A novel method of enhancing compatibility in PVC/ABS blends is the use of ABS‐grafted‐(maleic anhydride) (ABS‐g‐MAH) as a compatibilizer. In this study, maleic anhydride was grafted onto ABS (initiated by peroxide) in an internal mixer. Grafting degree was determined by a back‐titration method, and certain amounts of the resultant ABS‐g‐MAH were added to PVC/ABS blends during their melt blending in the mixer. The weight ratio of PVC to ABS was kept at 70:30. Evaluation of compatibilization was accomplished via tensile and notched Izod impact tests, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and rheological studies. According to the SEM micrographs, better dispersion of the rubber phase and its finer size in properly compatibilized blends were indications of better compatibility. Besides, in the presence of a proper amount [5 parts per hundred parts of PVC (php)] of ABS‐g‐MAH, PVC/ABS blends showed significantly higher impact strengths than uncompatibilized blends. This result, in turn, would be an indication of better compatibility. In the presence of 5 php of compatibilizer, the higher complex viscosity and storage modulus, as well as a lower loss modulus and loss factor in the range of frequency studied, indicated stronger interfacial adhesion as a result of interaction between maleic anhydride and the PVC‐SAN matrix. Selection of parameters in machining process significantly affects quality, productivity, and cost of a component. This paper presents an optimization procedure to determine the optimal values of wheel speed, workpiece speed, and depth of cut in a grinding process considering certain grinding conditions. Experimental studies have been carried out to obtain optimum conditions. Mathematical models have also been developed for estimating the surface roughness based on experimental investigations. A non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA II) is then used to solve this multi-objective optimization problem. The objectives under investigation in this study are surface finish, total grinding time, and production cost subjected to the constraints of production rate and wheel wear parameters. The Pareto-optimal fronts provide a wide range of trade-off operating conditions which an appropriate operating point can be selected by a decision maker. The results show the proposed algorithm demonstrates applicability of machining optimization considering conflicting objectives.  相似文献

In this study, spearmint leaves were dried using hot-air (HA) and infrared (IR) techniques. Dried products were comprehensively analyzed for their drying time, specific energy consumption (SEC), rehydration, essential oil content and color changes. The IR drying process was carried out at radiation intensity levels of 1562, 3125 and 4688 W/m2, emitter to sample distances of 10, 15 and 20 cm and air temperatures of 30, 40 and 50 °C. For HA drying, three levels of air temperature (30, 40 and 50 °C) and air velocity (0.5, 1 and 1.5 m/s) were applied. The results indicated that drying time, SEC and color changes were lower in IR drying of spearmint than in HA drying. IR drying gave the highest essential oil content (0.95 %) and rehydration ratio (0.788 kg water/kg dry matter (DM)). Totally, it was observed that IR drying of spearmint resulted in better quality preservation and had lower energy costs in comparison to HA drying.  相似文献

A parametric analytical study is carried out to scrutinize the mechanism of fluid flow, heat transfer and entropy generation in a low-speed rarefied gaseous flow confined between a shaft and its concentric housing, i.e., the cylindrical Couette flow. In the first law analysis, closed form solutions for the radial temperature profiles are obtained by incorporating the calculated velocity distribution into the energy equation. The derivations for three thermal cases, which are founded on imposing different thermal conditions, namely, the Uniform Heat Flux (UHF) and the Constant Wall Temperature (CWT) boundary conditions, are presented. In the second law analysis, the contributions of thermal diffusion and fluid friction irreversibility to the total entropy generation in the micro domain are illustrated, and the relevant expressions for the Bejan number and the entropy generation number as well as the average entropy generation rate are derived. Finally, the variations of major variables with influential parameters such as the Knudsen number, the Brinkman number and rotation mode are investigated to elucidate the associated effects of rarefaction phenomenon, viscous dissipation and geometric condition on the characteristics of the flow.  相似文献

Gas holdup and gas–liquid mass transfer coefficient were considered in an external airlift reactor. Air was sparged through some aliphatic alcohols (methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, and n-butanol) with different concentrations (0–1%, v/v). It was observed that gas holdup and mass transfer coefficient increased with increasing the number of carbons in alcohols. Furthermore, an increment in alcohols concentration increased gas holdup and mass transfer coefficient. The same behavior was observed in external and internal loop airlift reactors although gas holdup and mass transfer coefficient values were less than those of internal airlift reactor. According to the experiments, two correlations for gas holdup and mass transfer were developed.  相似文献

A new TiO2-containing bioactive glass and glass-ceramics based on 50SiO2-(45-X)CaO-(XTiO2)-5P2O5 system was designed using a sol–gel technique (where X = 5, 7.5 and 10 wt %). The roles of the crystallization behavior and physicochemical characteristics of the designed glass and glass-ceramics which were played in the introduction of TiO2 substitutions were investigated. Moreover, cell proliferation and differentiation were evaluated against human osteosarcoma cells (Saos-2). The TiO2/CaO replacements led to the formation of a stronger glass structure and thus increased thermal parameters and the chemical stabilization of the designed materials. The FTIR data confirmed the existence of Ti within the glass and glass-ceramics samples, and no remarkable effect on their chemical integrity was observed. The XRD patterns indicated that calcium-containing minerals, including Ca2SiO4,Ca3(PO4)2, Ca(Ti,Si)O5, CaTiSiO5, and Ca15(PO4)2·(SiO4)6 phases were developed as a role of structure/texture under the applied heat-treatment. The results of the cytotoxicity test proved that a safe sample dose is 12–50 μg/ml, at which cell viability is ≥ 85%. The cell differentiation determined by ALP test proved the superiority of glass-ceramics compared with their native glasses. Therefore, the obtained materials could be safely used as novel biocompatible materials for the regeneration of bone tissue.  相似文献

Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) with marvelous properties have aroused enormous attention for different application especially gas adsorption and separation. In this regard, fabrication of MOF hybrids with carbon based materials is new strategy to upgrade MOF performance. In this study CuBTC (Copper benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid)/graphene oxide (GO) composite was synthesized and characterized by BET, SEM, TGA, XRD and FT-IR techniques. Then CuBTC and CuBTC/GO composite were incorporated into polysulfone (PSF) polymer to construct mixed matrix membranes (MMMs). The obtained membranes were characterized by SEM, TGA, XRD and tensile tests and their gas permeability was measured. The results were compared to those of CuBTC/PSF MMMs. It was revealed that CuBTC/GO composite as filler showed superior performance relative to CuBTC. For instance, 15 wt% loading of CuBTC/GO in PSF represented outstanding gas separation behavior while the same loading of CuBTC in PSF deteriorated performance of MMM. Well particle dispersion and favorable polymer-filler interaction were responsible for such observed difference. A high H2/CH4 and H2/N2 selectivity of 80.03 and 70.46 were recorded for CuBTC/GO in PSF (15 wt%) compared to 44.56 and 40.92 for CuBTC in PSF (15 wt%).  相似文献

Cr/SBA‐15 catalysts were prepared by the grafting of chromium nitrate nonahydrate [Cr(NO3)3·9H2O] complexes onto SBA‐15 mesoporous materials. Shish‐kebab and nanofiber polyethylenes (PEs) were prepared under different temperatures via ethylene extrusion polymerization with the Cr(NO3)3·9H2O catalytic system. The diameter of a single nanofiber was 100–250 nm. Scanning electron microscopy images showed that the polymer obtained from the SBA‐15‐supported catalyst under different polymerization temperatures produced nanofiber and/or shish‐kebab morphologies. X‐ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry were used to characterize microstructures of the materials. Polymers obtained with all of the catalysts showed a melting temperature, bulk density, and high load melt index; this indicated the formation of linear high‐density PE. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
