Two general integral inequalities and their applications to stability analysis for systems with time‐varying delay

Integral inequalities have been widely used in stability analysis for systems with time‐varying delay because they directly produce bounds for integral terms with respect to quadratic functions. This paper presents two general integral inequalities from which almost all of the existing integral inequalities can be obtained, such as Jensen inequality, the Wirtinger‐based inequality, the Bessel–Legendre inequality, the Wirtinger‐based double integral inequality, and the auxiliary function‐based integral inequalities. Based on orthogonal polynomials defined in different inner spaces, various concrete single/multiple integral inequalities are obtained. They can produce more accurate bounds with more orthogonal polynomials considered. To show the effectiveness of the new inequalities, their applications to stability analysis for systems with time‐varying delay are demonstrated with two numerical examples. Annular ring slot antenna design with reconfigurable polarization

A microstrip‐fed conventional annular ring slot (ARS) antenna with linear polarization (LP) is initially studied. To generate two orthogonal degenerate modes for circular polarization (CP) radiations, two identical meandering perturbation slots (MPS) are symmetrically loaded into the ARS. By further incorporating a PIN diode switch across each MPS, the proposed antenna can switch between left‐hand CP (LHCP), right‐hand CP (RHCP), and LP. All three polarizations have shown good impedance bandwidth and broad CP bandwidth that can satisfy the wireless local area network (WLAN) 2.4‐GHz operating band (2400–2480 MHz). Furthermore, desirable gains of 1.8–2.0 dBi and 2.40–2.84 dBic are also exhibited at LP and LHCP/RHCP, respectively. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 26:110–120, 2016.     

An SNN-Based Semantic Role Labeling Model with Its Network Parameters Optimized Using an Improved PSO Algorithm

Semantic role labeling (SRL) is a fundamental task in natural language processing to find a sentence-level semantic representation. The semantic role labeling procedure can be viewed as a process of competition between many order parameters, in which the strongest order parameter will win by competition and the desired pattern will be recognized. To realize the above-mentioned integrative SRL, we use synergetic neural network (SNN). Since the network parameters of SNN directly influence the synergetic recognition performance, it is important to optimize the parameters. In this paper, we propose an improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm based on log-linear model and use it to effectively determine the network parameters. Our contributions are two-folds: firstly, a log-linear model is introduced to PSO algorithm which can effectively make use of the advantages of a variety of different knowledge sources, and enhance the decision making ability of the model. Secondly, we propose an improved SNN model based on the improved PSO and show its effectiveness in the SRL task. The experimental results show that the proposed model has a higher performance for semantic role labeling with more powerful global exploration ability and faster convergence speed, and indicate that the proposed model has a promising future for other natural language processing tasks.
