Regression Model for Daily Maximum Stream Temperature   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
An empirical model is developed to predict daily maximum stream temperatures for the summer period. The model is created using a stepwise linear regression procedure to select significant predictors. The predictive model includes a prediction confidence interval to quantify the uncertainty. The methodology is applied to the Truckee River in California and Nevada. The stepwise procedure selects daily maximum air temperature and average daily flow as the variables to predict maximum daily stream temperature at Reno, Nev. The model is shown to work in a predictive mode by validation using three years of historical data. Using the uncertainty quantification, the amount of required additional flow to meet a target stream temperature with a desired level of confidence is determined.  相似文献

The Liver-Expressed Antimicrobial Peptide 2 (LEAP-2) has emerged as an endogenous GHS-R antagonist and blunts the orexigenic action of ghrelin. This study aimed to determine the Ghrelin/LEAP-2 ratio in humans and rats during pregnancy. In humans, we conducted a nested case-control study within an observational prospective cohort. Healthy and mild preeclamptic pregnant women were studied at each trimester of gestation and three months postpartum. In addition, a group of non-pregnant women was studied into the follicular and luteal phases of the menstrual cycle. Furthermore, Ghrelin/LEAP-2 ratio was investigated in non-pregnant rats and at different periods of rat pregnancy. Human and rat serum ghrelin and LEAP-2 levels were determined using the commercially available ELISA kits. The Ghrelin/LEAP-2 ratio peak around the second trimester of gestation in healthy pregnant women (p < 0.05). Additionally, there were no statistically significant differences in Ghrelin/LEAP-2 ratio between healthy and preeclamptic pregnant women at each trimester of gestation (p > 0.05). The Ghrelin/LEAP-2 ratio in pregnant rat reached the peak around mid-gestation with a similar pattern to the human pregnancy. LEAP-2 was visualized by immunohistochemistry in human term placenta and rat placentas on days 12, 16 and 21 of pregnancy. In conclusion, this study provides the first evidence of a Ghrelin/LEAP-2 ratio peak around the half-way point of pregnancy onwards during human and rat pregnancy, and it might be associated with increased rates of weight gain during pregnancy. Thus, this study suggests that LEAP-2 and Ghrelin/LEAP-2 ratio might play an important role in maternal physiology adaptation of weight gain during pregnancy.  相似文献

Several network-flow problems with additional constraints are considered. They are all special cases of the linear-programming problem and are shown to be -complete. It is shown that the existence of a strongly polynomial-time algorithm for any of these problems implies the existence of such an algorithm for the general linear-programming problem. On the positive side, strongly polynomial algorithms for some parametric flow problems are given, when the number of parameters is fixed. These algorithms are applicable to constrained flow problems when the number of additional constraints is fixed.Work on the paper was done while at Stanford University and IBM Almaden Research Center. 103 female college students (aged 18–24 yrs) were administered the Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure on Copy, Immediate Recall, and 20-min Delayed Recall. Ss were grouped based on handedness, familial handedness, and academic major (mathematics/science and nonmath/science). Based on the scoring system of D. Waber and J. Holmes (see PA, Vols 72:24305 and 74:9917) the mathematics/science anomalous dominance groups obtained higher mean scores than all other subgroups, and the non-math/science familial right-handers were the low performers. Beginning in January 1992, the Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) and the US Geological Survey (USGS) formulated plans for the Watershed and River Systems Management Program—a cooperative interagency effort to develop and implement flexible and robust river basin management tools for the benefit of managers and decision makers using a data centered approach. In addition to Reclamation and the USGS, a number of other agencies and universities have made substantial contributions to the success of the program. The result has been the need driven research and development of state-of-the-art technology which benefits water managers and technical specialists in many river basins.  相似文献

Summary The solubility of lactucin, 8-deoxylactucin and lactucopicrin, all sesquiterpene lactones of chicory roots, was determined as a function of pH (pH 1–10) in the presence and absence of polysaccharides. The stability of the sesquiterpene lactones, when dissolved in water, decreased under influence of daylight as a function of pH. Enzymatic hydrolysis of lactucopicrin by commercial enzyme preparations, used for liquefaction of chicory roots into lactucin and p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid, was not found.
Einfluß von Licht, Lösungsmittel und Handelsenzymen auf die Löslichkeit und Stabilität der Sesquiterpen-Lactone von Zichorienwurzeln
Zusammenfassung Die Stabilität von LaCA Bussurnctucin, 8-Deoxylactucin und Lactucopicrin (alles SesquiterpenLactone der Zichorienwurzel) wurde in Abhängigkeit vom pH-Wert beim Aufbewahren im Licht studiert. Es konnte ein Abbau dieser Verbindungen nachgewiesen werden. Die Löslichkeit dieser drei Verbindungen wurde in Abhängigkeit vom pH-Wert mit und ohne Polysaccharide bestimmt. Es wurde keine Hydrolyse des Lactucopicrins unter der Einwirkung von kommerziellen Enzymen, die bei der Verflüssigung von Zichorienwurzeln verwendet werden, gefunden.

Three peanut cultivars (Virginia, red-skinned, and white-skinned Spanish) were analyzed and compared as potential protein supplements for food uses. The seeds were solvent-extracted in the laboratory to yield defatted flours with 9–10% nitrogen contents. Protein isolates were prepared from the flours by subsequent extraction with dilute salt solutions buffered at pH 7.0. Various parameters were compared, such as total protein contents, soluble proteins, amino acid compositions of flours and protein isolates, free amino acids and free sugars of defatted flours, and certain trace minerals in flours and soluble proteins. The application of these results to the selection of certain types of peanuts for potential uses as protein supplements in food products is discussed.
