A Monte Carlo computer simulation model for the electrophoretic deposition of polymer chains on a discrete lattice is used to study the polymer density profile, interface growth, and its dependence on field, temperature, and molecular weight. The interface width (W) decreases WE−1/2 on increasing the field (E). Width (W) depends non-monotonically on the temperature (T): a power-law decay is followed by a power-law increase on raising the temperature. Monotonic decay of the interface width with the molecular weight is possibly a stretched exponential. Conformation and dynamics of a tracer chain is used to probe its characteristics in interface to bulk region. The root mean square (rms) displacement of the center of mass of the tracer chain shows an ultra-slow motion, Rtν (ν0.1–0.01 at E=0.1–1.0) as the driven chain moves deeper from interface to bulk. Longitudinal compression of the radius of gyration (Rg) of the chain increases with the field; transverse components (Rgx, Rgy) are larger than the longitudinal component (Rgz). The transverse component (Rgx(y)) becomes oscillatory due to periodic squeezing at high fields as the field competes with the polymer barriers.  相似文献

The effect of weld groove design and heat treatment on microstructure evolution and Charpy toughness of P91 pipe weldments was studied. The P91 pipe weldments were subjected to subcritical post weld heat treatment (760 °C-2 h) and normalizing/tempering conditions (normalized-1040 °C/40 min, air cooled; tempered 760 °C/2 h, air cooled) were employed. The influence of subsequent PWHT and N&T treatment on the microstructure of various zone of P91 pipe weldments were also investigated. The present investigation also described the effect of PWHT and N&T treatment on hardness, grain size, precipitate size, inter-particle spacing and fraction area of precipitates present in each zone of P91 pipe weldments. The result indicated great impact of heat treatment on the Charpy toughness and microstructure evolution of P91 weldments. The N&T treatment was found to be more effective heat treatment compared to subsequent PWHT. Charpy toughness value was found to be higher for narrow-groove design as compared to conventional V-groove design.  相似文献

This paper reports the catalytic effects of mischmetal (Mm) and mischmetal oxide (Mm-oxide) on improving the dehydrogenation and rehydrogenation behaviour of magnesium hydride (MgH2). It has been found that 5 wt.% is the optimum catalyst (Mm/Mm-oxide) concentration for MgH2. The Mm and Mm-oxide catalyzed MgH2 exhibits hydrogen desorption at significantly lower temperature and also fast rehydrogenation kinetics compared to ball-milled MgH2 under identical conditions of temperature and pressure. The onset desorption temperature for MgH2 catalyzed with Mm and Mm-oxide are 323 °C and 305 °C, respectively. Whereas the onset desorption temperature for the ball-milled MgH2 is 381 °C. Thus, there is a lowering of onset desorption temperature by 58 °C for Mm and by 76 °C for Mm-oxide. The dehydrogenation activation energy of Mm-oxide catalyzed MgH2 is 66 kJ/mol. It is 35 kJ/mol lower than ball-milled MgH2. Additionally, the Mm-oxide catalyzed dehydrogenated Mg exhibits faster rehydrogenation kinetics. It has been noticed that in the first 10 min, the Mm-oxide catalyzed Mg (dehydrogenated MgH2) has absorbed up to 4.75 wt.% H2 at 315 °C under 15 atmosphere hydrogen pressure. The activation energy determined for the rehydrogenation of Mm-oxide catalyzed Mg is ∼62 kJ/mol, whereas that for the ball-milled Mg alone is ∼91 kJ/mol. Thus, there is a decrease in absorption activation energy by ∼29 kJ/mol for the Mm-oxide catalyzed Mg. In addition, Mm-oxide is the native mixture of CeO2 and La2O3 which makes the duo a better catalyst than CeO2, which is known to be an effective catalyst for MgH2. This takes place due to the synergistic effect of CeO2 and La2O3. It can thus be said that Mm-oxide is an effective catalyst for improving the hydrogen sorption behaviour of MgH2.  相似文献

In a grave illness the homeostasis of some elements may be upset either by the disease process per se, or by the therapy adopted. Patients with pyogenic, viral and tubercular meningo-encephalitis were targets of interest. 108 subjects' serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) compartments were assayed for magnesium, calcium, zinc and copper, by atomic absorption spectrometry. Results showed that the serum pool was more intensely altered than the CSF pool in the case of magnesium and calcium but the reverse occurred for zinc and copper. No organism-dependent change was noted, but comatosed patients were the worst effected. These findings are discussed with respect to the relative brain and CSF content of each element and the patho-physiology which could alter the compartments studied.  相似文献

Rainfall is one of the most significant parameters in a hydrological model. Several models have been developed to analyze and predict the rainfall forecast. In recent years, wavelet techniques have been widely applied to various water resources research because of their time-frequency representation. In this paper an attempt has been made to find an alternative method for rainfall prediction by combining the wavelet technique with Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The wavelet and ANN models have been applied to monthly rainfall data of Darjeeling rain gauge station. The calibration and validation performance of the models is evaluated with appropriate statistical methods. The results of monthly rainfall series modeling indicate that the performances of wavelet neural network models are more effective than the ANN models.  相似文献

The aim of the present work is to get an insight of the phenomena behind the low-pressure low-power transients that occur during startup of a natural circulation boiling system. A RELAP5 model developed for a test facility and its prototype is used to record additional system parameters that were not included in the data obtained from experiments. The flow oscillations observed during experimental and numerical studies are analyzed and classified. It is inferred that the low amplitude oscillations are not condensation induced geysering instabilities, but a density wave instability supported by flashing. The similarity between the nature of startup transients observed in the test facility and the prototype is also examined. The effect of flashing is more pronounced in the prototype due to the strong variation of saturation temperature as the length scale is 4 times that of the model. The time series data obtained from experimental observations and numerical simulations are analyzed to identify the structural nature of flow oscillations. The power spectral density estimated using fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm illustrates the chaotic nature of the signals. The nonlinear time series analysis (TISEAN) package has been used for the estimation of Lyapunov exponent and the Poincaré section. The Poincaré section and the Lyapunov exponent confirm the chaotic nature of the flow oscillations.  相似文献
