BACKGROUND: Oxidative absorption of hydrogen sulfide into a solution of ferric chelates is studied in a stirred cell glass reactor. The experiments were performed to investigate the degradation of chelates sodium salt of nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) (Merck), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid diadisodium salt (EDTA) and diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) at 313 K, pH 6, iron concentration 10 000 g L?1 and Fe:chelate molar ratio 1:2. RESULTS: Oxidative absorption of hydrogen sulfide into a solution of Fe‐NTA was found to be more successful, therefore, further experiments with 10%, 50% and 100% concentrations of hydrogen sulfide were performed. It was shown that this process is applicable for removal of low and high concentrations of hydrogen sulfide. The effect of antioxidants using sodium thiosulfate was also studied in order to minimize degradation of NTA. The kinetics were studied and it was observed that the reaction appeared to be first order in ferric chelate with rate constants for 100, 50 and 10% hydrogen sulfide concentration: 0.035, 0.013 and 0.019 h?1, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Gas sweetening processes have commercial importance in natural gases, refinery of gases and biogas processing. Desulphurization and cleaning (i.e. removal of H2S and CO2) of petroleum gas and biogas is important to make the gas methane rich and to increase the calorific value of fuel. The same techniques of desulphurization and cleaning can be used for treating natural gas or petroleum gas. The desulphurization and cleaning processes can minimize the atmospheric emission of gases like SOx, NOx and CO. As the iron chelate based process is based on the principle of redox reaction of metal chelate with hydrogen sulfide, this method is very useful for desulphurization of petroleum gas and biogas. Zinc ferrite (ZnFe2 O4 ) nanoparticles have been synthesized at 700°C using sodium chloride as a growth inhibitor. Single-phase formation of spinel zinc ferrite having crystallite size in the range of 15–20 nm was observed by XRD and confirmed by TEM. In the present work, the gas-sensing properties of these zinc ferrite nanoparticles toward ethanol, LPG, H2 , NO x . SO x , and H2 S have been studied. It was found that they exhibit excellent selective sensitivity toward 200 ppm of H2 S at the operating temperature of 250°C, and thus this nanosized ferrite is expected to be useful in an industrial application as a potential H2 S gas sensor. 相似文献

Machining feature-based similarity assessment algorithms for prismatic machined parts 总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
This paper presents algorithms for identifying machined parts in a database that are similar to a given query part based on machining features. In this paper we only consider parts that are machined on 3-axis machining centers. We utilize reduced feature vectors consisting of machining feature access directions, feature types, feature volumes, feature dimensional tolerances and feature group cardinality as a basis for assessing shape similarity. We have defined a distance function between two sets of reduced feature vectors to assess the similarity between them from the machining effort point of view. To assess the similarity between the two parts, one set of reduced feature vectors is transformed in space using rigid body transformations with respect to the other set such that the distance between them is minimized. The distance between the two sets of aligned reduced feature vectors is used as a measure of similarity between the two parts. The existing machined parts are rank ordered based on the value of the distance with respect to the query part. The cost of previously machined parts that have a very small distance from the query part can be used as a basis for estimating the cost of machining the new part. 相似文献

The increased use of CAD systems by product development organizations has resulted in the creation of large databases of assemblies. This explosion of assembly data is likely to continue in the future. In many situations, a text-based search alone may not be sufficient to search for assemblies and it may be desirable to search for assemblies based on the content of the assembly models. The ability to perform content-based searches on these databases is expected to help the designers in the following two ways. First, it can facilitate the reuse of existing assembly designs, thereby reducing the design time. Second, a lot of useful designs for manufacturing, and assembly knowledge are implicitly embedded in existing assemblies. Therefore a capability to locate existing assemblies and examine them can be used as a learning tool by designers to learn from the existing assembly designs. This paper describes a system for performing content-based searches on assembly databases. We identify templates for comprehensive search definitions and describe algorithms to perform content-based searches for mechanical assemblies. Optomechanical scanning systems with focused laser spot are used in several applications including microstereolithography (MSL), scanning optical tweezers, and laser cutting. Systems used so far in the literature for scanning a focused laser spot on a substrate are: (a) galvanomirror preobjective scanning, (b) galvanomirror postobjective scanning and (c) ‘off-axis’ lens scanning system (originally proposed by coauthors). Major performance criteria due to end application, (say for example, to obtain high resolution microdevices in MSL) translates into the following criteria on optical scanning system: (i) uniform spot size and (ii) uniform intensity profile over the entire range of scan. This paper presents comparative optical analysis, both theoretical and experimental, of these systems based on the proposed performance criteria. Optical analysis of the optomechanical scanning systems is carried out by using geometric ray tracing method. Image evaluation in this case is done using diffraction wave optics. Simulations are carried out to determine spot characteristics at image plane when scan distances are changed by moving optics in the above mentioned optomechanical scanning systems. Simulation and experimental results clearly show that there is lesser distortion of spot characteristics (size and intensity profile) in case of proposed off-axis lens scanning system as compared to other systems over wider scan range. In cats and monkeys, we examined the parasympathetic component of the oculomotor complex, which directly innervates the ciliary muscle, using horseradish peroxidase (HRP). Labeled neurons of varying form and size were found in the Edinger-Westphal(EW) and the Perlia nuclei of the cat and in the anteromedian, EW, and Perlia nuclei of the monkey. Our study confirmed that a direct parasympathetic pathway exists from the midbrain to the ciliary muscles, and that accommodation is controlled in part by this direct link from the midsagittal region via a parasympathetic neuron of the oculomotor nuclear complex. 相似文献

Graphene oxide was synthesized using modified Hummers method. The preparation of polyvinylchloride/graphene oxide nanocomposites was carried out using colloidal processing. The morphology of polyvinylchloride/graphene oxide nanocomposite confirms that graphene oxide was uniformly distributed within the polyvinylchloride matrix indicating complete exfoliation of graphene oxide. Significant improvement in the microhardness of the nanocomposite was observed as compared to neat polyvinylchloride. The impedance spectroscopy of nanocomposites was carried out in the frequency range (50 Hz to 35 MHz) and temperature range (80–150°C). Thus, based on the results obtained, we found that polyvinylchloride/graphene oxide nanocomposites hold great promise in many potential applications such as an electrode material for supercapacitors. 相似文献
