The natural products are gaining immense importance in the domain of nutrition to prevent various maladies and improve the quality of life. Among these, natural exudates are of significant worth as these biochemical compounds are released by various living entities having pharmacological properties for utilization in various drug developments. These natural exudates are the promising source for the discovery of new medications. Numerous bioactive moieties collected by honeybees from exudates and buds of particular trees and plants, considered to be utilized as defensive barrier with special reference to propolis. It generally contains numerous biochemical components, i.e., polyphenols, steroids, terpenoids, and amino acids. They also contain isoferulic acid, sinapinic acid, caffeic acid, and chrysin responsible for antibacterial perspectives. With special attention to propolis, it has been utilized in folk medicines due to several of its therapeutic activities, i.e., antioxidant, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and anticancer properties. In this context, it is extensively used in foodstuffs and beverages to improve health related disorders like inflammation, diabetes, heart disease, protects injured gums, and cancer insurgence. Microemulsions are isotropic, thermodynamically stable transparent (or translucent) systems of oil, water, and surfactant, frequently in combination with a cosurfactant with a droplet size usually in the range of 20–200 nm. Since their discovery, they have attained increasing significance both in basic research and in industry. Due to their distinct advantages such as enhanced drug solubility, thermodynamic stability, facile preparation, and low cost, uses and applications of microemulsions have been numerous. Recently, there is a surge in the exploration of microemulsion for transdermal drug delivery for their ability to incorporate both hydrophilic (5-fluorouracil, apomorphine hydrochloride, diphenhydramine hydrochloride, tetracaine hydrochloride, and methotrexate) and lipophilic drugs (estradiol, finasteride, ketoprofen, meloxicam, felodipine, and triptolide) and enhance their permeation. Very low surface tension in conjunction with enormous increase in the interfacial area due to nanosized droplets of the microemulsion influences the drug permeation across the skin. A large number of oils and surfactants are available, which can be used as components of microemulsion systems for transdermal delivery but their toxicity, irritation potential, and unclear mechanism of action limit their use. Besides surfactants, oils can also act as penetration enhancers (oleic acid, linoleic acid, isopropyl myristate, isopropyl palmitate, etc.). The transdermal drug delivery potential of microemulsions is dependent not only on the applied constituents of the vehicle but also drastically on the composition/internal structure of the phases which may promote or hamper the drug distribution in the vehicles. Global aerosol direct radiative forcing (DRF) is an important metric for assessing potential climate impacts of future emissions changes. However, the radiative consequences of emissions perturbations are not readily quantified nor well understood at the level of detail necessary to assess realistic policy options. To address this challenge, here we show how adjoint model sensitivities can be used to provide highly spatially resolved estimates of the DRF from emissions of black carbon (BC), primary organic carbon (OC), sulfur dioxide (SO(2)), and ammonia (NH(3)), using the example of emissions from each sector and country following multiple Representative Concentration Pathway (RCPs). The radiative forcing efficiencies of many individual emissions are found to differ considerably from regional or sectoral averages for NH(3), SO(2) from the power sector, and BC from domestic, industrial, transportation and biomass burning sources. Consequently, the amount of emissions controls required to attain a specific DRF varies at intracontinental scales by up to a factor of 4. These results thus demonstrate both a need and means for incorporating spatially refined aerosol DRF into analysis of future emissions scenario and design of air quality and climate change mitigation policies. 相似文献

The solution of an inverse, conduction-radiation problem in a two-dimensional rectangle is analyzed to determine the temperature-dependent emissivity at the boundary. The medium is gray, absorbing, emitting and isotropically scattering. The bounding surfaces are assumed to be opaque and diffuse. The inverse problem is solved by minimizing the performance function, which is expressed by the sum of square residuals between estimated and exact heat fluxes, using a combined method of genetic algorithm and conjugate gradient. The emissivity is assumed to be represented as a function of boundary temperature with unknown variables. Therefore, the inverse problem is treated by the estimation of these variables. Finally, four examples are presented to show the accuracy of the algorithm. The effect of the measurement errors on the accuracy of the inverse analysis is also investigated. Results show the algorithm can estimate the unknown emissivity when the measurement errors are neglected. Also it is found that increasing the measurement error decreases the accuracy of estimation of temperature-dependent emissivity. 相似文献

The reactivity feedback coefficients at end-of-life of a material test reactor fuelled with low enriched uranium fuel were calculated. The reactor used for the study was the IAEA’s 10 MW benchmark reactor. Simulations were carried out to calculate the different reactivity feedback coefficients including Doppler feedback coefficient, reactivity coefficient for change of water temperature and reactivity coefficient for change of water density. Nuclear reactor analysis codes including WIMS-D4 and CITATION were employed to carry out these calculations. It was observed that the magnitude of all the reactivity feedback coefficients increased at end of life of the reactor by almost 2–5%. 相似文献

Functional and nutraceutical foods have captured the global market owing to trends and perceptions of consumers on the natural products and diet-health linkages. Health promoting potential of such foods has been attributed to the presence of essential bioactive moieties. Wheat, being staple food in many parts of the world, gained substantial attention of researchers particularly for the extraction of various functional components. Among these, fructan oligosaccharides in nature bestow quality of baked products and provide protection against various physiological disorders. Addition of fructan in various baked products enhances softness and color, especially in bread, and also imparts textural improvement. Moreover, fructans boost mineral absorption, hypocholesterolemic, and hypoglycemic perspectives, bifidogenic nature and controlling cancer insurgence. This study explored the effect of cooperative learning small group size and two different instructional modes (positive interdependence vs. individual accountability) on English as a Foreign Language (EFL) undergraduate learners’ communication skills (speaking and writing) achievement in computer-based environments. The study also examined the effects of disclosing/blinding the participants’ identities while interacting around computers on their post-test. The findings of the study revealed that the computer-based environment enabled the participants to blind their identities and reduce their anxiety from face-to-face debate, and so was very helpful in developing their communication skills. The use of the individual accountability mode was quite useful compared with the positive interdependence mode as it enabled all group members to perform their roles significantly. The 5-student group also significantly outperformed other groups of 2-7 members on the post-test communication skills. In conclusion, the findings of this study bring us a step closer to understanding the technique of cooperative language learning and group size. 相似文献
