High-caloric diet and physical inactivity predispose individuals to obesity and diabetes, which are risk factors of hippocampal neurodegeneration and cognitive deficits. Along with the adipose-hippocampus crosstalk, chronically inflamed adipose tissue secretes inflammatory cytokine could trigger neuroinflammatory responses in the hippocampus, and in turn, impairs hippocampal neuroplasticity under obese and diabetic conditions. Hence, caloric restriction and physical exercise are critical non-pharmacological interventions to halt the pathogenesis from obesity to hippocampal neurodegeneration. In response to physical exercise, peripheral organs, including the adipose tissue, skeletal muscles, and liver, can secret numerous exerkines, which bring beneficial effects to metabolic and brain health. In this review, we summarized how chronic inflammation in adipose tissue could trigger neuroinflammation and hippocampal impairment, which potentially contribute to cognitive deficits in obese and diabetic conditions. We also discussed the potential mechanisms underlying the neurotrophic and neuroprotective effects of caloric restriction and physical exercise by counteracting neuroinflammation, plasticity deficits, and cognitive impairments. This review provides timely insights into how chronic metabolic disorders, like obesity, could impair brain health and cognitive functions in later life. 相似文献

Introduction Home hemodialysis has not been widely adopted despite superior outcomes relative to conventional in‐center hemodialysis. Patients receiving home hemodialysis experience high rates of technique failure owing to machine complexity, training burden, and the inability to master treatments independently. Methods We conducted human factors testing on 15 health care professionals (HCPs) and 15 patients upon release of the defined training program on the Tablo? Hemodialysis System. Each participant completed one training and one testing session conducted in a simulated clinical environment. Training sessions lasted <3 hours for HCPs and <4 hours for patients, with an hour break between sessions for knowledge decay. During the testing session, we recorded participant behavior and data according to standard performance and safety‐based criteria. Findings Of 15 HCPs, 10 were registered nurses and five patient care technicians, with a broad range of dialysis work experience and no limitations other than visual correction. Of 15 patients (average age 48 years), 13 reported no limitations and two reported modest limitations—partial deafness and blindness in one eye, respectively. The average error rate was 4.4 per session for HCPs and 2.9 per session for patients out of a total possible 1,710 opportunities for errors. Despite having received minimal training, neither HCPs nor patients committed safety‐related errors that required mitigation; rather, we noted only minor errors and operational difficulties. Discussion The Tablo? Hemodialysis System is easy to use, and may help to enable self‐care and home hemodialysis in settings heretofore associated with high rates of technique failure. 相似文献

In this paper, a numerical investigation is conducted to study the formation and dissolution process of CO2 bubbles within silicone oil in a cross-junction microchannel. A coupled multiphase–multicomponent computational fluid dynamics model based on the volume-of-fluid method is used, which is able to capture the physics of the multiphase bubble formation, dissolution mass transfer, and the tracking of the dissolved CO2 species. The computational model is firstly validated with experimental results where good agreement is attained. Next, the model is used to investigate the bubble formation process at the cross-junction in the presence of dissolution and also the bubble evolution as it is transported along the downstream channel. It is revealed that during bubble formation, there is a high concentration of CO2 solute around the cross-junction walls, as silicone oil flow to this region is minimal. As the CO2 bubble travels downstream, the transport of the CO2 solute is largely driven by the local flow currents of the silicone oil within the vicinity of the bubble. An extensive parametric study is also conducted, looking at the effects of varying the surface tension, diffusion coefficient and flow rates. The results demonstrate that the initial CO2 bubble length and period of bubble formation are most affected by the flow rate, while the mass transfer is most strongly governed by the diffusion coefficient. 相似文献

The Taguchi method has been successfully applied in engineering fields to deal with a single performance quality problem, but it is not often used in interface design and the handling of multiple performance quality problems. This study investigated a multi-response problem in terms of searching time, number of missing characters/buttons (NMCB), and visual fatigue by integrating the Taguchi method and the weighting method to optimize the Chinese interface design parameters such as display type, character size, font type, and text/background color combination in motion environments. The results indicated that subjects’ visual performance was improved when using the optimum interface setting (LCD, 7.5 * 7.5 mm, Kai font and white/blue color combination) rather than the current interface setting. 相似文献

Communication‐minded visualizations are designed to provide their audience—managers, decision‐makers, and the public—with new knowledge. Authoring such visualizations effectively is challenging because the audience often lacks the expertise, context, and time that professional analysts have at their disposal to explore and understand datasets. We present a novel summarized line graph visualization technique designed specifically for data analysts to communicate data to decision‐makers more effectively and efficiently. Our summarized line graph reduces a large and detailed dataset of multiple quantitative time‐series into (1) representative data that provides a quick takeaway of the full dataset; (2) analytical highlights that distinguish specific insights of interest; and (3) a data envelope that summarizes the remaining aggregated data. Our summarized line graph achieved the best overall results when evaluated against line graphs, band graphs, stream graphs, and horizon graphs on four representative tasks. 相似文献

ones, and their combination. Based on the classification, the characteristics of the currently popular index based homology
search algorithms are compared and analyzed. At the same time, several promising and new index techniques are also discussed.
As a whole, the paper provides a survey on index based homology search algorithms.

This paper considers the control wafers safety inventory problem (CWSIP) in the wafer fabrication photolithography area. The objective is to minimize the total cost of control wafers, where the cost includes new wafers cost, re-entrant cost and holding cost while maintaining the same level of production throughput. For the problem under pulling control production environment, a nonlinear programming model is presented to set safety inventory levels so as to minimize total cost of control wafers. A numerical example is given to illustrate the practicality of the model. The results demonstrate that the proposed model is an effective tool for determining the service level of safety inventory of control wafers for each grade. 相似文献

Electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy (ECSTM) has been used to examine the adlayer of octa-alkoxy-substituted copper(II) phthalocyanines (CuPc(OC(8)H(17))(8)) on Au(111) in 0.1 M HClO(4), where the molecular adlayer was prepared by spontaneous adsorption from a benzene solution containing this molecule. Topography STM scans revealed long-range ordered, interweaved arrays of CuPc(OC(8)H(17))(8) with coexistent rectangular and hexagonal symmetries. High-quality STM molecular resolution yielded the internal molecular structure and the orientation of CuPc(OC(8)H(17))(8) admolecules. These STM results could shed insight into the method of generating ordered molecular assemblies of phthalocyanine molecules with long-chained substitutes on metal surface. 相似文献

Young children are introduced to mobile technology at an early age, with many using touchscreens daily. One appeal of touchscreen technology is that it seems to be intuitive for very young children. As a result, many children's e-books are designed for tablets rather than for e-readers or computers. E-books often contain hotspots—interactive areas children can press to receive immediate auditory or visual feedback. This study assessed whether children's (N = 76, aged 3–5 years) interactions with hotspots increased their engagement with reading when using an e-book independently and how such interactions were related to their learning from the story. Our results suggested that interacting with hotspots enhanced children's emotional engagement and sustained visual attention but not verbal engagement. Interacting with hotspots also benefited children's recall of story elements relevant to the hotspot but not their overall comprehension of the story. These findings inform the design and use of touchscreen media in early childhood. 相似文献
