To date, few studies have sought to investigate the effects of child maltreatment and processes influencing maladaptation and resilience in Latino children. In the current investigation, multiple aspects of functioning, personal resources, and relationship features were examined in school-age maltreated and nonmaltreated Latino children. Maltreated Latino children were found to have fewer areas of resilient functioning. Ego-resiliency and ego-control, as personal resources, and the ability to form a positive relationship with an adult figure outside of the immediate family predicted resilience. However, certain aspects of interpersonal functioning were differentially related to resilience for maltreated and nonmaltreated Latino children. These findings have implications for understanding how resilience can be promoted in maltreated and nonmaltreated Latino children. Inspired by the recent success of buckling-induced reconfigurable structures, a new class of deployable systems that harness buckling of curved beams upon a rotational input is proposed. First, experimental and numerical methods are combined to investigate the influence of the beam's geometric parameters on its non-linear response. Then, it is shown that a wide range of deployable architectures can be realized by combining curved beams. Finally, the proposed principles are used to build deployable furniture such as tables and lamp shades that are flat/compact for transportation and storage, require simple or no assembly, and can be expanded by applying a simple rotational input.  相似文献

Polyolefin‐based materials are increasingly being used in many industrial applications for packaging, automotive and construction materials. The recent developments of research have been aimed at making these materials, often complex, being mixtures, block copolymers, micro‐ and nanocomposites with inorganic and organic fillers, more efficient and environmentally friendly (through recycling processes, and the use of bio‐polyolefins). In this context, functionalized polyolefins, on the one hand, play a fundamental role in improving the morphology and thus the thermal and mechanical properties of heterophase systems, and, on the other hand, provide new materials difficult to obtain by conventional synthesis in connection with the type of inserted functionality. Therefore it appears to be of interest to report and discuss here the recent results concerning the radical grafting in the melt of different functionalities onto polyolefins as well as the capability reached of modulating ad hoc the degree of grafting and the final structure/architecture of functionalized polyolefins. © 2013 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

This article deals with experiences acquired during the process of developing the Timbre Brownfield Prioritization Tool (TBPT). Developing a decision support tool that takes into account the expectations and experiences of its potential users is similar to creating applicable knowledge by the joint action of scientists and heterogeneous actors. Actor network theory is used to explore the construction of this form of applicable knowledge as a process of actor network creation. Following the French sociologist Callon, networks are seen to be initiated and carried out by a group of scientists (tool developers) via four moments of translation, called problematization, interessement, enrolment and mobilization. Each step in the construction of the TBPT—from the initial research question to the final model—can be linked in retrospect to changing configurations of actor networks. Based on the experiences of the tool developers in the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany and Romania, we illustrate how these configurations varied across space and time. This contribution emphasizes the ability to correlate gains in knowledge with the more visible changes in the scope of actor networks in order to highlight achievements but also limitations in acquiring applicable knowledge.  相似文献

The coexistence of urban green spaces and infrastructure is often difficult. Trees find inhospitable environments in urban areas, whereas tree root systems can damage sidewalk, street and parking lot. The main form of failure concerns the growing of tree roots beneath the pavements, which produce upheavals and displacements on wearing course. The main objective of this study was a distinct element method modelling analysis of the potential interactions between tree root systems and street pavements. This calculation code allowed us to simulate the dynamic behaviour of the ground-pavement system as result of the roots growth. The performed modelling, representative of various planting strategies commonly used in urban contexts, have highlighted the progressive reduction of deformations with the increase of the roots penetration depth. Such displacements were strongly influenced by other factors such as the porosity and the grain-size distribution of the soil and the type of pavement considered.  相似文献

Since the XIV century the Pio Palace in Carpi (MO, Italy) has been subjected to many additions and rearrangements and, in the last decades, to wide restoration works. Nevertheless the XVII century main portal has not been restored yet, due to its complex and peculiar surface alteration forms in comparison with the other parts of the building, and still suffers a deep decay and degradation by complex chemical-physical processes.  相似文献

Waste tires cause both health and environmental problems and this has forced governments to develop laws for recycling. There are several different recycling processes for end-of-life tires in which steel is recovered and rubber is reused. However, the reuse of other parts of the waste tires is currently not possible. These other parts mainly consist of textiles that are separated from the tire during the recycling process – this material is usually known as ‘fluff’. In this study a procedure for the design of materials with superior acoustic properties using this material was developed. The main component of the acoustic material is textile waste from mechanically fragmented tires obtained through recycling activity. The design process is based on several parameters: acoustic absorption coefficient measurement by the impedance tube method, acoustic modelling, mechanical characterization of the material and, finally, finite element modelling of the end acoustic product. In this work it was also established that the mechanical and acoustic properties need to be opposite to obtain the desired characteristics in the materials under investigation. In order to produce a competitive material formed completely from textile waste from recycled tires, a solution formed by two layers is proposed. This approach was used to provide a self-supporting material with a high acoustic absorption coefficient for use in acoustic ceiling tiles.  相似文献
