Synaptophysin, or p38, a polypeptide of molecular weight 38 kD, is a calcium-binding membrane protein found in synaptic vesicles of neurons and smooth surfaced vesicles of neuroendocrine cells. Six human neonatal and infant temporal bones were fixed in paraformaldehyde and glutaraldehyde, decalcified in EDTA and were than immunoreacted for synaptophysin (ICN Biomedicals) using the avidin-biotin reaction (ABC kit, Vector Labs). The tissue was then prepared for light microscopic surface preparation, radial sections of 5 microns, and serial section electron microscopy. At a light microscopic level, the inner spiral bundle, tunnel spiral bundle, upper tunnel crossing fibers and the base of outer hair cells were stained. At the base of outer hair cells, the immunoreactivity was seen to decrease from the base to the apex and from the first to third outer hair cells. At an electron microscopic level, immunoreactivity at the base of outer hair cells was limited to vesiculated efferent fibers. The degree of immunoreactivity between adjacent efferent fibers varied significantly. Immunoreactive vesiculated endings were also found in the supranuclear region of outer hair cells.  相似文献

Single period modulation-doped structures composed of an AlxGa1?xAs layer, part of which is doped with Si, on top of an undoped GaAs layer have been grown by molecular beam epitaxy. The films were characterised using Hall effect measurements carried out at temperatures between 10 and 300 K. With 50?75 ? thick undoped (Al, Ga)As layers near the interface, mobilities in excess of 115000 cm2/Vs at 10 K and 7450 cm2/Vs at 300 K have been achieved for an average doping concentration of ?5×1016 cm?3. These are some of the highest mobilities as yet obtained from modulation-doped structures, and represent an increase in mobility over equivalently doped GaAs by about a factor of 20 at 10 K and by a factor of 2 at 300 K.  相似文献

Summary The complex formed between copper(II) and a polymeric ligand derived from poly-N5-(3-hydroxypropyl)-l-glutamine (PHPG) has been investigated by circular dichroism. It was found that the confonnational changes of PHPG occurred by forming complexes with Cu(II) according to the Cu/HPG molar ratios and different pH values. The helical structure was induced in PHPG by bound Cu(II) at Cu/peptide ratios< 1/16, while the structure changed from -helix to the random coil and -form at Cu/peptide ratios >1/16. It was also found that complex formation between Gu(II) and PHPG occurred above pH 9.5.  相似文献

Temperature-dependent measurements from 25 to 125°C have been made of the DC I-V characteristics of HBTs with GaAs and In0.53Ga0.47As collector regions. It was found that the GaAs HBTs have very low output conductance and high collector breakdown voltage BVCEO>10 V at 25°C, which increases with temperature. In striking contrast, the In0.53Ga0.47As HBTs have very high output conductance and low BVCEO~2.5 V at 25°C, which actually decreases with temperature. This different behavior is explained by the >104 higher collector leakage current, ICO, in In0.53Ga0.47As compared to GaAs due to bandgap differences. To reduce complexities in robot dynamics, a mechanical counter-balancing concept based on the theory of adding balancing masses to unbalanced conventional manipulators is introduced. The effects of balancing on the dynamic characteristics of the PUMA-760 robot when the designed counter-balancing mechanism is applied to the robot are examined. Through theoretical and experimental study many distinct advantages such as simplicity in the dynamic equation and significant reduction in the total required input torques are demonstrated for various manipulator speeds and payload conditions. Based on these results, the dynamic characteristics of the balanced PUMA-760 robot are discussed in detail  相似文献

Absolute and relative quantities of elastin, collagen, and DNA in anatomically defined segments of rabbit ascending aorta (AA) and pulmonary trunk (PT) were compared at intervals from birth to 2 months of age. Identical in size, weight, and composition at birth, the vessels maintained similar lengths and diameters at each age but diverged markedly in weight and scleroprotein content after 1 week. By 2 months, 3 times as much elastin and 1.7 times as much collagen had accumulated in the AA as compared to the PT. By contrast, the increase in total DNA content was the same for both segments. Differences in total fibrous protein accumulation, total elastin accumulation, and elastin content relative to DNA paralleled differences in estimated total medial tangential tension. Proportions of elastin and collagen relative to dry weight increased markedly only between 4 and 2 weeks of age and not thereafter despite continuing rapid growth, steadily increasing medial tension, and increasing total scleroprotein content. Thus, medial cells were capable of adapting their quantitative scleroprotein synthetic response to differences in medial tension throughout growth but established a fixed qualitative response within 2 weeks.  相似文献

High electric fields in the channel of InGaAs-InAlAs heterostructure complementary charge injection transistor give rise to impact ionization and real-space transfer of minority holes from the channel. These phenomena are investigated by measuring light emission in the 1.1-3.1 eV energy range for different points on the electrical characteristics. Recent studies of wafer temperature control in rapid thermal processing systems have indicated that a multiring circularly symmetric lamp configuration with independent (multivariable) control of the power applied to each ring is likely to be more successful than the earlier lamp design approaches. An important issue in such multiring lamp systems is the optimal shaping of the output heat flux profile (HFP) of each ring to provide maximum controllability of the wafer temperature. In this paper we seek to optimize the ring HFP's via the lamp design parameters: ring positions and widths. We start by determining the heat loss profiles over the wafer surface for a variety of temperature setpoints and processing conditions. In order to maintain temperature uniformity across the wafer at a given setpoint, the lamp system should provide a compensating HFP. The total lamp HFP is the sum of the individual ring HFPs weighted by their respective applied powers. The HFP's are, in turn, functionally dependent on the lamp design parameters and this dependence can be measured through a calibration process. Therefore, the resulting optimization problem reduces to determining the lamp design parameters that result in lamp HFP's which best approximates the collection of the wafer heat loss profiles. Insular neurons responsive to baroreceptor challenge have been identified in the rat, but not previously in primates. Characterization of baroreceptor-related neurons was performed in 15 anesthetized monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) using extracellular single-unit recording techniques. 131 units were investigated within the insula and surrounding regions. Based on their responses to phenylephrine hydrochloride (PE) and sodium nitroprusside (SNP), three types of units were distinguished: 35/131 (27%) sympathoexcitatory (SE), 12/131 (9%) sympathoinhibitory (SI) and 84 (64%) null units. More baroreceptive units were found within the insula (38/73, 52%) than in surrounding areas (9/58, 16%) (p < 0.001). Lateralization was indicated with more baroreceptive units being encountered within the right insula (28/44, 64%) than the left (10/29, 34%) (p = 0.02). The majority of the responsive units were located within the dysgranular and granular insula in layers II, III and V/VI. These data suggest that cardiovascular representation may occur in the primate insula as has been shown in other species.  相似文献
