Influence of tool path strategy on the cycle time of high-speed milling   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
This work at first look discusses the influence of the tool path strategy on the cycle time of high-speed milling operations. Experiments and predictions were focused on pocketing operations with a zig-zag tool path, quantifying the significant discrepancy between the programmed feed rate and the actual average feed rate. A mechanistic approach for cycle time evaluation is proposed. The mechanistic model construction is based on the experimental measurement of the machine tool acceleration and specific geometric assumptions regarding tool motion. For high feed rates, the proposed approach is capable of capturing the influence of the zig-zag tool path orientation on the machining cycle time.  相似文献

Different functional states determine glioblastoma (GBM) heterogeneity. Brain cancer cells coexist with the glial cells in a functional syncytium based on a continuous metabolic rewiring. However, standard glioma therapies do not account for the effects of the glial cells within the tumor microenvironment. This may be a possible reason for the lack of improvements in patients with high-grade gliomas therapies. Cell metabolism and bioenergetic fitness depend on the availability of nutrients and interactions in the microenvironment. It is strictly related to the cell location in the tumor mass, proximity to blood vessels, biochemical gradients, and tumor evolution, underlying the influence of the context and the timeline in anti-tumor therapeutic approaches. Besides the cancer metabolic strategies, here we review the modifications found in the GBM-associated glia, focusing on morphological, molecular, and metabolic features. We propose to analyze the GBM metabolic rewiring processes from a systems biology perspective. We aim at defining the crosstalk between GBM and the glial cells as modules. The complex networking may be expressed by metabolic modules corresponding to the GBM growth and spreading phases. Variation in the oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) rate and regulation appears to be the most important part of the metabolic and functional heterogeneity, correlating with glycolysis and response to hypoxia. Integrated metabolic modules along with molecular and morphological features could allow the identification of key factors for controlling the GBM-stroma metabolism in multi-targeted, time-dependent therapies.  相似文献

We report on a data-driven investigation aimed at understanding the dynamics of message spreading in a real-world dynamical network of human proximity. We use data collected by means of a proximity-sensing network of wearable sensors that we deployed at three different social gatherings, simultaneously involving several hundred individuals. We simulate a message spreading process over the recorded proximity network, focusing on both the topological and the temporal properties. We show that by using an appropriate technique to deal with the temporal heterogeneity of proximity events, a universal statistical pattern emerges for the delivery times of messages, robust across all the data sets. Our results are useful to set constraints for generic processes of data dissemination, as well as to validate established models of human mobility and proximity that are frequently used to simulate realistic behaviors.  相似文献

Candida tropicalis is an emergent pathogen with a high rate of mortality associated with it; however, less is known about its pathogenic capacity. Biofilm formation (BF) has important clinical repercussions, and it begins with adherence to a substrate. The adherence capacity depends principally on the cell surface hydrophobicity (CSH) and, at a later stage, on specific adherence due to adhesins. The ALS family in C. tropicalis, implicated in adhesion and BF, is represented in several CTRG genes. In this study, we determined the biofilm-forming ability, the primary adherence, and the CSH of C. tropicalis, including six isolates from blood and seven from urine cultures. We also compared the expression of four CTRG ALS-like genes (CTRG_01028, CTRG_02293, CTRG_03786, and CTRG_03797) in sessile versus planktonic cells, selected for their possible contribution to BF. All the C. tropicalis strains were biofilm producers, related to its filamentation capacity; all the strains displayed a high adherence ability correlated to the CSH, and all the strains expressed the CTRG genes in both types of growth. Urine isolates present, although not significantly, higher CSH, adherence, and biofilm formation than blood isolates. This study reveals that three CTRG ALS-like genes—except CTRG_03797—were more upregulated in biofilm cells, although with a considerable variation in expression across the strains studied and between the CTRG genes. C. tropicalis present a high biofilm capacity, and the overexpression of several CTRG ALS-like genes in the sessile cells suggests a role by the course of the biofilm formation.  相似文献

The coronary stent fabrication requires a high-precision profile cut. Fibre lasers present a solution to accomplish these requirements. This paper presents an experimental study of fibre laser cutting of 316L stainless steel thin sheets. The effect of peak pulse power, pulse frequency and cutting speed on the cutting quality for fixed gas type and gas pressure was investigated. A mathematical model based on energy balances for the dross dimensions was formulated. The dross height and the dross diameter were analysed and compared with the experimental results. This allows adjustment of the process parameters to reduce the dimensions of the dross deposited at the bottom of the workpiece during laser cutting of thin sheets.  相似文献

This paper deals with milling sound information. In milling operations, cutting edge impacts excite vibrations due to the interaction between the cutter and the workpiece, and because of the system's lack of dynamic stiffness. It is possible to distinguish between free, forced and self-excited vibrations. During a milling operation these three different types of mechanical vibrations propagate through air and generate a sound that intrinsically contains information about the process.A sound map is a graphical sound-level representation of a certain zone or region that is divided into points by means of a mesh. Sound maps have typically been used with social considerations in mind: to determine, for instance, noise levels in cities. The goal of this paper is to determine the stability lobe diagram (SLD) of a milling process by applying sound mapping methodology. Stability lobe diagrams show the stability frontier as combinations of spindle speeds (i.e. the abscissas axis) and radial depths of cut (i.e. the ordinate axis). In this investigation the SLD was obtained from a mesh of 30 spindle speeds per 20 axial depths of cut, resulting in a total of 600 experiments. A data acquisition platform was developed to collect the milling process sound through a microphone placed inside the machine-tool enclosure. Data were analysed off-line in order to recognise chatter frequencies.A 3D sound map was built by plotting, on each corresponding point of the mesh described above, the sound amplitude at frequencies around chatter frequency. The difference between stable and unstable zones is shown. This is the stability lobe diagram. The extensive experimentation detailed in this work reasserts and confirms the current state of knowledge of the chatter phenomenon.  相似文献
