With specially shaped samples it is possible to study the stress-strain relation σ(γ) in simple shear up to large shear deformation γ. Measurements of σ(γ) on synthetic polyisoprene, IR 305, differently crosslinked with dicumylperoxide, are reported and compared with those for uniaxial extension on the same materials. Using the simple deformation geometry including shearbands proposed in the meander model (1), both stress-strain relations can be converted into each other. These results favor the applied superstructural model and moreover show that the deformation behavior of rubbers is governed by one material law, σ(γ). 相似文献

The monohydroperoxides of methyl palmitate oxidized at 150C were concentrated, purified, and reduced to yield a mixture of
isomers of monohydroxy palmitate. No evidence of unsaturation in these molecules could be obtained, and no direct method for
the resolution or identification of the individual isomers was found. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy of the
reduced esters suggested that the hydroxy groups were not located at either end of the chain of the fatty ester.
To establish the location of the initial oxidative attack on saturated esters, the reduced esters of oxidized methyl palmitate
were chemically cleaved at the location of the hydroxy group by means of chromium trioxide oxidation and by the Beckmann transformation.
The resulting mono- and dibasic fatty acids were methylated and analyzed by gas chromatography. This analysis indicated that
the oxidation of methyl palmitate did not occur selectively at one location along the ester. Although all carbon atoms can
apparently be oxidized, preferential oxidation was observed toward the center of the molecule. 相似文献

Total lipid and phospholipid contents of liver, skin and depot fat from yearling hen turkeys have been studied. Liver lipid
averaged 88.5 mg/g wet tissue; skin, 385.0 and depot fat, 753.5. Phospholipids comprised 32.05% of total lipid of liver, but
only 0.81% of skin and 0.46% of depot fat. Fatty acids of liver differed from those of skin or depot fat by larger amounts
of 16∶0, 18∶0, 20∶4, 22∶0 and 24∶0, and smaller amounts of 16∶1, 18∶1, 18∶2, 18∶3 and 20∶0. Similarity existed between skin
and depot fat.

In the ceramic technology the first step to produce sintered bodies is the manufacturing of powders which then are densified. The adhesion mechanisms between the single particles and the agglomerates produced from them determine the densification process. Starting from theoretical considerations adhesion mechanisms, such as solid bridge formation, adhesive bonding and glide-promoting effects, are discussed in principle. Subsequently, the effects of surface-active substances on the densification behaviour of clay-ceramics and oxide-ceramic bodies are discussed. Further, the evaluation of the action of additives to the powder mixtures on the microstructure of the compacts, such as porsity and texture, leads to a compaction equation which describes the transition from the powder pile to a densified green body. 相似文献

Sodium Aluminium Silicates - Properties and Application Sodium aluminium silicates in amorphous and crystalline form are used since many years in various technical processes. The crystalline sodium aluminium silicates, e. g. zeolites, belong to the group of structured silicates and are known for their reversible water uptake and alkaline earth exchange properties. Recently, sodium aluminium silicates have gained considerable importance since their cation exchanging ability can be utilized in washing agents for the removal of undesirable hardness of water. Thus, the polyphosphates used in washing agents can possibly be substituted. Zeolites can be supplied to the detergent industry in the form of powder or suspension. Production of the powder by spray drying does not involve special problems. Incorporation of the powder into the slurry of the detergent appears to be an anachronism from the viewpoint of energy saving. Optimization work on suspensions of zeolite yielded stable products with 45 to 48% zeolite content. The theory of critical particle concentration was applied in this work. 相似文献

The C-Cl stretching regions of the Raman spectra of a number of samples of PVC prepared by various methods which lead to differences in tacticity, conformational content and crystallinity have been studied. It is shown that the spectra of all samples can be fitted well with a set of nine Lorentzian peaks whose positions and widths are the same for each spectrum. Two of these peaks are attributable to the Ag and B3g species vibrations of crystalline material and the remaining seven may be assigned with reasonable confidence to specific structures in the amorphous regions, three of which are associated with isotactic placements. The area under the Ag and B3g peaks may be used to estimate the crystallinity of the samples and the area under the peaks assigned to isotactic material may be used to estimate the tacticity of the polymer. 相似文献

The use of a pseudo contact shift reagent, (Eu[fod]3), to obtain simplified NMR spectra of a typical long chain monounsaturated fatty acid methyl ester, methyl petroselinate,
is described. Spectra were obtained in which individual methylene groups are identifiable from their splitting patterns. Non-equivalent
splitting patterns were observed for the methine protons with varying amounts of reagent used. The effect of concentration
of the shift reagent on the chemical shift is discussed.

The high-resolution structure of several specific DNA-bindingproteins have been determined, and they display a common structuralmotif which mediates their binding to DNA. This motif consistsof two -helices connected by a sharp turn, and its amino acidsequence has several distinguishing features. A computer searchof the proteins coded by the genome of bacteriophage T7 hasbeen performed in an attempt to identify those proteins thatpotentially contain this motif. Eight proteins were found tohave regions similar to that of the motif. Of these, three arerelatively small, have no known function and are good candidatesfor being DNA-binding regulatory proteins. The results of conversion determinations on the products from Powhatan No.5 coal liquefied in an autoclave and in a high-pressure, high-temperature e.s.r. cavity are reported. Oil, asphaltene and preasphaltene yields, and overall conversion have been determined for Powhatan No.5 coal samples liquefied in tetralin, SRC-11 heavy distillate, and naphthalene at temperatures from 400 to 480 ° C in both reactor systems. The concept of reaction severity is introduced and used to formalize the relation between the effect of temperature and reaction time on oil yield and conversion. Oil is the predominant product in liquefaction in tetralin or naphthalene, asphaltene is the major product of liquefaction in SRC-II heavy distillate. Retrogressive reaction (THF-insoluble product formation) becomes severe when SRC-II heavy distillate is the liquefaction solvent and residence time of >10 min are used at temperatures >450 °C. Preasphaltenes appear to be the only intermediate species in Powhatan No.5 liquefaction. 相似文献
