration. The polymeric membrane showed an optimal flux of 45.60 Lh?1 m?2 at 3.21 bar while operating at a stable time of 11.61 h, whereas optimal flux of the ceramic membrane was 32.43 Lh?1 m?2 at 3.98 bar for 16.03 h. Experimental critical flux values were only slightly lower than optimal fluxes for both membranes, showing the validity of the statistics models applied. Negligible osmotic pressure was found on the two membranes at critical flux parameters, indicating irreversible fouling for both cases. The polymeric membrane revealed strong fouling behavior and the ceramic membrane showed a weak form; the flux decline occurred first in the polymeric membrane, whereas the ceramic membrane exhibited high stability during the filtration operations. A high degree of purification of wastewater was obtained by this membrane at critical flux conditions.  相似文献

The aim of this work was to obtain propolis in a powder, alcohol-free, water-dispersed and shelf-stable form. Propolis extract was spray-dried using gum Arabic and octenyl succinic anhydride (OSA) starch as carriers in two different weight ratios (1:4 and 1:6). Spray-dried propolis samples were evaluated for morphology, moisture, water activity, water dispersibility, hygroscopicity, particle size, particle distribution, entrapping efficiency, stability, isotherms and antioxidant properties. The spray-drying process produced round particles with sizes ranging from 15 to 24 μm. This process preserved the antioxidant activity of propolis and also allowed propolis to be obtained in a powder form, which was stable during storage at room temperature, had low hygroscopicity and was highly dispersible in cold water. The application of this technology could increase the use of propolis in various industrial applications, such as an antimicrobial and as an antioxidant in food.  相似文献
